Rumor: Nuggets - Kings trade

Postby ShowMeTheMoney on Mon Jun 23, 2003 3:49 pm

( Got it off the Pinoyexchange Sports Forums. )

Supposedly from ESPN's PTI show:

Nuggets pick third - and if things go as expected will select Anthony. Then Anthony and Camby get traded to Sacramento for Bobby Jackson and Peja Stojakovic.

Any other info on this?

Seems very unlikely to me.

I dunno where this rumour came from... Strange... I don't see it happening... Who would play backup PG for Sacramento? Wouldn't it be better for Denver to pick up one young, very promising player than two good, but kinda... old players?

This deal is okay.

They can start Nene. They have a good PG (finally) plus Stojokavich is All-star material.

But something must be added for denver to benefit. it's too lop-sided at the moment.

I dunno why the Kings, who have had so many injury problems last season would want Camby. They already have Divac, Pollard, Clark. I also doubt they would give up Stojakovic who is already established and Jackson also, for an unproven rookie (although he did win in college) and a guy who has barely played the last couple of seasons.

like i told tales on MSn...this trade is silly....i'd prefer the already solid (if not excelent) players Bobby and Peja over a posibility of a god player in carmelo...and the Kings already have enough bench Centers (Pollard, clarck...) so they don't need Camby....

This trade makes sense to me from a Sacramento perspective. First, Clark is a FA and his fate has not yet been decided...second, who wouldn't love to have Carmelo Anthony on their team? He is going to develop into a quality player in the NBA.

However, from a Nuggets perspective, this trade is absolutely ludicrous. Peja is an excellent shooter and not much more and Jackson is a good point as well. But a lot of what these two players do is a result of the offense that the Kings run and how many go-to guys they actually have. On the Nuggets, these two would be put upon constantly night in and night out. BTW, didn't Bobby Jackson play for the Nuggets earlier in his career??

stop spamming you bloody idiot...you're getting on my last nerve!

now to adress thesport

second, who wouldn't love to have Carmelo Anthony on their team? He is going to develop into a quality player in the NBA.

You don't know that for a fact...

Peja is an excellent shooter and not much more

Peja is arguably the best shooter in the league...plus he's smart, he can learn plays well, and he doesn't have any major weakness....

Jackson is a good point as well.

exactly...a good PG, a great team leader, and an excelent end of game player....plus he's proven to develop (getting better every year)...he's a guaranteed talent...

On the Nuggets, these two would be put upon constantly night in and night out.

which is called "starting"...and that's what both players want...

 Are we talking about the same Peja and Bobby Jackson that have kept the Kings alive whenever Bibby or mainly Webber were out, in the last two years?...
Are we talking about a proven all-star, and a likely one, given playing time, that scored more than 20ppg whenever they had an offense focusing on them???

I can sort of see why this might not work for the Nuggets... Peja is more of a catch and shoot kind of guy, not a great creator (atleast from the games I saw of the world championships) and Bobby Jackson who would be the starting point guard, is a shoot first pass second PG. I don't think Howard is going to draw too many double teams down low so where are Peja's shots going to come from?
From the Kings perspective, these two guys fit in perfectly. You have a great passer for a big man in Divac, and Webber (although injured a lot) is a good passer too, and draws plenty of attention. Peja can get his shots, and Jackson can come in off the bench and score as part of the second unit...

psycho jackal is right, "jason kidd", you shall have a more mature behavior, a post with only "lol" is pointless if we were all starting posting "lol" the forum will become unreadable

that's the same for you signature, the pic is too big and it looks like you put a second one which i didn't see surely because of an error in your link.

don't take it wrong, you can't know all the rules here immediatly, but you have to apply them quite quickly.

First of all, Do I see that guy's stuff correctly?

Calls himslef Jason Kidd and has two pictures of Tim Duncan?

This is like calling yourself "Larry Bird" and having a picture of Magic Johsnon.

I would trade Peja and Bobby Jackson for Carmelo Anthony alone.

Detroit will regret not drafting the Tracy McGrady like Anthony.

I compare him to either McGrady or Pierce.

I believe the Los Angeles Clippers GM Elgin Baylor is the worst leader in the history of professional basketball and that goes back to 1959.

The Celtics beat his Lakers in 1959, 1962, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969 in the finals, the man never won a ring as a player, though in 1972 they might have gave him a ring for playing in the first 12 games of the year, then retiring before they won a championship some 80 games later. As a matter of fact, the Lakers set the all-time record for consecutive victories with 33, the record started the next game after Baylor retired.
Drafting Chris Kamen is just exactly the worst idea possible, maybe they should have looked at T.J. Ford, Kirk Hinrich, Mickeal Pietrus or Michael Sweetney. Even if they resign Andre Miller, having a point guard or two didn't stop Milwaukee from grabbing the Stephon Marbury like Ford.

I was doubted by someone in this forum for saying Dwayne Wade was like Gary Payton or the like, a solid all-around point guard with scoring talents.

Well it's exactly what Pat Riley thinks of him, he even said that he will be playing Wade at the point and Jones at the two.

This person said Dwayne was nothing more than Voshon Lenard.

With the 5th overall pick the Miami Heat select....

Wade isn't a pure PG, Payton is.
Would you compare Steve Francis to John Stockton just because they both play PG? I guess so.

BTW the person (I forget who) said he was like a better Voshon Lenard, if my memory serves. They are around the same height, pretty good shooters and can drive, in Lenard's case can drive alright, in Wade's case an excellent driver.
