Kobe forced Shaq and Phil out......two people who are far more greater than he is and maybe ever will be, hes just jacking up shots now just like Iverson was doin last season and the seasons before...hes 39% from the field, having career lows in assists n well the Lakers are prolly the worst Lakers team of all time.

Lebron has just Ilgauskas as a regular contributor, Gooden one day plays like hes Top 5 PF, the next he plays like a guy that belongs in the USBL.....and who else??...Mcinnis and Snow?

^^  so true though

yeh im just tired of ppl saying Kobe's the next MJ...hes not...hes just Kobe...Lebron's not Magic...hes Lebron, but King James is a King while Kobe is his subject

I like Kobe, but I dunno I think after this offseason I just think hes just trying to prove something that hes not gonna be able to proove..and that he can lead a crapish team by himself.

Bron Bron's a phenom, Kobe's well just Special but not super duper ultra oh my god Im gonna start a religion named after him (like they done for Maradona), outta this world special

Hopefully Kobe realises this when hes goes for therapy....

ok i have never hid the fact that i dont like kobe but if you ask me he is the better player now. i will also tell you that in a couple years i think lebron will be better and in the end will be considered a better player than kobe was, but as of right now, no he is not better. also, even if this has nothing to do with the topic i feel like saying it, i dont think either will be considered better than mj.

Lebron's seven-game stretch has been better than Kobe's nine-game stretch. That's all you can really say right now. Lebron will have his low points, and so will Kobe. Kobe will have his high points, and so will Lebron. It's hard to compare someone in his second year to a proven NBA great until we see more of what he can do, especially in the playoffs.

I wouldn't call Kobe a proven NBA great, a proven superstar, but NBA great, since when?

He is a great player playing in the NBA. Therefore, he is a NBA great. He might not be one of the greatest players in NBA history, but he is definitely a great player in the NBA.

"I could protest until my dying day … I will swear to you, absolutely positive, at no time did Kobe ever, ever say, 'I want Shaq gone' or 'I want Phil gone,' " Buss said. "We never, ever had those kind of discussions."

"Unlike Bryant, who said he would not read Jackson's book, Buss said he found the book to be entertaining, although not fully accurate. "

How did he force them out?

You can directly be responsible for things or inderectly be responsible for things.

Direct: He says he wants O'Neal & Jackson gone.

Indirect: He says he will base his decision on re-signing with LA depending on if Shaq & Phil are still around. That created a bit too much doubt in the Lakers management's mind & given Phil, Shaq don't have the best rapport with Bryant, they decided if they keep Phil & Shaq, Kobe won't resign. That is what he meant with I'll base my decision on if they are still around or not around.

That was an indirect way of getting rid of Shaq & Phil. That quote shows that Kobe didn't outright go & say: "Hey, I want them gone." Nah, he just said he'll base his decision on re-signing depending on Shaq & Phil's return.

Anyways, I'm tired of this discussion and I think it's been discussed a few too many times. We've all got our opinions and none of the parties are willing to see it from each others point of view.

Let's just forget it, move on & let it be.

I don't like either of them. I'm not denying that they have skills, but anyone who gets immeadiatly compared to Jordan out of High School I cannot respect.

kobe definetly forced them out. of course buss is going to say something like that, its all pr. you think he is gonna come out and say "kobe told me he will leave if shaq stays so i sent the big fella away for less than he was worth just to keep kobe happy". no way he would say that, specially since shaq is more popular than kobe.

I think Kobe is going down hill too soon. Magic Johnson once said he thought Kobe would get 9 rings... that could be true if he played well, and was with Shaq till he (Kobe) was around 30... but he's going downhill too fast. KG is about a couple years older then Kobe, and he's STILL getting better and better and better... Kobe's only 25 I think, and he's basically playing similar every year (although now he's trying to get teammates invovled at times...). He's just inconsistent this year, and when his teammates do bad and it's up to him, he's inconsistent too.

Kobe's just going up in scoring but nothing else really, while Bron's gone down in scoring.....when do they matchup against each other anybody in here know???

Lebron's gonna have the better season, the Cavs have a shot at the Central while Lakers r gonna fight off for 7/8th in the West.

"He hit some hard shots," said Tayshaun Prince, who was outscored 43-4 in his matchup with James. "He's the hardest guy in the league to guard. His speed, quickness and athletic ability are unmatched."

Remember, this is coming from a guy who locked Kobe down in the finals.

i never thought lebron was this good. after seeing his performance last night, i think he will be the best player in the nba in about 2-3 more years. i really never think to players being the best in the league or like the next MJ because i haven't seen anybody that is really in MJ's category, but after seeing lebron and what he can do, he can most definitely be the next mj "IF" he can continue his performance and try to get the cavs to a championship. he is also real strong and big, and when he dribbles the ball, it looks like a fisher price ball because his hands so big  even when he dunks, its like he dunking on a 5 foot goal because he go up so high

When you see how much he has improved in 1 year it's incredible.
Im just wondering if he started to play so young in the nba if he's going to be able to keep it up until he's 30 or something.
We don't really have many examples for durability in the nba of players who came from high school and started to tear it up immediately.

like KG maybe? KG came straight outta HS and has been improving his game nearly every season, maybe LeBron can do that as well, if he does and the core guys of the Cavs develop and stick together, they may well be title contenders.

the one thing i wish i could change about lebron........

his jersey number.

i'd prefer a player of lebron's (potential) caliber to have his own complete legacy.
