Number 23 gets his Pippen?

Postby BIG GREEN on Fri Nov 03, 2006 12:14 am

It was a awsome nail biter against the wizards and not one thread or comment about larry hughes, lebron james and the rest of the cavs season opener? What does everyone have against them?

In either case....larry hughes breaks out last night by scoring 27 points backed by bron's double double of 26 points and 10 rebounds and 2 solid blocked shots. Has king james finally found his pippen? It might just be so; i'm looking for the cavs to make the eastern conference finals for damn sure if he keeps this up.

they're very nice numbers he got there. also, who was guarding arenas? keeping him to 7 points is a job well done.

Larry hughes was one of my favourite players, when he left washington i was really pissed off. not at him but at the fact that he had the perfect system there for him, and his style of defense, the gambling d and the hands up d is how i played my d. for that reason i loved his game, and i followed him from his philly to golden state days. he had this one steal one time against j rose inbounding and then he flushed it, then played tight ass d on the inbounder right after the jam (in philly)

Damn straight Yohance the Cavs really did an awesome job in the end.
And the fact that they stopped Arenas is rewarding . I was sorta of expecting a breakout from Hughes it was his time.Lebron played awesome and I'm happy with the result.Overall I'm a Heat fan,Cleveland is still number two for me .

Yeah I like Hughes a lot too, but I think he's just a above average player, I'd love to see him with James doing stuff like MJ and Scottie were doing, but I really doubt about it this time.

Lebron said before the game that he was really impressed by Larry and that people would be surprised by him. I can definately say I was, he looked alot more in control, took smart shots and was a joy to watch. Although noone seemed to be able to score in the 4th quarter when the Cavs got stuck at 79 points and the Wiz came back. Arenas played pretty bad, had three fouls in the second and never really got into a grove.

I would have to say no because I don't think Hughes will get hot like that consistently. He can really fill it up when he's hot but when he's not, it's a clank fest. I think the cavs need a great shooter rather than a great scorer like Hughes.

in a general sense, i guess you can say Hughes is Lebron's "Pippen". however Hughes offensive game doesn't really compliment James. Hughes gets his #'s by dominating the ball. but it was encouraging to see Hughes hitting those outside shots but i'd like to see him do that on a consistent basis

Kinda early to be comparing him to Pippen, he might have just had a stand out game.

heh how can people not be thrown off when you bring up Pippen? imo sounds like the thread is suggesting that lebron has possibly gotten a legit 2nd scorer

I'm not comparing him to pippen...he's nothing close to that guy. All im suggesting is that he's complimenting lebron the way pippen complimented some other number 23

If Larry Hughes can stay healthy, play 70 games plus, then he's definitely their second scoring option and can help relieve LeBron's pressure. The key is to stay healthy.

Yet again Hughes steps up and helps LeBron. What a heartwarming sight for Cavaliers fans, it almost makes me want to cry.

All you guys who are saying Larry Hughes is an "above-average" player don't know what you're talking about. This is a guy who averaged 22, 6 and 5 back in Washington and is known as a solid defender. If Hughes was healthy all of last year, the Cavs could have been in the Eastern Conference Finals. So far he's averaging 22, 6 and 3.5 this season. Seems like the perfect guy to be Lebron's sidekick.

lol... but the problem is he wasn't and i don't care whether hughes averages a 22/6/5.... u got to stay on the court to actually help your team.... your 22/6/5 don't do a lot of good on the bench.... and where is all this bullshit about being a great defender coming from? gambling for steals doesn't make you an outstanding defender lol.... you watch when he gets to defend the guards that are stronger and bigger than him and you'll see that he is a overrated defender....

Looks like Drew stepped up today as LBJ and LH played pretty poorly. For Cavs fans sake I hope its just fatigue after a few consecutive games.

How do they beat San Antonio in San Antonio, then lose to an average team at best? Pippen and Jordan I dont think so.
