I like Kwame but if he dont show us what hes capable of, then im gonna have to drop my head, and call him a bust, right now hes playing better off the bench, so lets hope.
But people, just think Jermaine O'Neal.................5 seasons????? it took him, or 4.

So far though, after a few seasons in the league, its the Candiman, hes playing like crap!!

worst top 3 pick ever, Sam Bowie :P

Kwame Brown is close but still hasn't had enough time to make a final call. Most other guys who disappointed were injured. Thus Joe Smith gets my vote.

What the...

Was Hakeem Olajuwon a good pick?

Taken after Olajuwon:

Michael Jordan
John Stockton
Charles Barkley

Where has Antonio McDyess been for the past 3 years?
I am not even sure teams would rather have Rasheed Wallace or Jerry Stackhouse's careers over Joe Smith. Stackhouse had nice breakout season a few years ago, but is injuried and not such a great teammate on or off the court, and a few points and rebounds in more playing time for Sheed coupled with Sheed's complete lack of any integrity may not be enough to overtake Smith's production and non-problems.

Why make such leaps, the guy has been solid, but you insist on being right always, especially with me. You can believe he's a bust if you want to, but showing everyone drafted after him doesn't really prove he hasn't played well himself.

I personally under no circumstances would have selected Akeem Olajuwon ahead of Michael Jordan, no if's, and's or but's about it.
But obviously this doesn't make Olajuwon a bust.

kandi man. he has been decent, but not worthy of #1 pick(too bad they picked him #1). he was picked over many great/good players since 98 was a great draft year

The obvious assumption in my Joe Smith statement is that the players taken after him are better.

If you want it to be more clear...pretend that I said "People taken after Joe Smith who turned out better."

but you insist on being right always, especially with me.

So you're going to make this personal too, huh?

Players taken after Akeem Olajuwon were better than him too, so what's your point?

Because players taken after the number one pick might be better, doesn't mean the number one pick is a bust.
Can you please just take the step in logic? Honestly no insult intended here.

So you're going to make this personal too, huh?

You admit it's personal to you, therein lies the problem.

This has become complete childish behavior and I will no longer take part in this, but Ernest take a long look at all that has happen in past week, take a look at your example of leadership, friendliness, kindliness, open-mindedness, patience, admittance and tolerance.

i don't think Joe Smith was a bad one.......he had some good year and then he went to Minnesota....if he had gone somewhere else he would have been better

do u all see whats going on here, it seems more superstars come out of late picks then the No1 picks, coz th eway i see it that the team with no1 takes the player whose possision they need, with LAc they neded size, Joe was there for the wolfs and Brown has size and skill.

and with Kwame Brown issue i look at it like this, u have 2 kids, one grows up in an environment wehre he is the king, where bball comes second and very little chalnge, no one pays attention to him coz hes like in a kinda garden, on the other hand u have a kid who is brough up in a proffesional environment where the best baller play and bball coms first.

both will be in nba soon but the HS kid is there first so by the time the collag kid blossons the HS kidd is more of a superstar,

if ur follwing with me, Brown is the same thing, none of u knwo what he's capable of, none of u see him at practice, he needs time and it has been shows over and over again.

the ONLY reason LBJ is survivign so well is coz of his court vison, I cant explain Amare Stodomire coz he's just form another planet, Kwame just needs more time

Well Joe Smith was selected by Golden State, but I get your idea.

Image
Kwame has still been overexposed more than he should have, being that he was
Michael Jordan's "chosen one".

Personally I thnk he'll be real good, but I wouldn't have used a number one overall pick on him or Chandler or Curry, so I guess if I had the information of someone who had already played pro basketball and was nearly as young as the mentioned players, I would have taken Gasol, but honestly I hadn't heard that much about Gasol, so I probably would have taken Eddie Griffin, although Jason Richardson was there, he was a shocker to go that high. Shane Battier was there, but I would never take a four-year Duke player, there has been a history of these players peeking at Duke. The entire draft that year was about 10 players that are good now, but Kwame with 20/20 hindsight would not be the #1 pick. But with that same hindsight,
I would take Gasol then Randolph.

If they could do it again who knows for sure:

ImageImage
1. Washtingon - Pau Gasol
2. LA Clippers - Zach Randolph (do not get Elton Brand)
3. Grizzlies - Jason Richardson
4. Chicago - Tyson Chandler
5. Golden State - Gilbert Arenas
6. Grizzlies - Richard Jefferson
7. New Jersey - Joe Johnson (Houston would not trade up again)
8. Cleveland - Tony Parker
9. Detroit - Mehmet Okur
10. Boston - Troy Murphy
11. Boston - Eddy Curry
12. Seattle - Shane Battier
13. Houston - Vladimir Radmanovic

Still Available: Kwame Brown, DeSagana Diop, Rodney White, Kedrick Brown, Jason Collins, Earl Watson, Eddie Griffin and Brendon Haywood.

Depending on need of course many of these might still be different, some teams may still take Kwame, Griffin or Kedrick Brown over Battier or Radmanovic. The anti-Shaq is still someone others might take higher as well in Eddy Curry.

No insult taken. I have no problems with discussing the NBA or my opinions involving it...that's why this board is here.

I didn't say Joe Smith was a bust...he's my choice for worst #1 pick among the guys I've seen. He doesn't seem to have been hampered by a major injury (from what I know) and he seems to have the highest umber of players taken after him who turned out significantly better.

That's my reasoning.

Now there would be no problem if your post ended there...but you violate the rules again...and violate warnings about taking up issues with the moderating and attacking people personally again...as seen here...

This has become complete childish behavior and I will no longer take part in this, but Ernest take a long look at all that has happen in past week, take a look at your example of leadership, friendliness, kindliness, open-mindedness, patience, admittance and tolerance.

[b]You keep poking away. Issues about moderating are to be taking up in private. So I'm warning you again.[b]
