yay, we have a 4 game winning streak, the first since we traded for rose :) . it could be extended to 5 if we shut down t-mac like we did last time. and 6 (now im really getting hopeful) if we can beat the nets again. im doubting it'll be a 7 game winning streak since we havent beat the bulls since that same rose trade i mentioned earlier :(

Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:31 pm

12-17 wizards/magic 8th seed

10-22 raptors

many games left, anything is possible

You're not going to beat the Nets either.

Well, you could look at this two ways. The Raptors and the Nets are different ball clubs when they played back in December. In December, the Raptors were considered like pushovers and now they're starting to turn the corner. Mike James has been terrific and Bosh is just amazing, not to mention Mo Pete and Charlie V. Team chemistry is really starting to kick in too. The Nets on the other hand, have more defined roles now. Vince Carter is the primary scorer and J-Kidd main playmaker. Vince is also coming off that December player of the Month. The Nets also have a more solid rotation (Lamond Murray is ACTUALLY PLAYING :? )Both teams I think have improved since their last meeting. We're 1-1 with them right now. Should be a fun game to watch.

But right now, lets just focus on the Rockets and Raptors. I think we have a good chance to win it. The Rockets got Rafer back but should be a bit tired coming off a back to back from Cleveland against King James. The Rockets are still missing key players due to injury, and if we could lock up T-Mac like we did on their court, I think we should be fine.

C'mon Raptors..5 in a Row!!

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:20 pm

honsetly i think the raptors play better when Jose isnt on ..iunno why i think that i mean hes a good pg but there's something that i dont like about his play

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:45 pm

Jose is good, but Mike James is better........................................obviously.

dude you just completely owned me with that post.

back to the houston-toronto game, this is winnable, considering how we almost completely shutdown tmac (though he had 11 assists that game, and they didnt have alston). once again, we have to take it to their front court, yao isnt in their lineup so that helps. however, we cant take dikembe mutombo lightly, the guy can still block and rebound. i say that the winner is determined by the end of the first half, but will not be a blowout.

yah the Raptors really gotta take advantage of Yao Ming not being there. I think Bosh and Villanueva can take care of Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift, but you have to be careful of Mutombo. The guy's still got some stuff left in his tank and he can still block the shots (like you said, you can't take him lightly). This time, you really have to defend T-Mac like hell. He's coming off a win in Cleveland and he's had two straight games of 30+, so he's on fire right now. Last but not least, you gotta defend Rafer and Luther Head out on the perimeter. They can light it up from downtown.

On the subject talking about Rafer, I see no reason to boo the guy. Sure, he's had clashes w/ Sam, but he's had a career year here. He wasn't looking for a trade. He was real positive on Media day in Toronto before he got dealt. He didn't tank the season like "Half Man, Half Effort".

Also look for Mike James to come up big again, playing against his former team. He always brings something special when he plays against former teams.

Sat Jan 07, 2006 11:58 am

Yes!!! :D :D :D :D 8-) 8-) 8-) Looks like its 5-in-a-row!!! Rockets are struggling so much, especially without J Howard.

--------------------------------------

EDIT: Yeah, that's five in a row, yeah that's right!! Mike James had an amazing game, same with the rest of the Raptors. Mo Pete was just amazing outside the arc, 4-for-7/ Mike James shooting 2-for-6 from outside the arc and hitting 10-of-17 fieldgoals, dishing 8 assists, and scoring a total of 30points. Bosh with a double-double, with 22points and 16rebounds. Charlie V with 21points.

Even though McGrady scored 37points today, he only shot arounf 50% from the field.

And yes, Toronto has another win, and we beat another team by 20points or more. I'm so proud of my Toronto Raptors.

I thought the Eastern Conference were going to be strong this year but still they have 8 teams under .500 by 3 games+ So anything could happen for any team in the bottom 8, even the Raptors if they keep this up...

