If you say yes to that, but no to Nash; somethings wrong.
Consider this: Kidd and Nash both drastically improved their teams, which should be enough to deserve Most Valuable Player. Whether Nash is replaceable or not doesn't matter, he was very much a crucial part of his team. As the award implies the MOST crucial. Kidd was the same, but unlke Kidd, Nash's team is Number 1, which has a big role in MVP. Also Kidd had to compete with duncan who had his team at number 1 and also did it basically alone. Shaq on the other hand had Wade; who had a terrific rookie year and this was expected of him already whether Shaq was there or not.
Okay the flip side:
Yes NAsh MVP...it's funny he got it playing beside someone who averaged 26ppg and 9 rpg, Amare. Also how did he get it? He didn't improve anyone- Marion was already good, Amare was only bound to get better do this whether Nash was there or not. Q is excellent, Joe Johnson (look at Amare and Wade comment). Seriously! If anyone improved anyone it was Shaq! SHaq made players you never heard of decent players that you would consider to take on your team. Also if you want to talk about how Nash improved his team look at how Shaq leaving destroyed his last team. As much as I am a Kobe fan; really look at what Shaq did by leaving.

okay just wanted to put that up there to see the response, the reasonKidd did not get it like Nash is because back then Tim Duncan was a monster and NAsh's team was 1 and Duncan's 1. Shaq wasn't, this year. He was good but Timd Duncan just carried a team on his shoulders.
I'm not hating, no is, just disagring, u want to see hating?
Kobe Bryant is the best player in the L, he just had a rough season this year, watch the response that's hating :D But I understand u use the word "hatin" lightly and others take it more serious, no worries. But serious Kobe is the best!
About Nash I think he did deserve it, but Shaq was also a big contender. I guess arguing that Nash didn't deserve it cause of Amare is not good because remember Shaq had Wade (killer, nother Kobe?) See? Then Marion, Eddie Jones, I know Marion is much better, but still... The team's were not THAT much different like people claim. Phoenix had a better team yes, but they also had a better record, so Nash made up the difference atleast.
how do i make a fancy signature?

I don't know about that, Joe Johnson is better than Eddie Jones who is the Heat's third best player, and he's the Suns 4th best player. Q-Rich is arguably better or as good as Eddie Jones, and he's the Suns 5th best player. The Suns were a much better team, but they did win a few more games too, and against tougher opponents.

Is anyone gonna keep saying Steve dont deserve it???

27.3ppg 12.0apg 4.3rpg 1.25spg .556FG% .929FT% in the Mavs series

21.1ppg 11.6apg 3.9rpg .512FG% so far in the playoffs.

and this is not including the 34pnt 13rebs 12asts triple-double effort leading them to the game 5 win.

They say players show how good they really are in the playoffs, especially MVP's..............wow! :D

But they'll all say those stats don't count since Shaq has been injured in the playoffs.

When he first got it I had my doubts over whether or not he or Shaq was truly the most deserving. But after seeing Wade lead the Heat to two sweeps pretty much without Shaq, I definitely think Steve has 100% the MVP.

I'll give him the Finals MVP if the Suns win it. But he wasn't playing like this during the regular season...

Congrats to S Nash for getting his first triple double in the playoff as I read in an article. He has stepped up his game ever since Joe Johnson got injured.

Man, Nash was amazing last night. Not a tiny triple double, but a huge triple double as Boyk mentioned: 34 pts, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists. Congrats to the MVP :D

He didn't have to play like this during the regular season...the handful of games the Suns lost were when he was out and and the 1 game after his return.

MJ also turned it on for the playoffs.

I cant wait for game 6!
we gettin it televised saturday morning here!!! WOOO!
heh
should be a screamer.

I also found out something, Steve Nash is just the third player to record a triple-double in the playoffs, after scoring 40+ in the previous game.

The other 2: Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan

..................Not bad company :P

Well, the regular season MVP is based on regular season performance and as far as I'm concerned, the Conference Semi-Finals aren't part of the regular season. Anyway, I've already outlined why I think Nash wasn't the best choice for MVP, though I'm not about to say he didn't deserve it either.

Everybody's entitled to their opinions, but either way, the MVP would be great with either Shaq or Nash, imo. Despite the opinions in favor of Shaq being MVP, Nash has proved that he's worthy of such an honor by playing sensational playoff basketball.

He has been playing great in the playoffs and especially in the Mavs series, no doubt about that.

Sensational performance in game 6 by Steve Nash. A rebound shy to his second consecutive 30+ point triple double. He was amazing, tying the game for overtime, and just hitting jumpers and making sweet passes. Awesome performance in the entire Dallas series, and he's really living up to his expectations as MVP.

He bounced back well after a slow start. It's a shame I missed most of overtime and the last two minutes of the fourth thanks to ESPN Pacific Rim's bizarre decision to interrupt a live broadcast with unscheduled programming.

39pnts 12asts 9rebs 14-24 shooting, and the OT forcing three pointer.

enough said.

If you're the best player in the league, you have to win some championships...
In my opinion,Shaq and TD are the two best players in the league...they are solid fundamentally and dominant all-time...

KG was MVP last year and he did not win a championship.
Karl Malone was MVP and never won a championship..
Basketball is a team game, being the best individual talent is something completely different.
Nash was the most valuable player to his team this season. Leading the Suns to the best record also help solidify his MVP worthiness. He has also done well in the playoffs too.

In the meantime, his team are getting hammered and for all of Nash's "MVP worthiness" he has no answers.

Amphatoast. You're right. So KG and Karl are great players, but when we talk about 90s,Michael Jordan is always the first, then Karl,Charles,Reggie,Patrick...they're also greatest players, they were MVPs,but they never won a championship...
So the same...when talking about the best PF now,I think TD will be No.1,then KG...Both of them are MVPs,but TD has more rings...I hope KG will win a championship in the future,or he'll be the next Karl Malone...

Interesting question !

Would Nash be considered a MVP candidate next season if he ends up having the same stats he finished this year with?

Maybe not

But I might be wrong.

One of the main reason why he was selected as the MVP is because how he turned the Suns franchise around. Well they are a good team now and finished with the best regular season. How is he gonna top it off?
