Well, he does have to take a lot of drugs on account of his kidneys but I doubt any of them are performance enhancing. I think it's simply a matter of he hasn't played as much this year, he's probably not as fatigued or banged up as he was earlier in his career.

The same thing happened with Tim Hardaway a couple of years ago when he signed with Indiana towards the end of the regular season. His legs were fresh during the playoffs as he hadn't endured the grind of an 82 game season.

And of course, Alonzo is a warrior. He may not play much longer and he's determined to make the most of the remainder of his NBA career. Since he's no longer the focal point of the team he has the luxury of going all out as well.

If wade doesn't play then im 99% sure Detroit will win Game 6. I don't see how Miami could win without Wade who

a) is a very good defender
b) drives at the rim relentlesy
c) shoots a high %
d) sets up other guys
e) commands A LOT of attention.

w/o him they wont have anyone to create for 40+mins.

Suppose Dwyane Wade's rib injury prevents him from playing in Game 6 on Saturday. Here's the question: Should Stan Van Gundy sit Shaquille O'Neal, too?

Think about it. Playing in a road game in a hostile Palace against a team on the brink of elimination, Miami's odds would be considerably south of 50-50 minus Wade.

So why not let Shaq get two extra days of rest and come back to South Beach ready to rumble in Game 7?

It's clear that he's still not at full strength, as he's worn down in the second half of every game. Thus, having him expend 30 minutes in a losing effort in Game 6 would only wear him down further.

I don't expect the Heat to really do this – the media scrutiny of this strategy would become such a huge distraction that it wouldn't be worth it. But if I'm Stan Van Gundy, it's a very tempting thought.

what does everyone think of that?

Like i said, Pistons in 7...it's gonna take a lot to win this though.

I don't agree with it. You don't want to gamble on Game 7, even if it is at home. The Heat have bought themselves that luxury but it should remain an insurance policy. I don't think laying down your arms in this situation is a good idea at all.

Exactly. Nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs. If you have a chance to put your opponent away, don't hold back. The Spurs had the luxury of playing game 6 at home, but they didn't risk it. They took care of business.

Absolutely, no point risking your key players with little chance of coming back in a Game 6 blowout. Laying down before the game is even played is just wasting an opportunity, I'd be really surprised if the Heat do that.

... and if the Miami Heat doesn't wrap it up in game 6, (if Dwyane Wade cannot play 100%, the Miami Heat will become Miami Cold ) The Detroit Pistons may win it in game 7 (momentum & psychological advantage, afterall... they are still the defending champions, whether you guys like it or not!

Of course. In fact the Pistons did come back from 3-2 last year. Just another reason for the Heat not to sit back and rely on home court advantage in Game 7.

Well, looking forward to Game 7. Hell, if Miami is going to go to the finals this banged up & injured, I'd rather watch Detroit play San Antonio because if Miami's going to play this injured, SA will have a field day after the amount of rest they've had.

I hope the Miami players, especially Wade feels a lot better to make Game 7 memorable.

Either way thats 5 bomb threats in 2 games this year(2nd game back to detroit for the pacers receiving 4 bomb threats before the game at auburn palace) is a bit fucking much. In all honesty Stern should take stronger action against this behaviour even though there were no bombs in the end they are still guilty of posing terror threats. I could picture it now if Bush was in sterns position he'd declare war on detroit and bomb their ass.
