Agreed, there were Pacers involved in the whole incident, but the behaviour of the fans (the ones involved in the throwing and attacking players) was just wrong. There's being passionate, and there's being an angry mob. I singled Ben Wallace out because his shove triggered the mess and in my opinion, was way out of line given Artest's foul, but both teams combined for that disgusting display.

Good thing Wallace isn't gonna take shit from a punk like Artest

All he did was foul wallace... Ben wallace was more of a punk than i had ever seen. so much for this "superstar" talk. He's a wanker. This is the new version of Miami/New York.
I don't care if Wallace was unsportsmanlike, Artest deserved an ass kicking. Just like Fortson deserved it last season, just like Okur deserved it a few nights ago.

If anyone deserves an asskicking its that cocksucker Chauncey Billups. He's such an ugly cunt.

You have to be kidding. Artest didnt shove wallace at all. Those spastic piston fans.. i bet you indy grows stronger from this. I think i have myself a new favourite to win the championship.

I guess calling it a shove was to harsh, your right though. Artest just "moved" Wallace away from him after the foul, but he didn't mean to do anything to Wallace.

probably, and with the death of his brother a week ago adding fuel to the fire. All in all, Artest deserves an ass-whooping for being a dumbass.

Wow, you guys they just showed more footage that makes this even crazier:

As Artest was walking away from the fight some chubby fan in a Hamilton jersey jumps in front of him and starts talking shit and Artest flat out punches him in the face, and as another fan is about to go after Artest Jermaine O'neal slides into that fan to knock him to the ground and shoves him when he tries to get up....

Wow...this was crazy.

artest sucker punched a fan who was tryin to talk to him as he was leaving.. the fan took exception, tried to go after artest but was held down.. then jermaine o'neal comes running in and smokes him as well, so JO's probably gonna get suspended too

so far the people i think are gonna get suspended are:

JO
artest
fred jones
jackson

i thought i saw tinsley but im not too sure

I just saw the feed from Fox West and Artest sucker punched a fan on the way out of the stands, and then O'Neal ran in and hit the guy. There's going to be a lot of suspensions. I wish the Raptors played Indiana next week, may be they could actually win.

why would wallace get 5 games and artest get 14 games when wallace mugged artest in the face which basically started most of this along with the fans?

i think this will improve the nba's tv ratings now. it came from a bad cause, but they will still be making alot of money off this. this is probably going to be the biggest rivalry from now on since the lakers vs. celtics back in the day

Jackson is expected to get more than Artest...

Billups and Campbell will get one game each for leaving the bench during an altercation.

And its been said that O'neal might not get anything because he was "defending a teammate".

Artest will get more than Wallace for going into the stands and punching fans and then sucker pucnhing another fan. Punching a fan is a serious offense, it's pretty much the same as me beating up my 90yr old neighbour.....there could be a lawsuit happening here.

Hey maybe Darko will play next game....kick ass!!!!

If they make some arrests and those fans turn out to be season ticket holders, they might be barred from a few games or have their season tickets revoked (as a fan in Boston did a couple of years back).

I don't think the coaches should be suspended, and Rasheed Wallace was doing his best to be a peacemaker (or so it seemed). As bad as Artest's actions in the crowd were, I think Ben Wallace deserves a similar suspension and fine due to his actions (and the fact he didn't exactly cool down after that).

For the record, here's NBA.com's recount of the incident:

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Stephen Jackson made quite a first impression on the overheated rivalry between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons.

Jackson delivered knockout punches of all kinds as the Pacers brawled with fans in the stands and on the court after a 97-82 victory over the Pistons, a game that was called with 45 seconds to play.

In one of the craziest melees in NBA history, Jackson, Ron Artest and Jermaine O'Neal all delivered haymakers to unruly Pistons fans, who showed the worst side of their behavior by throwing everything from plastic bottles to chairs at members of the Pacers.

The Pacers fought back - literally. Several went into the stands to accost fans who had thrown things. Jackson climbed into the seats and landed a roundhouse right that floored a fan who had thrown a plastic beer bottle at Artest, hitting him in the face.

Fans continued to throw things and verbally accost members of the Pacers. Several came onto the court and one took a fighting stance against Artest, who dropped him with a punch. O'Neal ran over and floored another fan with a righthanded blow.

Fighting with each other minutes earlier, the Pacers and Pistons quickly teamed up to fight off the fans.

Referees called the game, which forced the Pacers to make their way through a gauntlet of angry fans who continued to throw objects despite pleas from Pistons coach Larry Brown. Players and team officials were showered with beer, soda and popcorn.

I think its a mandatory thing by the league, I know neither actually got involved. Same with Billups, Campbell, Delfino, Harrison, Rashweed, just one for leaving the bench and/or entering the stands. I was really proud of Rasheed though, he was doing his best to break it up.

And btw, the next time the Pistons play the Pacers, is DECEMBER 25th.
Merry Christmas :D

Which is why I put it in quotes, anybody could just use I was defending a teammate as an excuse.

Except for Artest and Ben.

I just saw a clear shot of Jermaine punching the fan. Wow, he swung his hand with full force and hit the dead on in the face and he went down with his eyes closed...

Not too smart to get involved with a guy as big as Jermaine.
