3-PT Shootout.

Postby Martti. on Thu Feb 07, 2008 6:01 am

Participants :

Kobe Bryant.
Daniel Gibson.
Richard Hamilton.
Jason Kapono.
Steve Nash.
Peja Stojakovic.

Hamilton and Bryant are surprises. Cause Hamilton is not the 3PT shooter for the Pistons. He's moreof a coming-off-the-screen guy.

Hope Kapono or Gibson wins.

JJ needs to do it sometime in his career.

I got my money on Peja this year.
Opinions are my own.

yeah I'd say Peja has a good chance to win. After watching most of the Hornets games this year, he gets really streaky during games but I would imagine with no one guarding him he could channel his inner 2003 and dominate the competition.

I'd say Kapono. He shot 300 and made 270 3-pointers once.

Gibson will take it like he's taking the throne as the best 3 point shooter in the season. Atleast lebron already has his steve kerr covered...

Kapono or Nash. The two guys with Canadian ties. One plays for Raps, one is from BC.

How in the world is Rip Hamiliton in here? I mean he's a good shooter, but I mean i wouldn't exactly call him a 3-point shooter.. He's more of a mid range game, unless he changed dramatically this season...

Anyways, my money is on Kobe...

I wouldn't exactly put JRich in there, but they definitely want more star power in all-star Saturday night. no one will tune in to watch 6 no-name three point specialists shoot it out like Miller, Korver, Travis Diener, Luther Head, etc.

looking at the numbers it would go something like this:
Kapono
A Parker
James Jones
Gibson
Nash
Peja

Hamilton has gone from lacking a 3pt shot to one of the league's best long range shooters since Detroit's 2004 title. I might be wrong, but wasn't he the top 3pt shooter in 2006? Either way, a well-deserved selection.

Kobe is an odd choice (now he will have participated in all 6 All-Star Weekend Events), something you would only see in NBA Live, and I doubt he will do too well. I like the other 5 selections, but I wish either Dirk or Korver has Kobe's spot.

My money is on Kapwno, but I hope Nash wins. And Kapono actually made 270 pts/300 3pt attempts, so he only went 90-for-300, a 30% clip.

Where's Korver? seriously? Rip Hamilton over Korver? You've got to be kidding me.

That aside, Kapono will win. He's one of the greatest players in the NBA.

This 3 point shootout is actually quite exciting with those guys.

I'm rooting for Kapono of course.

Anyone remember when Jordan was in the 3 pt. contest? Hopefully Kobe gets a better score than he did. Ooh. Hard to watch.

Because he only took 120 attempts...126th in the league. One and a half a game.

By comparison that year, Raja Bell only shot 44% but took 445 (7th), and Ray Allen shot 41% but took 653 to lead the league.
