Maybe if Larry and Donnie laugh long enough, they could keep Buss on the line long enough for him to offer Odom.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 6:26 am
That'd be a terrible trade by the Pacers. Why would they give up a first round pick and an All-Star for an underachiever and a role-player?
Fri Dec 16, 2005 6:43 am
just an article about lakers if they trade for artest....
http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_3309731
I think the lakers could really use artest....brown helped out the lakers problem with PF so that odom could go to SF but brown has been hurt and hasnt really been that key player the lakers were looking for....

Nuggets should trade Nene+Watson for Artest. Nene will average about 11 PPG playing at C. Watson would help them on offense. Nuggets can start Melo at 2 and Artest at small forward.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 10:10 am
I would rather start Artest at the 2 then Melo , but everyone here is talking trades that would rip the pacers off . I mean honestly , he's not just going to throw artest away for anybody.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 10:12 am
Yeah, but at this point Artest isn't worth all that much, with him demanding a trade and all.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 10:45 am
With Artest saying things like he's going to sign w/ NY as a free agent in 2 years, what team is going to give up a key member for a guy that will only be around 2 seasons?
They're not going to get equal value for Ron at this point.
The true disaster isn't that Artest wants out, that happens. It's that he publically destroyed his trade value for Indiana.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 11:22 am
Ron Artest for Eric Williams.
Anyone know how much Artest was fined by the way?
Fri Dec 16, 2005 11:34 am
he wants to go to New York, he'll be the go to guy, he'll have more press, more publicity for his music .. you know he almost quit bball for music, going to New York will help him in life, he knows bball isn't his life...
Whoever suggested Paul Pierce for Artest is ridiculously, i wouldn't give out PP for Artest even if PP was a new yorker and Artest would stay after the trade.
Artest is a superstar talent but since he won't stay long term with a team and potential off-on court problems , no 1 will give their superstar for him..
Larry Hughes is probally most you can get, but i think cavs will stick with him since he is newly acquired, hughes can prob get to 20ppg, 5apg 5rpg 2.5spg state maybe next season.. he can run da point too..
Ricky Davis would be nice for pacers, same with Rashard Lewis, Lewis is great... I would take Lewis if i were the pacers..

Really? Wow, it's kind of weird considering how much time and dedication he puts into training and being an excellent lock-down defender.

Word has it, a Western Conference GM is prepared to offer an all star.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ess/051215
All stars from last year are:
Kobe
T-Mac
Duncan
KG
Yao
Ray Allen
Manu
Dirk
Amare
Nash
Marion
Rashard Lewis
I'd take any of those guys in a heartbeat.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 2:39 pm
im guessing lewis
some team is going to do VERY well out of all this, just like the GM said in the interview
Fri Dec 16, 2005 3:22 pm
Kobe
T-Mac
Duncan
KG
Yao
Ray Allen
Manu
Dirk
Amare
Nash
Marion
Rashard Lewis
OK, we can rule out Kobe, T-Mac, Duncan, KG, Yao, Allen, Dirk, Amare, Nash, Marion & Manu....that leaves....Lewis.

Well they would effectively be renting him. A team that needs that 1 player to win the championship would proabably do the trade (Dallas perhaps) as they get better and have a chance to win before the window closes. Kind of like Detroit "rented" Rasheed to get the championship (and then resigned him)
EDIT: my pre-season prediction that SAS wouldn't make the Finals suddenly looks more credible.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 3:27 pm
is it possible to do a artest/lewis straight swap?
8.5m vs 6.5m
if not, it would have to be a deal with many anthony johnson or fred jones or even eddie gill??
Fri Dec 16, 2005 4:03 pm
nope, gotta add other players in the mix.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 4:58 pm
I want him to go to cleveland so much man..
Snow/Jones
LeBron
Artest
Gooden/Marshall
Zyndrunas
Fri Dec 16, 2005 4:59 pm
thatd be insane... but if he is whinging for not enough shots atm, you think ronron will be happy behind james?

USA Today - If the agent for disgruntled forward Ron Artest gets his wish, his client will remain with the Indiana Pacers . Artest went public with his desire to be traded last weekend, and the Pacers are trying to accommodate him.
"Hopefully, it won't get done, and we can iron out the differences and work past this," said Mark Stevens, Artest's agent. "Indiana is a great city, a great organization. Both entities need each other."
Stevens acknowledges that he's engaging in wishful thinking, and stopped short of saying that Artest shares his feelings.
"Ron, in his heart, loves Indianapolis," said Stevens, who hadn't talked to Artest prior to his client going public with his wish to be traded. "He has stated that he wants out. However, with frustration, sometimes things are said that are not the gut intention but are expressed in a manner that can be viewed as a gut intention."
Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh says nothing has changed as far as the team is concerned, and he will continue to seek a trade.

Now that's a good agent.

I hope he somehow finds his way to the Warriors. At the very least, we'll get some attention...
Sat Dec 17, 2005 1:39 am
I've been following this on ESPN and so far no trade yet
I have no idea who he can be traded to and for
What do the Pacers actually need, I dont think they need much else
Sat Dec 17, 2005 3:40 am
i read on RealGM that he'll be gone by the weekend. This is killing me, i wanna know now.
Sat Dec 17, 2005 3:57 am
Yao Ming for Ron Artest. He was an all-star.
