The maverics take game one very convincingly. Shaq and antoine walker have to bring it next game or this will be a short finals.

You've got to be kidding me. If it weren't for Jason "Douche Bag" Terry and Miami's poor free-throw shooting Dallas would've been on the losing end tonight.

The will be an extended series, period. The x-factor tonight: missed free-throws. Not only did Shaquille miss all but one shot, but Wade missed four or more from the line as well. Oh yeah, nobody else from Miami even attempted a free-throw. Look for Miami to attack the basket more in game two and draw fouls.

Another thing I'd like to point out is Jason Terry. He will not have another game like this - Pat Riley won't allow it.

wow Nowitzki only 16 pts and Dallas still won (Y)

I'm not sure of the name of the actual song but I do know it's from one of the Matrix movie soundtracks.

That is called "a basketball game". When Cleveland lost to Detroit the game 7, I could have said that "if it wasn't for the Detroit defense, we would have won". But I didn't, all things you pointed are things the coach has to be prepaired for and make correct decitions to change the result. After the first quarter, whitch was terrible for Dallas, A. Johnson made the right decitions, whitch got the game winner. No wonder he's the COY.

I don't know what instrumental was playing during the Heat's lineup, but Dallas' was The Who's "Eminence Front."

yeah, as if it's that simple.

Dallas played real well, got nice shots, played good defense after the 1st too.

what the fuck is your problem? Take a loss like a man, and stop whining.
If Jason Terry was on the Heat he would be their third best player.

Fri Jun 09, 2006 5:50 pm

Fuck yeah, Mavs 1-0 :headbang:

Everyone at my school are douchebag bandwagoners and are like "I want Heat to win" and I told them all that the Mavs won the first game and they were like noo!!!!

Hells yeah.

*bandwagon mode*

I enjoyed the game because im not rooting for either team, i think it makes it more enjoyable to watch. Then you dont sit there yelling at the refs for calls against your team, and overlooking the same thing happening to the other team. It was a very nice game, i hope the rest are close like this, no blowouts please!

Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:13 pm

man I was rooting for the Heat and they had a really good game from 'toine (minus the TOs) but they could've had it had they stopped JT... they did a really good job defensively on Dirk, making him step back and take those fading shots from 16-18 ft that barely go in.

Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:30 pm

By the way, happy birthday for Haslem. This was a present from Terry and Dallas. Be sure to celebrate!

Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:36 pm

This game added to a noteworthy statistic for Miami. The Heat are now 0-6 in this postseason when trailing at the half while they're 12-0 in games where they're ahead after the first 24 minutes. Such a lack of resilience is a matter of concern but so long as they carry a lead into the half they would appear to be in good shape, since they seem to be better at defending a lead than playing catchup, even with a small deficit, so far these Playoffs.

Fine start to the Finals, impressive win by Dallas thanks in no small part to Terry's second quarter explosion. Miami's free throw troubles hurt them but take nothing away from the Mavericks, they got the job done.

Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:44 pm

Wow. I didn't expect such a performance by Terry. I mean, he made me completely forget about the weak performances by Dirk and Howard. I also think that he missed that layup on purpose... No, really. What was that all about? Looked like he couldn't decide whether to dunk or lay it in. :?

Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:54 pm

It did look like he mistimed his leap and thus had to lay it in when he originally intended to dunk, forcing him to come up short into the side of the rim.

Fri Jun 09, 2006 8:43 pm

Wow the Mavs won.
I actually thought they were going to loose the first game.

I'm not complaining though :)

Fri Jun 09, 2006 8:58 pm

The Arizona guy came up big for the Mavs. Game seemed interesting too, too bad I didnt watch it. Maybe the next one.

5 turnovers for Wade. Just felt like pointing that out. He really needs to start cutting down on those if the Heat wannt to win. I would also be slightly worried if I lost by 10 with Dirl only scoring 16 since most people said he would have to score 35 a night to keep the Mavs in the game. Oh well.

Fri Jun 09, 2006 9:51 pm

Fuck it the Heat lost  .
They really shoot badly on free throws.I really didn't see much of the game, because I sleept have of the game...But anyway I congrats the Mavs and I hope the Heat will do better in game 2.

I refuse to give a grown man who hit Michael Finley in the groin (on purpose) credit or respect. I'm not whining, just a an anti-Cuban going to work.

I haven't visisted this thread until now. I have two things to say. First, Dallas will win. Second, according to Jack Black;

Jack Black in SI wrote:The only way they (Miami) can be beaten is if Phoenix and Dallas joined forces and created a superteam. And it was called Phallas.

Ya i read that interview too, it was nice.

As far as Jason Terry goes, it was a fantastic game for him, and speaking of Arizona players, is there a list somewhere of all the Arizona players in the NBA? I cant think of another college as close to them with NBA players. (Jefferson, Bibby, Terry, Frye, Salim Stoudamire, Walton, on and on)

And as far as the Miami Intro song goes, SOMEBODY find out what it was!!

Sat Jun 10, 2006 1:54 pm

Arizona players are built tough, they are always a safe bet in the draft.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:24 pm

The Heat's free throw percentage is always distorted by Shaq, but it's still a major weakness.

They really can't overcome it though, except by keeping him out of the game in the end when it's close.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:37 pm

Past players There was a list in nba.com some time ago but I can't find it.

Iggy's from Arizona too, right?

Sat Jun 10, 2006 3:56 pm

well obviously pats gonna do something bout containin jason terry.
the Heat need to do the same stuff in Game 1 and contain Nowitzki.
i dont think antoine walker will have another game like he did in Game 1 wit 19 pts?i think
get the ball to shaq early period. he alone drew 2 fouls on diop and 1 on dampier in the 1st quarter pretty early. dwade might be stunned a bit from the leg injury in Game 1 but he escaped better than stackhouse :D .
i wonder how he got his bloody nose.....hehehe
