as much as i like Eddie House......
WE NEED A BIGMAN GODDAMNIT
what do u guys think of the signing ?
i think he may provide some scoring fromthe bench, but Williams may not get that much playing time now since House is a PG/SG
but yeh.. all in all i'm not too sure whether it was a good move or not

I'm pretty sure Williams will still get playing time, because Eddie House is a score-first guy and will probably fit better at SG so Williams will get playing time.
NJ's not getting a big man other than Josh Boone and Jason Collins for a while, there's just nobody much we can give away without breaking up our big four or losing a large portion of our bench.
Fri Aug 18, 2006 1:09 am
big four? whos the fourth guy?
Fri Aug 18, 2006 1:29 am
Krstic...
I know, you wouldn't think so by looking at him, he's a stud.
Fri Aug 18, 2006 4:17 am
The Nets are sure-fire to make the playoffs, but if one of Kidd, Jefferson, or Carter gets injured, New Jersey is in trouble. They have a very thin bench and a weak frontcourt (with Kristic as the exception)
Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:00 am
New Jersey making the playoffs is never a doubt when they're healthy, the question is whether they can gather the frontcourt talent needed to go beyond the second round.
NJ's a lock for 3rd or 4th seed next year in the playoffs, since Pistons and Heat will definitely be better and Cleveland did just about equally well last year in the regular season.
Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:54 am
You're forgetting about Chicago. They're overhyped at times but with the off-season moves they've made they're sure to be behind Detriot and Miami.
Fri Aug 18, 2006 8:04 am
True, but Chicago's in the Central Division. So, assuming the Pistons take the top again in the divison, the Bulls and Cavs will fight for the spot given to the team with the highest record that didn't win their division. It's impossible for the Cavaliers, Pistons, and Bulls to all make the top 4.

lol.... that's true weird playoff format... still have headaches thinking about it.... it's still better than the last one

Carter's divorce could lead him out of Jersey!
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... ew_jersey/
i dont think its that serious at the moment but...
Im pretty gutted but hey its a pretty emotional issue, although its not like he cant afford the flights to orlando from jersey. I would really hate to see him go, and if he does it better be via sign and trade, i want something back
your thoughts?
*edit - its not a personal response so it may just be a journalist's theory
Fri Aug 25, 2006 9:02 pm
he could ask for a clause in the contract... but he would be emotionally and physically tired.... personally, id like to see this trade done with darko, jj redick and a newly signed grant hill involved... if darko shows the improvement and skills he did at the end of the season, this could be a great trade for both theams
Sat Aug 26, 2006 1:34 am
Carter is the Nets' main scorer and all-around best player. We don't know how JJ's going to turn out and although Darko is the defensive presence we need, I'm not sure giving up Carter is worth it.
Vince Carter's always had strong ties to Florida, being from that state, but he's never been tempted to play any closer to that area.

that trade sounds okay, if he has to go atleast we'll get something. As i see the trade there are negatives at every point
1) Grant is over the hill (excuse the pun)
2) Darko is not proven although it would be very cool having him and krstic in the starting lineup.
3) JJ is not proven either although he is platform to build off.
positives
1) Richard Jefferson can develop into the all star we all know he is. ATM carter recieves about 60% of the ball on offense, rj about 25% and under. yet rj still manages to get around 15-20ppg. so theoretically he should be atleast a 24+ scorer without Carter.
2) This gives a chance for Antoine Wright to prove himself at the 2 position, and with kidd at the point it should make his start to his career alot easier

I'd welcome having Jay Williams in NJ, he'd provide a spark off the bench. It's his home state too (went to school near where I live) so he'd be willing to play here.
We'll see what happens at training camp and whether he gets playing time. The only possible negative here is that he'd slow down the development of Antoine Wright, but the team has a lot to gain by having him on the roster.

If Carter leaves NJ, that will suck badly for them!! They'd be another 8th 7th seed team. . He;s bailed them out so many times
Tue Aug 29, 2006 3:00 pm
they need to get a clear view on what carter wants to do and if he wants to leave, the nets have to move quietly and not let the whole league no about it and trade him by the all-star break for at least darko, 1st and battie.... if carter is really serious about moving to orlando... or maybe to miami for dorell wright(huge potential), udonis haslem and james posey... lol id love that for miami.... it would make them the favs for the championship immediately
Wed Aug 30, 2006 4:27 am
Dorell Wright, Udonis Haslem, and James Posey.
What the hell?
Carter is one of the Big Three. NJ's not giving up part of the big 3. He's expected to sign an extension and stay in NJ for a long time.

that was before his wife messed everything up, i really think he'll go. whether its before the season, during the season or in free agency is the question. I know everyones saying "he wants to win the championship...NJ has the best chance...he will stay...he owes one to kidd for ressurecting his career" but when a child is involved it can tend to sway in the other direction

Seen it through TVU. I was questioning what he was doing before he took the shot. He seemed to slow up whilst still in the back court. None the less, an amazing shot.
