should the lakers trade kobe??

There are many things to try to improve for the team before they decide to trade Kobe... whom they signed to a huge huge contract. It's obvious the Franchise still has faith in him. If the team can get some nice role players to complement him and teach the team how to play defence and Kobe and the Lakers are still playing like they are now... then maybe it should be a thought....

But now is not the time as you guys said... I'd give him two more seasons.

If Cavs are losing, then they might do that too.

i think once kobe realizes that its pretty much impossible for him to average 30 ppg his entire career like MJ, then we'll see him being a team player.. it's just a matter of time, i think he has the ability to be unselfish.

They might ring a bell? WTF? anyway, it doesn't matter whether or not they're winning or losing, they still look up to him as the leader.

I think they don't need to trade him but they need to trade to 'help' him. At the moment he's the whole team and without Shaq, hes doing all the work. LAL need another dominent player to help out Kobe

I don't think that's the solution...if Kobe couldn't coexist with Shaq, then with another dominant player... (N) It wouldn't work, IMO.

Kobe needs to be surrounded by the right role players & needs to lighten up a little. He can get them their points if they are in the position but he has to motivate them to be in that position. Sooner or later they will surround him with the correct pieces, for Kobe & LA's sake, let's hope it's sooner than later.

thats another problem they got. when kobe goes off and starts doing his thing his team gives up on him which only causes them to lose in the end. sure michael dominated when he played but he did it in the 4th. i truely believe kobe needs to pick his spots when to take over, and when its not his time give the damn ball up so your team stays in the game.

That's something that Michael Jordan learned and was very successful at doing, picking his spots to dominate. It's something that Kobe will probably learn sooner or later, with a couple of disappointing experiences - namely missing the playoffs or tasting early postseason defeat - teaching him that lesson.

You guys act like Kobe has never experienced failure, and needs to be taught a lesson. As I recall, the Lakers had a number of disappointing finishes before this year, including:

1. 1998 when Utah handed them their lunch
2. 1997 I believe when Kobe kept launching those air balls vs. Utah in the playoffs
3. 1999 when the Spurs swept them
4. 2003 when the Spurs knocked them out
5. and last year when the Pistons got them

It's not that he's never experienced failure, it's that he's a moron.

Any trade is dependant on what you would get back. IMO, he's not as "untouchable" as he once was. I'm not talking about needing help to win a CHAMPIONSHIP, I'm talking about just getting your team into the playoffs!

A lot of scrub teams have made the playoffs before. The Lakers failure this year is because Kobe doesn't know how to lead a team.

losing in the finals is not considered a failure. when i say he has not failed i mean he has not had to watch the entire playoffs from home yet. this year he will get to experience that and if he is even half the competitor i have thought him to be, he wont like it one bit.

Oh come on. The definition of failure is having to watch the entire playoffs from home?

They sure looked like a failure when Utah raised the price on their asses in 97 and 98.

He shared the blame of those failures though. There were those that saw it as a Shaq & Kobe failure. This is the first time Kobe, just Kobe, has failed.

He's the leader, their one and only leader, all the blame is on him. He hasn't tasted that just yet. Those other situations you mentioned he still had the behemoth beside him. It wasn't all lashed out on Kobe, this time, it will be. There is a difference. You can either see it, or not.

You said it yourself "they looked like failures"...they being the keyword in your sentance and "Kobe (failed)" in ours.

1. Utah was the better team
2. Kobe was told by Del Harris to shoot
3. The Spurs were the better team
4. Same as above... and plus the Shaq-Kobe drama
5. Team Un-harmony...

All of those examples were a team thing as Jackal pointed out... even if it was partly Kobe's fault. You can't say he's tasted defeat alot of times. As Jackal pointed out- wat makes this season different is that Kobe is the only leader on this Lakers team.

This could be a better lesson for Bryant... learning how to lead. Missing the playoffs and getting most of the blame for it should... if he is a sane human being, make him notice what things and factors are important when you are a leader...

He always had Shaq to back him up. I believe Kobe will come back next season stronger as we have never seem and he will prove all the haters wrong.

no offense but i hope he never bunches back and he has to watch the next playoffs from home til the day he retires. ofcourse this will not happen and imo he will one day "get it" and then, just maybe, he will step into the spot as the clear choice for best in the league.
