I still think he might end up in Boson or LA. I think the Clippers are willing to give up Livingston as sources indicated lately. Well when you look at it realistic there are only a couple of teams who might get iverson.

1. Boston (not really a team AI considers as he wants to be more successful)
2. Indiana (might be the best choice for him but I would die inside if he plays for Indy)
3. Clippers (my personal favourite and I hope he gets there)
4. Denver (Well, might work and I don't mind seeing him there)

Miami recently showed interest but they would have to include either two of Walker, Posey, Williams or Haslem and a future talent like Wright to make the trade work. Might work as well, Williams is a guard the Sixers need, and Haslem has talent. But I think there are better offers out there right now. Another not mentioned possibility is San Antonio. Ginobili + Williams (expiring contract) + Barry (soon to expire) for AI. But considering the System of the Spurs and the Sixers longing for young talent at least Beno Udrih or Tony Parker would have to be involved.

Now it appears Miami is interested in Iverson. Wade and Iverson in the same backcourt, along with Shaq in the middle... what a combo. I think AI would be willing to defer to Wade and Shaq, since they're by far better than anyone he's every played with before. Those two creating plays for each other would be a really good for Miami.. and with the 3 of them on the same team, teams would have to play them man for man.

Jason Williams, Antoine Walker, and Dorell Wright for Iverson? Dorell Wright has really played well this year, and is still really young. J-will can replace Iverson in the lineup, and Antoine would make the salaries match. I cant find the duration of the salaries, but monetarily speaking , that trade would work.

I think Miami would be damaged with Iverson, they will become like Real Madrid of football. Tonnes of stars and high contracts but a lack of team work and chemistry. Either Shaq, Wade or Iverson is going to get pissed off during the season about something that team would never work.

Wade isn't a ballhog. He's one of the most unselfish superstars; I dont think he would have any objections to getting a little more help in Iverson. Who is to say AI isn't to the point in his career where he wants to win? He's ready to leave a place he really loves for a winning team, so I would say he's ready to take a smaller role for the sake of winning. Miami is perfect in that regard.

my question is, what the heck is Stern going to do for the all-star game if Iverson gets traded to the west?

My question exactly....
I guess Iverson would not attend because it would take too much time and work to reset the ballots for one person.

No way... J-will getting traded after being only one year with the team and starting? Dorell Wright getting traded just when he's proven worthy of starting job?
I'm okay with Antoine getting traded because he sucks ass this year.
Anyway I think Iverson,Wade and Shaq is pretty stacked, but I'd like to see what will teams do in such a case, they'll need six players on the court just to double team the 3. :P

You honestly think the Heat would rather keep Jason freaking Williams instead of using him in a deal for Iverson?

It looks like AI is on his way to Denver my friends, every team has dropped out except for the Nuggets all they have to do now is work out a deal. It might look something like this

Andre Miller or Earl Boykins
Joe Smith
Nene

Possibly a third team involved aswell which is out of Charlotte or Portland.

Charlotte Sending Brevin Knight somewhere and Portland sending Magloire somewhere.

With Iverson on board that makes Denver one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA, imagine facing off against Iverson, JR Smith, Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby all at the same time!!! If they double Iverson it leaves Melo open if they double Melo it leaves Iverson open if they double both it leaves Camby, Smith and Najera open. We will finally have the pieces to push us through the first round of the playoffs as Melo will get help and possibly win a title.

Ofcorse not,but still 2 Superstars are better than 3,especially when they are Wade Shaq and Iverson. I mean,Iverson would just take the ball and score,Wade will do the same, but assisting aswell, and shaq will just be dominant as always :P

Donnie said they'd rather give up Shawne Williams, Tinsley, Harrison and an 08 pick!! Fuck that shit I like the team we have now, although Harrison never plays, he's a big body we can use, and Shawne Williams has lots of potential. . we just need to keep our guys for a few years, Our starting unit seems like it;s gelling, I don't want it all fucked up if Iverson gets here

Very true nets4life. If Philly accepts a trade involving either Boykins or Smith the chemistry might be better. If they keep those two and get AI it might be fucked up. I really hope they get rid of Boykins and get AI, then I can finally enjoy Nuggets games.

J-Will? why not trade payton? he's only got one or two years left in him anyway. I think the Heat are in serious fucking trouble with the age of their team...they have many aged all stars/future hall of famers (wade and j-wil exceptionsl) and i dont see more than 3 or 4 more years IF THAT in Zo, Shaq, Walker, or Payton. If they make a trade for Iverson, i have a feeling Payton would go before J-Will. But we shall see. I'm sick of waiting but i guess the NBA cant help that no one can make a trade work.

Does anyone know the conditions of the nixed charlotte trade? that interested me; to see the value of iverson in Charlottes eyes. They seem to be a smart team in management (well right now the Morrison pick sucked but give him time) and i wanted to see what they offered up for AI

You know what... you're right,Payton was a great player but he sucks ass now,Iverson for Payton and Walker sounds nice for me,despite Iverson being pretty old himself.
I think that without Walker, either Posey or Wright can start as smalls, while AI is a point guard who's backed up by J-Will.
But still, this is pretty much Stacked...

Oh and btw,I don't think Payton will survive till the end of this season, not even mentioning the next 2.

Until Iverson stops leading the league in scoring, he's not getting old ;-) But anyway, i agree with matt...Walker and Payton NOW for Iverson NOW? ugh thats terrible. If the heat do it i could see a couple of the vets, a rookie/sophomore and/or picks having to go. Iverson doesnt seem to be in a hurry to retire so barring injury i think he could still be around for a substantial amount of time.

Update from RealGM

NBA league sources say that the Denver Nuggets are close to a deal that would bring All-star point guard Allen Iverson from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Mile High City.

The sources say the deal could be reached as early as Friday.

Iverson demanded a trade from Philadelphia, where he has played his entire career.

A source familiar with negotiations sas it would be a complicated trade involving at least three teams and at least five players. In addition, the Nuggets would likely have to give up both of their first round draft picks in the next draft.

Philadelphia 76ers management has said every team in the NBA contacted them about acquiring Iverson.

The point-guard is the leading vote-getter at his position in the Eastern Conference in All-star balloting.

I think Sixers win a lot by getting two draft picks for this upcoming draft, which is deep, deep. They're set for the future now that they're moving forward with a young team.

Actually, Wright is starting now, and Posey was getting more minutes than Walker last games

The top players that are supposed to be in next year's draft are all underclassmen. What if they don't enter the draft?
I'd say the 2006 draft was deeper, not necessarily because the top players in it were better but because the talent level in the 2nd round and even amongst the undrafted players was still very high.
