i would definetly put petrovic in the top 5 foreign players ever to play in the nba. i never pay attention to the olympics so i wont count any of that, but imo petrovic was one of the best foreign born players to ever grace the nba.

note: if we count hakeem i would list him clearly number 1. some might not count him since he became an american citizen.

Drazen Petrovic ( I wondered if anyone would mention him)

It was a thrill to play against Drazen. Every time we competed, he competed with an aggressive attitude. He came at me as hard as I came at him. So, we've had some great battles in the past and unfortunately, they were short battles.

I find something troubling about putting a dead guy on IR...

On a similar note, I was playing Season Ticket Basketball and my star player got injured for 76 games. The reason? Severe depression I should've put him on suicide watch or something, the team was 32-9 at the time so I don't know what he was bothered about.

Andrew Gaze does not deserve to be mentioned as one of the best foreign players of All-Time. He's not even the greatest Australian basketballer, that title belongs to Luc Longley, who actually had an NBA career. Gaze is the best Australian player in the NBL, well, he was.

No malice intended in my post. I based my lineup on who I enjoyed watching. IMO, all players in my list are stating 5 material in the NBA and is excellent internationally. I probably have seen a lot of games from the players listed with the exception of Sabonis and Petrovic. Drazen died at a young age while I haven't seen Sabonis in his prime. Sabonis got to my starting 5 because even when he joined the NBA past his prime, he was still pretty good compared to Shawn Bradley, Olowakandi, Foyle, etc.!

Are you refering to my list? I stated that it was purely for the Olympics, and I think Andrew Gaze deserves to be on that list.

I think some of you are underextemating Jasikevicius as well as Macijauskas as a players... Their maybe not better than Petrovic, but I think they are at a simular level as Stojakovic from what I've seen them play.

I wouldn't count Hakeem, since I don't think he played for any International team, plus he went to an American College.

Same thing with Dikembe Mutumbo and Tim Duncan(plus he played for the US Olympic team).

if you don't count Dikembe for playing college then you couldn't really count Nash as he played at Santa Clara....

Hakeem Olajuwon became a US citizen and represented them at the 1996 Olympics; Duncan's in a similar position having been born in the US Virgin Islands. Mutombo and Nash remain citizens of the Congo and Canada respectively, thus they qualify as international players.

That says foreing players...Duncan always get the "International" tag in the Spurs and NBA webs.

If they're naturalised and have never represented their home country, you could perhaps argue they're not international players. But guys like Mutombo are still considered international players.
