ive thought about it before. yet... im still gonna meet ben gordon bitch yea!
of course they are just normal people... who happen to be extremely good at basketball. but u kno wat? they also represent a lot of good qualities... any professional athletes. i dont want to meet ben gordon so i can stand there and stammer "uhhh ben gordon im a fan" if i actually met him and was able to talk to him for 1 minute id ask him how much he worked/played as a child... wen he knew hed be in the nba... and how he made it to the nba.
its interesting because being a professional athlete is a goal for sooo many people... including mine (not basketball).... and its nice to meet these people who had goals and achieved them through hard work and dedication.
also i dont know if uve noticed but athletes are very happy, nice people. especially in sports like bball where the majority are coming from hard upbringing... they appreciate and dont take for granted what they have now because they know where theyve been and that there are millions of other ppl in that situation at the moment.
id much rather meet a "normal" person whose a professional athlete then another "normal" person. of course we are all normal, i understand that. but i think we can learn from these athletes about how to achieve what WE want in life
and for the autograph comment.... thats overrated. first of all its not a big deal to giv an autograph to a snotty rich bitch kid... because it doesnt affect u at all. 2nd of all, if u dont want to giv it to them cause ur in a bad mood or jus dont feel like it... then dont giv it to him. its that simple. wats the worst they can do? cry? do u think these athletes giv a SHIT wat a lil kid thinks? no. athletes had to go through soooo much adversity to be where their at... opinions dont bother them as much as they do us.

i dont see the problem is signing an autograph to someone who ultimately is paying your contract. Yes, it proabably get's annoying as hell but those are the negatives of being famous. Still, everyone should appreciate their fans. I know i appreciate my groupies

the only reason people find reasons why being a professional athlete isnt enjoyable is because their in denial that they cant be an athlete and they know they wish they could.
i dont wanna hear bullshit about signing autographs. a person working for UPS goes through 100 times worse then having to sign autographs for rich kids...

I met Kobe in 1997 at Arco Arena it was during Warm-Ups, I just went courtside and took a Picture of him dribbling. We didn't talk I just saw him, does that count?

The problem is, we live in a world obssessed with celebrities and there are a lot of over-zealous fans who will cross the line to get a momento from their favourite stars. There are plenty of stories of fans knocking on toilet doors or even passing pen and paper under the stalls to try and get an autograph, or interrupting private dinners etc to ask for autographs.
That said, there are appropriate times to ask for a photo opportunity or an autograph and while celebrities aren't necessarily obliged to give either, it's a classy move for them to do so especially when the person asking is being respectful about it.

Yeah i know what you mean. Theres a fine line between giving autographs and getting hassled 24/7
