dweaver.. what i'm saying is even though houston has done well for the organization.... what has he done lately since signing that fat ass contract?

i'm sure the knicks fans can tell you how vital he was to the team back when he was in his prime, but these past few years he's been a deadweight with a max contract.

Man Houston is overpaid :?

I can respect the fact that he's a top notch guy in the Knicks, but it almost seems like he's getting a big paycheck because he "was" good. Time for him to leave NYC and test out the real world..I don't think he'll get anything close to what he was gettin in NY..might come as a shock to him but something he has to accept. He wont get the big money unless he puts up big numbers.
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

yeah we love Allan. However that contract is just outrageous. I mean really, the guy is hurt so badly now and is getting almost 20mill a year?? Can they even get 20games out of him these days???
Even if he recovers he will not be the Allan Houston of the 90s we know of that actually could jump and dunk ( he was in a dunk contest)
Houston dunking today is just as likely as Earl Boykins dunking.

When judging people it's best to see the whole picture, past and future... both t epros and the cons, strengths and flwas... This league and its hype machine work solely on the positive/negative bandwagon aspect , being too damn quick to create stars or throw them off their pedestals... I mean, they almost gave TD the reputation of a choker because a few bad games... no one even deigned to remember the 2 Finals MVPs before...

Same thing with Allan... Just plain old sickening... :(

Perhaps a couple of other teams will take advantage of the clause and let go of a highly paid player they don't want. I'm not sure they'll get cap relief though, it's mainly to avoid the luxury tax.

Like I said before, as long as he's healthy Houston should be able to find a new home for at least another season or two. For the right price, most teams would be happy to have his offensive firepower coming off the bench.

So Allan will still get his 20M per year, but th eKnicks will be free of 20m salary cap space along with free of paying 20M to the league as luxury taxes...

It will still count towards the teams salary cap. It will just be exempted from the salary tax calculations.

So they'll still be horribly over teh cap but at least dolan won't have to pay 40million dollars due to going over the luxary cap threshold.
