Right. That's how the Spurs got Duncan, wasn't it?
Well the Spurs had the third worst record that year a better example would be the Nets picking Kenyon Martin first in 2000 when they had the 7th worst record in 99-00 or the Magic who had the 11th worst record in 92-93 (Shaqs first year) and got Chris Webber with the first pick in the 93 draft.

Wowww! how lucky those Bucks

I guess now this will encourage Michael Redd to stay instead of going to his hometown Cleveland
Wed May 25, 2005 12:54 pm
Redd seemed loyal in the first place anyway. Since Raptors have the 7th pick, let's hope they'll take a good player and get lucky the same way the Suns got lucky with Amare Stoudemire (9th pick in 2002)

1) Milwaukee Bucks - Andrew Bogut
2) Atlanta Hawks - Marvin Williams
3) Portland TrailBlazers - Gerald Green (they seem very high on him)
4) New Orleans Hornets - Erm... hmm... Chris Paul? I don't like it though.
5) Charlotte Bobcats - Deron Williams
6) Utah Jazz - Fran Vasquez
That's what I think anyways, I can't see Portland drafting Paul when they have Telfair and I can't see Charlotte drafting anyone but a PG, but I'm often wrong.
Wed May 25, 2005 1:29 pm
I don't think that Chris paul will be in top 5. His size is the biggest problm that he has.
Wed May 25, 2005 1:38 pm
wow blazers came out the winner in this. They have a lot of talent still so let's see what happens there.
Wed May 25, 2005 1:57 pm
nbadraft.net has it going
#1 MIL - Bogut
#2 ATL - Chris Paul
#3 POR - Marvin Williams
#4 NOR - Deron
#5 CHA - Andriuskevicius
#6 UTA - Fran Vasquez
#7 TOR - Gerald Green
#8 NYC - Channing Frye
#9 GSW - Christ Taft
#10 LAL - Raymond Felton
Doesn't make much sense to me.
Is Taft really that much better than Felton?
Why in the world does Portland need another athletic SF that can't post up and can't hit a long range jumper? They've got 3 already.
Does NO need a 3rd PG with Claxton & Dickau?
No way Isaiah will take a big man with a pick, he's going to grab the best athlete or guard he can.
Wed May 25, 2005 2:24 pm
All good points maes... and re: Chris Paul, Anthony15 he's been a projected top 3 pick since the start of the year. I think these days teams are more willing to look past height as far as guards go. He's not Dajuan Wagner.
I don't get how they've got Gerald Green falling to Toronto, Portland haven't shut up about him and Channing Frye as the #8 pick? I'm not sure about Andriuskevicius to Charlotte either, there's better players who are almost the same age and will provide alot more for the team. I mean by the time he comes good (if he ever does), his rookie contract will be up.
Wed May 25, 2005 2:31 pm
The main reason why Felton isn't going that high because most of those teams don't really need a PG other than the Jazz and maybe Toronto, but there are better players available over Felton like Green. I don't know too much about Vazquez though. I kind of have a feeling that Green will definitely move up to a top 5 prospect though because many believe he could be the best player in the draft.
Wed May 25, 2005 2:48 pm
I think the Blazers take Green he's an amazing prospect and they really need a sg that can hit the three. That means NO lucks out and still gets to take Williams. Utah is gonna take a PG and so is Charlotte which means Felton won't be on the board for the Lakers. Look for them to try and trade up in the draft.
Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Wed May 25, 2005 6:07 pm
I think this will mean Marwin falls to New Orleans. Portland is (imho) going for Green.

Portland is high on anything.

