But you're doing the same thing. I dont think Tim Hardaway is hate filled. I hate Wiggers. I hate emo's. I hate people that pick their nose. I hate girls that act like sluts like its a badge of honour. I hate terrorists.
Tim Hardaway hating gays is exactly the same as me not like the aforementioned groups of people.
If you can't judge people on their actions what the hell are you supposed to judge them on?
That was my point entirely, its the same to judge Tim Hardaway for not liking gays as it is for him to judge them.
I know you're playing devil's advocate here, but come on. Its one thing to hate a group of people because of their sexual orientation, and its another to hate someone because of their ignorant comments that are bigoted and exclusive.
I don't think it is. Whats the difference exactly? Becuase he's an athlete? Becuase he's black? Becuase he's honest? Where is the difference exactly. Both examples are judgmental.

The simple thing is, his hatred is unprovoked. He speaks with a deep rooted passion. Just by his own speech "If I had a gay teammate...", you can tell that he never knowingly at least, had a gay teammate, yet he still talks as if someone had committed a horrible crime against him.
The reason people raise a fuss about gay bashers is the same reaon people are up in arms over racial injustice. A lot of people feel that homosexuality is either subconscious, or genetic. I'd bet you that every person here who was outraged over Tim's comments believes that is the case. In that regard, there's no just basis for hatred, just as with skin color. It's something that cannot be helped, where as sleaziness or terrorism can be (although I'm sure you could argue to a lamppost that it isnt).

This is the reason gays get no respect by alot of people, it's like they want to be treated differently from the rest of society. They want to be free of being mocked and descrimination. The fact is, no group in society is immune to being free of such injustices.
Now I'm not condoning what Timmy said. What he said didn't need to be said. But he is entitled to say it. If you judge Tim Hardaway for saying what he said, you are no better then the man you criticise.
And before you say "its different", remember its not. All he said was was words. He didnt say he partakes in gay bashings. He didnt say he spits on gays. He didnt incite violence, he just said he hates them.
He's allowed to, the same way you're allowed to not agree or be ashamed of him.

It is important, that in a discussion such as this, maturity prevails.
If we're going to judge anybody, let's judge them on their basketball ability. John Amaechi was not a perfect basketball player, but gosh darn it, the man could run the back-door play. And let's face it, he wasn't the best defensive player around, it's obvious that often there was penetration down his lane resulting in cramming. Faults aside, have you ever seen a big guy grab as many loose balls as John? I think not. He almost single-handedly brought showerfun back to Utah!
I'm going to buy a tim hardaway jersey on ebay right now. I've never been more proud to own nba live 98 in my life.
I've been away for a long time, but that has to be one of the funniest things I've read on this forum

you are right, no group is immune, but you act like only the gay community complain about being mocked. the fact is every community has a group or whatever that constantly complains about everything they see as bad or againt them. dont think only gays want to be free of descrimination.
