Andrew Bogut hasn't played a second yet in the L, but he's already talking smack. He was quoted in yesterday's Washington Post talking about his perception of the NBA and players' behavior: "There's no one I really hate, but Kobe had a demeanor of being very cocky," said Bogut. "What happened with Shaq ..."
If I had a chance to play with Shaq or Tim [Duncan], if they told me to buy them groceries, I don't care, I'd buy them groceries. It's a gift to play with somebody like that. Kobe is probably one of the guys that, everybody knows it, he's got that cocky arrogance to him, everything has to surround around him the whole timei think he's a cocky bastard(hasn't played a second in the nba and he's already talking smack about arguably the best 1on1 player in the league right now).also it shoots down those lamar odom and the laker's pick for milwaukees no.1 so the lakers can take bogut. i don't think kobe wants to play for that idiot after he blows him off...

none of us on the forum have played a second in the league and all we do is talk shit.

well at least we can bitch @ Live Kobe

another question i have is, how come when a player like carmelo comes out and talks shit everyone thinks he is cool for it, shows he has heart. this guy does it and you hate on him.
Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:37 am
Nah, that's untrue. I hate Carmelo just for him being Carmelo, call it blind hate if you will.
I don't have anything against Bogut, I've never seen him play nor do I know how he is, I think he has nuts for saying what everyone (or most of them) in the NBA is thinking.

Oh noes.

He has an "American" attitude though, thus says many magazines.

also to be honest, he never bashed kobe. he just said what everyone in the basketball world thinks.
Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:40 am
Hehe, if with American attitude you mean a la Kemp, to penetrate anything with a hole & eat as many burgers as McDonald's offers, then oh noes again.
If by American attitude you mean a hard working & intelligent young man (right...) then good to have him in the league. Or soon atleast.

nah not quite, I don't think he'll get as many girls as Kemp did either.

Aside from his talent, the thing I find most promising about Bogut is the fact he's going through the Luc Longley route rather than the Shane Heal route. He's following the path of most NBA players, going through college and entering the draft. The two Aussies who have been the most successful were drafted, the most successful (Longley) never played in the NBL. He'll be coming into the league with the potential to be a key player, rather than a project or an insurance policy.

And he's 3 inches taller than Marvin.

Off the top of my head, I can't figure out who that other Aussie is.

Bogut is 209 cm (6'10 1/3'') and if it measurements show that Marvin is really 6'9'' without his shoes on (the height of Amare and Dwight Howard), wouldn't that boost his status a little bit?

Shane Heal or Andrew Gaze... Both had stints in Greece...

Same. The only other one I can think of that was drafted was Anstey... in the first round that is. The other one's David Anderson but he's never played in the NBA.

Man you guys are just crazy...
Bogut can say what ever he wants and the press will jump on it.
Were you there when the Lakers split up? Were you in the locker room when Shaq and Kobe were at it? Do you really know what went down behind closed doors at the Staples center last summer?
If you don't... Then you can really say nothing more than what you have read through the media. And the media had a field day with Kobe and painted him the bad guy all the way. It was a good selling story, a not-so-storybook ending to a reign of four years.
Media can make huge spins on any story... And I believe that Bogut said all that he could say about it... He didn't say that he hated Kobe or anything of the like, but he just said that Kobe's image in the media isn't something he wishes to be teamed up with. Sometimes with Kobe, it seems it's more media than making his shots.
Don't know how much the media had to do with Kobe ending up with the bad guy status last summer, but I'm sure they did their part in pushing it into that direction.
None of us really know... We just know what the Media tells us... Thus Bogut's comments were on the money... Kobe ended up at the wrong end of the media club...

Have you heard the stuff Kobe actually said, as quote for quote? It's not just the press, but what Kobe said that gave him a cocky image.

I don't think either of them were drafted. Anstey was picked at #16 or something.