Sat Jan 07, 2006 12:56 pm

wow, 5 game winning streak for us, bring on the nets :D Anyways, the juwan howard incident was funny, mike james started it then howard got pissed and shoved the ball into his face. it was the right decision to kick him out of the game (good job for the raptors to hold back james and not start fight) but the incident doesnt deserve a suspension, possibly a fine, but not a suspension. after he got ejected, the game was pretty much over. other than wesley and mcgrady, no one else was hustling on defence. doesnt the rest of the damn team realize mcgrady is still human.

now for my review on the raptors, everytime mcgrady had the ball, we doubled team him like mad, 97% of his posessions involved him being double teamed. in the fourth, we were nailing 3s like crazy, good shooting that quarter. once again MATT BONNER IS PLAYING WAY TOO MUCH. he didnt shoot well today and sam mitchell was still leaving him out there. early in the third, he had 4 fouls already and he doesnt put hoffa in. if it was araujo, he would have been gone even if he only has 2 IN THE THIRD QUARTER. Hoffa should have played more. in the first half, bonner play 19 MINUTES. wtf? thats way too much for a role player like him.

Anyways, if i didnt say already, great win for the raptors, hope to extend that streak to 6 on sunday :D

DAmn!! the raps game were playing really well! double teaming tmac and the threes! this game was sooo exciting!

Sat Jan 07, 2006 1:07 pm

yah that Mike James incident was pretty funny  But that to me was like the end for the Rockets tonight. They were so damn soft inside it wasn't funny. Stromile Swift just got his ass schooled by Bosh and Villanueva. Mike James was just amazing (NBA player of the week??). He basically matched McGrady (James : 30 pts, 7 boards, 8 assists. T-Mac: 37 pts, 4 boards, 3 assists).

Next up, Half Man Half Effort in town. Let's beat the Nets on our floor for the first time since Wince left T.O. LETS GO RAPTORS :!:

Exciting game. I was freaking pumped when the Raptors kept hitting 3's, just so exciting.

I will be the happiest fan alive if the Raptors win the CHampionship.. or atleast make the playoffs.

lol calm down hipn. Championship's a little too far, but playoffs i think is a possibility. The Celtics are the 8th spot right now and they're like 13-18. Orlando, Washington and Chicago are all on slides, so from now till April, anything is possible. But Championship..calm down bro

LOL yeah... championship is going too far, but yeah, playoffs is always a possibility. And we need to beat the Nets, I mean if we do, the Rapotrs might be feared in the league. I mean what if they win like 6-8in a row?

If the Raptors win 15in a row, then wow. I wish the Raptors would win 80% ofthe games till the end of the season.

Sat Jan 07, 2006 1:43 pm

Making the playoff is now a possibility especially when some of the east teams are now starting to struggle. We aren't that far behind the celtics!! I just hope everyone on the roster can stay healthy. Here we come Net!!!

Edit: Celtics, Magic and Wizards all lost tonight!!!!!!

i think the raptors are gunna go 10-1 winning streak or 10-2

Sat Jan 07, 2006 2:46 pm

who are we playing in the next 12 games?

Sat Jan 07, 2006 3:00 pm

according to chuck and jack armstrong, they said were only playing two games against teams with winning records for the whole month of january, so i think we can deffinately go on a tear during this month. lmao, instead of that 1-15 start in november, we can go 15-1 in january or whatever amount of games we play in january and only lose one

Sat Jan 07, 2006 4:40 pm

Let's hope the Raptors don't get too cocky... we have to keep in mind that Yao Ming was missing AND Howard was thrown out. I'm not trying to take anything away from the win, I'm ecstatic, but let's hope we don't play careless ball against the Nets. We have to remember where we came from... 1-15 wasn't pretty. There's nothing I want more than to continue our awesome streak against Vince and the Nets.

Sun Jan 08, 2006 1:45 am

I don't want to be the tenth win of New Jersey's winning streak. I hope we'll continue to get our act together and owndizzle those guys.
