From what I understand Butler's problem is that he isn't the brightest bulb in the box, so to speak.

And if Stromile Swift is any indication, that means he's not going to get much better.

whats worse though. having all sorts of talent and not enough smarts to use it the right way, or having loads of talent and being to damn lazy to do anything with it.

I have to disagree. It's hard for me to digest that a player gets worse after his rookie season. An injury free Butler is good news for the Lakers

can't speak for the man but from people that know him. you can't knock a man who's willing to give up his individuality to play a role suited for the team.

They may have the same abilities but I don't see the killer instinct in Tracy to take his team all the way. He's one of those players that is great until the going gets tough. But I hope the Lakers and Rockets are powerhouses for years to come so we can watch them in the same conference. Yao and T-Mac..two sissys with unbelievable ability.

this is exactly what sets these 2 apart imo. the killer instinct as you said. the drive and will to win. kobe has this and tmac dont. well i wont say he dont, its just no way near the level of kobe's.

Having not enough smarts. The lazy players can sometimes get tired of not having all the accolades and blossom after that. Example: Gary Payton. He admittedly didn't work on his game the first two years he was in the league, assuming that he could get by with instinct alone, being the #2 pick and all. Then he saw that it wasn't going to work for him that way, and he turned into the Glove.

We don't really know that. He hasn't had the team to compete for a championship yet. It's easy to have the "will to win" when you have other great players on your team who can let you rest up for the fourth quarter. We'll find out this year.

chucky atkins isnt better than anyone, he plays like he has a paper bag over his head....

Yao (17,9,2,2)>>Divac(10,6,5,1)
Howard (17,7,2,.3)<Odom (17,10,4,1)
Jackson (13,6,3,1) > Butler (12.5,5,2,1)
Lue (10,2,4,1)>>>>>>>Atkins (8,2,4,1 and i rounded up on everything with him)

Points, Rebounds, Assists, and Blocks (C and PF) or Steals (SF and PG), these are rounded numbers of course..
Houston 57 pts, 24 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals
Los Angeles 47 pts, 23 rebounds, 18 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals

LA has way more assists, but is way down in points. the rest is pretty much even.

So i've come to my conclusion that the LAL and Rockers starting lineup supporting cast is pretty much equal, but i give the edge to houston, due to the fact that they score more points. If you score and no one gets an assist, is it really any worse than scoring and having your center get an assist? The bench of course, is a different story, i havent even looked at the teams benches, because i dont feel like it, so um, someone else can do that if they want.
