Oh please, that Green's dunk is way overrated. Had he not blown the candle out, he would've got 40 points. The only amazing thing about that dunk is that his head was aligned with the rim...But everybody knows that each of the participating contestants can jump that high. Damn Kapono he screw up Moon's dunk :x

Oh and Superman was hilarious. LOL.

Green's dunk was just a normal dunk plus blowing out something...creative, but he got what he deserved for that dunk...Dwight Howard didn't even dunk the ball for his last of the first round dunks.

And DAMNIT Moon, didn't you learn from Josh Smith that putting tape on the ground screws you over unless you jump from there...

AND YES DWIGHT HOWARD JUST DID HIS DOUBLE OFF THE BACKBOARD DUNK!!!!

EDIT: Nevermind, instead to guarentee he did it, he did off the bounce, smack ball off backboard, and dunk. Still sick though.

Dwight Howard vs Jamario Moon would have been more entertaining than Gerald Green in the finals...but of course...

HOLY CRAP DWIGHT HOWARD YOU ARE SICK!!!!!!

im in awe....that was a great contest. Moon and Gay didnt deserve to get into the finals. Geralds Birthday dunk was great, lol.
Opinions are my own.

The dunk contest has been fun to watch and entertaining because of Howard. Nice creativitity by both Howard and Green. Like both of their dunks

Edit: The superman dunk of Howard is already in Youtube

That is sad. It makes me think you haven't watched all star Saturday for along time. The 3 point shootout is always great, and the dunk contest has been awesome now 4 years in a row. Josh Smith brought it back with the Nique dunk, and it has been amazing ever since. The rumors of the demise of the dunk contest have been greatly overexaggerated.

I bet a total of $250 that Kapono would win the 3 point contest, and a total of $40 on Dwight Howard to win the dunk contest, so I am quite pleased with the results. I would have put my house, dog, family, bank account on Kapono though. I was 100% positive he would win. Best pure shooter in the league by a long shot.

Agreed, the birthday cake dunk wasn't that special. Though I will give him props for keeping the cake on the rim.
And Howard carried a lot of momentum ever since his Superman dunk. There was no way Green could compete with that. Personally, I think Moon got robbed and should have gotten to final round instead of Green.

My only gripe is that dwights fingers didn't touch the rim for the superman layup. This is the dunk contest...but everything up until then and the hype was perfect. His overall performance was up there with jordan and vince.

Moon was dissapointing to say the least....and rudy gay got robbed on his rock the crade dunk. Gerald green needed to do a better finish with the candle dunk.

He was so high that he threw the ball down through the rim. If he had touched the rim it wouldn't have been nearly as special.

i would agree with Yohance on Dwight. he really didn't dunk the ball. but he still deserved to win. great performance overall.

my fave dunks:
Dwight's mid-air off the backboard dunk
Dwight's windmill from behind the backboard
Green's birthday cake dunk (despite the average finish on that)
Dwight's Superman dunk
Green's Alley-oop from behind the backboard, thru the legs dunk

In order...

#1 the off the backboard thing from Dwight
#2 birthday cake dunk... I thought that was awesome, the actual dunk wasn't the center piece, not sure why people are focusing on that so much.
#3 Moon's dunk was good, he just messed it up by putting the tape down

Rudy didn't get robbed. With what else was going on, he needed to rock it more, really extend with his right hand instead of both hands on the ball before switching to the left.

And I gotta agree with Indy. I think the "flush" was more impressive than if he hit the rim.

For starters it's a dunk contest, he didn't dunk the ball. Also, you don't have to be THAT high to throw it through like he did, it hit the back of the rim, if he was ultra high it would've sailed straight through into the backing stand thing. It just looked impressive because of his size.

Will it be possible if Howard hit the rim in his superman dunk? I think its not because he is far away from the rim

i think the birthday cake dunk is a spinoff of Dwight's kiss the rim dunk. regardless, it was still very impressive.

without a doubt, the most impressive dunk of the competition was Dwight Howard throwing the ball to himself, then tapping it against the backboard then throwing it down....that was one of best Dunk contest dunks that I have seen....brilliant....

I agree that Howard's Superman Dunk was not a dunk, but I still think he deserved to win the competition based on his total package....

I liked the Green "Birthday Dunk". Was nice.

I was a little disappointed in Moon. The dunks he did, he did so effortlessly, even the one from one foot inside the FT line. It makes me think he could've done that dunk from further out. But stupid to put tape down. Utterly stupid. No blaming Kapono on that dunk, that was all on Moon.

But yeah, best Dunk contest I've seen in a while.

before this year's All-Star Saturday, I'd have definitely agreed with Sauru....for me, the All-Star Weekend usually ends on Friday with the highlight being the Rookie-Sophomore Game....I love watching the young guys play as I often don't get to see a lot of them during the season....I couldn't care less about the main All-Star game, it's been a farce for years....

although this year, All Star Saturday was much more enjoyable & good entertainment....Dwight & the rest of the dunkers really stepped up & put on a show to cap off a great night....

for me, in prior years the Dunk Contest has been a letdown....that year Iguodala blew the competition away, only to lose to that crappy midget who took like 16 attempts on his final dunk....that anti-climatic moment ruined that whole competition for me....I was so glad when Iggy declined to do dunk contest the following year, he knew he got jipped....last year's Dunk Contest was better & Green deserved to win, but this year, I think the Dunk Contest is finally back!!!

You scared me.

EDIT: Thanks for this. Although I was amazed how far Dwight took off from, he didn't dunk the ball, he threw it through. But it is hell as fun.
