good q, personally, i would put the ball in grant's hands till it comes down to crunch time; then i'd hand the ball over to stevie

That is if Steve gives up the ball in the first place :D.

so true :D, but then again grant is smart enough to know that orlando's success will ultimately be determined by francis and howard, im sure he wont demand the ball for scoring opportunities like some people do

- well he was 'mr nice guy' wasnt he?

Fri Oct 29, 2004 6:12 pm

depends what you mean by mr. nice guy :P he sure as hell wasn't nice when he was dunkin on ewing, mutombo and mourning. ahhh good times :(

20pnts (10-21), 4 reb and 2 ast.....he even made a key jumper with 20 secs left.

Not bad

Thu Nov 04, 2004 5:23 pm

his career is over hehehe

Thu Nov 04, 2004 5:26 pm

i'm happy for hill

hope he keeps it up or at least is able to still play 30min+ on the back end of the back to back this sat vs the bobs

Thu Nov 04, 2004 5:56 pm

man grant hills performance was pretty spectacular.. clutch too.. for some reason i thought he was gonna twist his ankle before he sank that jumper over van horn.. everything seemed so slow-mo, but meh.. that was great nonetheless :)

Thu Nov 04, 2004 6:35 pm

Go Grant.. I never saw his magic in his earlier years but i do know he was compared to MJ and was capable of 30, 8 and 6 on any given night... and after so long being out its great to see he is playing well!

Thu Nov 04, 2004 9:32 pm

Nice start for Hill, hopefully he'll be able to stay healthy and keep posting good numbers. ***Jinx Alert*** He may not be at a level where he can be the star of the team leading them to victory night in and night out, but he could be still capable of being a very good number two or number three guy. ***Jinx Alert***

andrew nice to see you back :)

anyways, i thought it was pretty cool how steve francis gave the ball up to grant hill during crunch time (right before the mike redd banker).. i marked out huge when he made that shot, hopefully signs of good things to come.. i seriously think this year IS the year.. maybe 18-5-5 isn't such a bad guess after all :)

Fri Nov 05, 2004 6:14 am

I think Hill goes for [14-15]-5-4 this season with about 43-44% shooting.

Fri Nov 05, 2004 8:00 am

grant hill is actually in the best situation possible. he is not really expected to perform big this season so anything he does is huge. last few years they really needed him badly to help mcgrady but this year they got players who can score so hill can kinda sit back and let the game come to him and by doing so post some pretty good numbers. the pressure is off of him now so he can focus on playing and staying healthy. also if he continues to play this good all season long and howard also keeps his game on the incline then the magic could be a big factor in the playoffs.

kinda like McDyess....no pressure....they both took time out this time to heal their injuries and hopefully both are back for good

Their was pressure in New York, but getting traded to Phoenix was great for him, he was just a complimentary player, played tough defense, rebounded, and hit the open jumpshot. In New York they wanted him to be a go to guy.

Sun Nov 14, 2004 1:45 am

right now he is averaging 19pts, 6rebounds, 3 assists, and 2steals, not bad..too bad him and T-mac never got to work out.

Sun Nov 14, 2004 2:56 am

you can look at it 2 ways really. you can be possitive and say, " well any production outa hill is good and so far he is playing far beyond expectations". or you can be negative and go "still aint worth the max deal". personally i gotta take the high road and say hill will help the magic a boat load this season.

i'm with you saaru, he's been pretty clutch in 2 games this year ( jumper over van horn w/ 19 seconds left, two three's against the lakers last night ) plus he's pretty efficient.. 48% from the SF spot, that's probably one of the top 5 in the league.. he's averaging 19-6-3 right now.. wouldnt be surprised if he pulls a 19-6-5

It's only a few games into the season, people are probably still shooting 70%. :D

I've had so many basketball practices that I haven't been able to watch much basketball. That is impressive though.

The season is young and Hill's foot is just begging to be jinxed, but so far, so good. Much better than I would have anticipated. I know there's not much point saying "What If?" right now, but perhaps it would have been wiser for Hill to sit out the 2000/2001 season. It seems that a full year to recover from surgery has paid off.

Mon Nov 15, 2004 8:15 pm

about the max contract thing, that's not Hill's fault. Orlando knew he was injured before they signed him. They were the ones taking the huge risk.

Mon Nov 15, 2004 11:03 pm

Hill contract is the least of the subject imo. Everyone knew he deserved it since he was such a great player. He is still putting up pretty good numbers right now. If he wasn't injuried I think he would be putting up numbers similar to LeBron right now.

Rather, Hill was an explosive, athletic player that most of us would call a "swingman." Unfortuantly, Hill's injury has had great affect on his physical gifts, specifically the ones that made him good, and will no doubt reduce his speed, mobility, and explosiveness - The very things Hill relied on to be so good in the first place.

sorry this late.. but just caught this now

one of hill's greatest assets was non physical: his feel for the game. offensively, hill's game was comparable to pippen's, arguably better, just without the 3's. even without blinding explosiveness, hill would still be able play point forward and still be an effective player.