Damn.. Bogut to Milwaukee. I was more hoping hed go to Atlanta or New Orleans but I guess this is good. The Bucks are young!
Wed May 25, 2005 7:02 pm
Telfair and Green and Zach are gonna rule the NBA....

good call. Even Dwight Howard would've been a dope smoking, coach hating overpaid injured racist if he'd been picked by Portland.
There's some good articles at DraftCity, one is an interview with the GM of the Bucks after they got the #1 pick. I think it pretty much sets in stone that they'll pick Bogut, but who knows...
Larry Harris: “Thanks to everyone. I appreciate your patience. The loud roar you heard was all the way from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, all the fans and everybody, and then obviously “make sure that Larry makes the right choice.”
Other than that I am happy you guys are all on board, I can’t really explain the joy and anticipation when the 6th pick came up and it was not us. At that point I thought alright, we are going to shift seats here, we’ll go to the #3 and maybe we’ll end up there, but then the #3 came up and it was not us and then I got a little greedy I have to say. Thought we may as well go for the whole enchilada. It’s a special night, and it’s going to be 6 weeks from when we have to actually make the pick, but it’s a great day in Milwaukee and I’m really looking forward to the next six weeks.”
Question: “Larry if you could just talk about what you see there, those top 3 picks with Williams, Bogut and Chris Paul. Obviously you are moving up into a place where you can get a lot of help, right away.”
Larry Harris “I think certainly you mentioned three players, and I’m sure there are another 57 that feel that they are in the top three as well…when you are thinking of those three players specifically, when we went into this process we thought we were going to be the #6 pick. Having said that, we thought that the depth of this draft was at the four and the one spot. I still feel that way, even being the #1 pick, but yet because you got the #1 pick, it brings in the big young kid in Andrew Bogut. As we look at our roster, moving forward, we certainly need a low post presence. If you speak about Andrew Bogut first…certainly a guy that has legitimate size, good hands, good feet, can pass, knows how to play, obviously a consensus All-American. And you have a younger player in Marvin Williams, a tremendous talent. Certainly a guy that was coming off the bench for them, but had an incredible run in the NCAA tournament. And then Chris Paul, arguably the #1 PG out there. With the situation with TJ Ford…obviously we’re encouraged by what’s going on there, but those are three players that we will certainly take a long hard look at, and all three bring something different to the table for us.”

I don't get NBAdraft.net. Draft city has the Lakers picking up Jarret Jack with the 10th pick & NBADraft.net has Jack as low as the 27th pick? Since I don't get any college hoops can anyone enlighten me as to which is more likely to happen? 10 or 27? From what draft city says about him he seems like a nice fit for LA, good passer, knows where to pass the ball, half court game & good defense. Add to that that he's 6'3.

Its becaues nbadraft.net sux. Every sg in their profiles who can chew gum and walk at the same time, is compared to michael jordan.
Thu May 26, 2005 1:40 am

not to mention the Moiso/Garnett comparisons.

I'm not overly trusting of DraftCity either, sure they have better reports and make it more indepth, but I'm quite sure nbadraft.net got more on the sport-picks 2004 than DraftCity.

I make my own mock drafts, but I definitely prefer DraftCity's reports and scouting.

Agreed, they're usually very good.

i don't' know why some of you dog nbadraft.net. the moiso/jordan comparisons, which were amusing to begin with, were wrong but check their draft history and how close their mock drafts were to the actual drafts.
the big negative about that site is that they make you pay for certain information where you can problaby get it free from draftcity
normally outside of the top 3, it's still too early to think those picks will be right on
Thu May 26, 2005 4:46 am
moiso/jordan comparisons
I thought it was Moiso/Garnett, Moiso was a high pick, and it's not like people thought he would be garbage coming out of collge. Athletic, was supposed to have some shooting touch etc, but he's just extremely lazy, and not a smart player at all.
Thu May 26, 2005 4:48 am
No one's bagging their mock drafts, in fact they've actually been complimented. We have bagged the comparisons.
Thu May 26, 2005 4:59 am
sorry.. i meant to say jordan/garnett comparisons.. stevenson being compared to jordan, moiso to garnett... those were probably the 2 most outrageous i've seen. but i wouldn't know recently since i don't pay for their premium service
lol jae: you are a tough man to please. a few comparisons are off out of the 50 or so scouting reports they come up with yearly. can't wait to see your mock drafts/scouting reports
