long socks isn't a base of ass whooping. my teams star player has high sock and he score like 24+ points during my college time.

I sometimes buy long socks because i like soccer and its a fashion statement here.

the prob though is when i use headbands. I have a hair a little bit longer than nash and i just can't seem to look cool with headband on.

Yeah, nobody needs those crappy show-off tricks, in a real game you won't perform them anyway (except Allen Iverson the behind the back pass last week ).

Yeah, I also saw some people that act a fool like that. Indeed, I dislike players that don't wear anything. A sweatband or headband is required to wipe your sweat off, and players who play hard always sweat.

K0be4mvp wrote:Whats worse if they do a headband / 1 high sock / Arm sleeve / Calf sleeve combo for no particular reason

I have short hair and use a headband, in order to wipe the sweat off, a knee sleeve, because my knee hurts every time I play Basketball, and two W.W.J.D. Bands, because I believe in God. What you wear should really be reasonable. Look at Mo-Pete and K-Mart... an elbowband/forearmband, a legband, and a headband. What do they need all this stuff for?

I really dislike those kind of players. Whats worse if they do a headband / 1 high sock / Arm sleeve / Calf sleeve combo for no particular reason. I used to wear a headband a few years ago, untill the whole And1 mixtape and street image took over the game of basketball and no every team has about 2 or 3 of those "Yo Ima cross ya up homez in da 3 minutez ma coach lemme play yall" players with the correct accesory ofcourse to complete the image.

Wearing bands and such simply for display is toolish behaviour, but a guy I once played against a guy who covered himself in mud - he apparently thought it would be cool/funny if he made himself "black". In reality, he was a loser with mud smeared all over him from head to toe. This was in an organised junior competition too (under 18s, if I remember correctly)...if I'd been the ref, I wouldn't have let him play like that.

hight socks are grounds for an ass whoopin i dont think you would have said that to alot of the legend ballers of the past. they probably would have kicked your ass

High Socks are always used when teams use retro jerseys. just to get a feal of how games were back then. doesnt mean your a tool and people are gonna try and kick your ass. you were misinformed

1. nobody cares if legends wore them, they still looked like tools no matter how good they are

2. long socks = TOOL

long socks isn't a base of ass whooping. my teams star player has high sock and he score like 24+ points during my college time.

I sometimes buy long socks because i like soccer and its a fashion statement here.

wow, must be his long socks that make him a star  i don't care how much he scores, he's a tool

fashion my ass, that's just an excuse tools use to justify the reason for looking like tools....long socks are for soccer (football) and they wear them to keep their shin pads in place. Bball players don't need shin pads. Don't wear long socks cos your a tool.

Back onto sweatbands....I used to wipe my sweat with my shirt but then that got saturated and didn't work so i bought a head band which works great. Arm bands work great too....you only need one or the other.

I think for many playewrs who constantly wear this sort of items, its becomes some what of confort fell. Like a headband gives u a more secure fell for your head, same fro ur armbands and sleves. That if you would take it off, you'll fell naked! would you rather play with full gear or naked?! For exemple, i fell comfortable wearing long sock because u had some calf issues in the past, so wearing them helps me mentaly.

Those player who wear gear beacuse NBA players were them or just for the look, do it for the wrong reasons. It will only slow them down, coz they constatly know that something is hanging off them. Watch a guy wearing an Iverson sleeve and ull see that he if moving slower with that arm, as if to make sure that EVERy shot goes in to proof that the sleeve is "MAGIC"!!!

You alwaty need to wear what you fell comfortable in, thats the way NBA players do it. Stealing someonen's style will only do you harm!

I never used to wear any sort of accessories, until I wore long socks once to cover a dodgy looking bandaid I was wearing (the only ones we had were from the "Little Miss" series :?) and managed to score 25 points, in an adult comp I was averaging 11 in. So I kept doing it, until I moved to england then I got rid of the socks and once again played horribly... and once again, for my last game I got the long socks out and scored our first 11 points and easily had my best game in England. If I start playing again the socks stay, and for anyone who might want to give me an "ass whoopin" for doing so might want to take into account that I would kick their ass badly.

Damn right. Once I started wearing a headband, I can't put it off. Otherwise it isn't me! Same for ankle supports...

I wear a headband because I sweat a lot and if the sweat on my face dries up I'll get those friggin' pimples (?) on my face... besides a headband I don't wear any other accesoires besides a Livestrong band (which I bought just before the Tour de France started and I wear it because of everyone I've lost in my life about 80% died of cancer)

Let's state it like this, accesoires for no reason = TOOL
and I don't see why you would NEED to wear high socks so:
high socks = TOOL

Why do you NEED to wear that Livestrong band? It's a nice reason to do it, but is it a need? What if I was wearing high socks to respect people I know who've died?

I always play ball old school. The only accessory I wore was a knee brace in my last year of high school ball because of jumper's knee. I felt like going from a 24 year old Michael Jordan to a 39 year old Michael Jordan in a span of a year :x

I do sweat a lot, but I don't mind going at it without a headband, but I would like to try it out to see how effective it is.

and yet he envy's me cos i'm not a tool :P

i only feel naked when my pants start to slip off during games...someone pulled th strings out of my shorts and i had silky boxers on.

Anyways, i dont see a magical connection between long socks and playing well. Maybe opponents cant concentrate because long socked ppl look ridiculous and that's how they score. Add JYD and Glenn Robinson to the list of tools.

About that "Feeling Naked" thing.

I jammed my finger in grade 10 during a game so I got it taped up for the rest of the game. I found it hard to play with the tape so I bought a finger band for it, and I found it easier to shoot with the finger band than the tape.

But now, even though my finger is healed, I can't seem to play without it. I always wear a finger band and an elastic on my right hand, and a wrist band just under my elbow on my right arm.

So the "feeling naked" thing is not that stupid, it happens to me too.

Look at Q-Rich. Seems as if he is the "mighty mutant role model". Does he really need all the accessories? Without bands his weight is 230 punds, and with he's 300. :P

Keith, is that you?

Forgive about my remark on long socks, please? Oh wait, you sucked on the Knicks so... FUCK YOU

I miss Keith van Horn though, KVH > Tim Thomas (why isn't he wearing long socks?)

Than you have a valid reason to wear high socks IMO, but I doubt you were serious. About the LiveStrong bands, it's not needed to wear them when you've lost people to cancer, but to me it's just something like: "we didn't forget you".
Also these days I refuse to take my LiveStrong band of just because all (ignorant) people wear them...

Yes, Short Hair works with a Headband..

Look at Allen Iverson into the Second Half of his Rookie Season.

I actually wear Headbands in school for no reason, besides the fact it makes me look good, but it helps for when I sweat in P.E. or something.

Actually My Headband is a LeBron James Nike Headband that matches my LeBron II's. No I do not look like a tool.
