I concur. I wonder if Milwaukee would be willing to trade Magloire for a package involving Tinsley.

I think everyone minus FJ fans can agree that he is one of the worst dunk contest winners.

At least the Pacers got Josh Powell and Rawle Marshall, two young guys whose best days are ahead of them.

It's not a bad trade as you may think. . both Veterans, and Armstrong is a better shooter IMO!!

Didn't Anthony Johnson drop 40 in the play-offs?

How can you try to justify this trade basketball wise. Its not a basketball move, its a business move. It just makes the Harrington trade easier to do salary wise. Armstrong probably won't be here at the start of the season anyways.

I actually think this trade could be justified basketball wise. You're right, Armstrong probably won't stay here by november but the acquisition of Powell and Marshall is part of Pacers' plan to get more athletic.
/wishful thinking mode on/: Next mission: Get rid of Jackson along with Pollard/Foster/Armstrong and get Magloire in here. (Y)

EDIT: after reading this i'm obviously mistaken: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?id=2528093

LOL. . I doubt that. Armstrong is gonna stay. Pacers need some veterans

And you can justify this basketball wise. Anthony Johnson was more of a half court PG, Where Armstrong can play both speeds. and is a better shooter.

Armstrong would be a third point guard on a bad team right now. If he's not immediately waived (like the other two guys), then he'll just sit on the bench for them or on the IR.

Harrington might be a very nice addition, but the point guard situation in Indiana is worse than its ever been. When, not if, Tinsley gets injured, or plays the way he did last year, they have absolutely no one to turn to. They didn't draft a point guard with this move in mind, and they haven't gone out and signed one, and they still have no cap room left and few tradeable assets that would bring one in. Anyone they sign now will be for the veterans minimum, so the selection is a little slim.

Oh well, maybe no they'll deal O'Neal to the Celts for one of their young point guards. Maybe Harrington is just his replacement.

I strongly doubt they'll trade JO. I don't think their PG situation is that terrible. Altough i'm very sceptic about Tinsley being healthy more than 60 games, i believe Saras and Marquis (or even Armstrong if he stays) are capable of leading this team. Pacers next goal shoud be to get a center (hopefully someone a la Magloire), not PG..but first bring Al back here  (Y)

Johnson was the only reliable player for the pacers last year. He's proven that he can play at the PG spot full time, and now he's gonna be playing behind Terry and Harris. I highly doubt that Tinsley will have a healthy season next season. He's just not reliable.

Sure Daniels can play PG, but i wouldn't count on him. He's a SG. Saras is a good PG, but he didn't fit into the team well last season, so next season is still a question. Armstrong is like 38 years old, he's just a locker room leader.

Well according to most reports, Saras is probably the next one to go. And he may be a decent bench/role player, but he's not a starting point guard. And as for Daniels, he's an undersized scoring guard. He might be able to defend the point better than anyone the Pacers have, but I don't think he would be good at running an offense. And as said before, Armostrong is at the tail end of his career, and he's just a locker room guy.

Sorry I'm getting him confused with someone else. I thought he was like 6'3 or 6'4.
My mistake.

Who? Armstrong?

No he can't. If he was their starting point guard they would rival the Bobcats and Blazers in the standings.

Maceo Baston to the Pacers? Any Maccabi people know anything about him? I'm hearing he's coming for 3 million dollars for 2 years.

Really? Sure, what Kenyon Martin was to Kidd, Baston was to Saras in Maccabi. These two had quite a few highligths 8-) (Y) He's very athletic, Jonathan Bender/more athletic David West type of player. He could be a bit undersized in NBA - I'd say he is about 6-8/6-9 tall.. In Europe he could just jump over everyone and dunk. But he needs someone to feed him. He can hit an outside shot, but NBA three is probably too far away for him. Anyway, i don't see how he could get much playing time behind JO, Granger or Shawne.

Not a Maccabi guy but an Israeli guy...
Maceo is a 6-9, 210-220, very quick and agile power forward, scores mostly from put backs, dunks and by leaving him open under the rim though he can shoot the occasional three. Improved vastly in the offensive end during his 3 years in Israel.

BTW Sharas if he will got the opportunity may end up as a very good PG.

Maceo Baston played for the Raptors one season... He was very raw, but I liked watching his athleticism and his hustle. I guess playing overseas might have re-shaped his game.
