A. Macijauskas talks about NO team and B. Scott

Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:15 am

A. Macijauskas, one of the best shooters in the world, the "Kalashnikov", in an interview with a Lithuanian newspaper talked about his terrible season and his team and his coach.

"I hate when he (B. Scott) doesn't have a reason why I don't play to tell to the press, so he thinks of redicolous explanations. I mean, my English maybe not perfect, but I ain't such an idiot, so I can understand what do I havo to do in a play".-about B. Scott saying that Macas English is not good enough, and that being the reason of him sitting on the bench.

This is strange to me also, cause even B. Scott admits that Macijauskas is much better than some starters in the NBA, but still doesn't let him play because of the soap called "three guard rotation". And if Macas doesn't understand the plays, maybe the coach should explain them?

"The worst thing for me to see was, when, at the beggining of the season our guards were playing terribly, there was almost no defense, but I didn't even get a chance."

"I don't want to say too much about the team and B. Scott while I'm in this club, but believe me, I could tell you such things that would shock you".

These are oly a few, by the way, I had to translate it to English, so it might be not "word to word" correct.

I hate it when coaches don't put in extra effort or accomodations for players who have trouble with English. Obviously there are translators, but they can only do so much. If Macijauskas was told by Scott that he's better than a lot of NBA starters, then he's being a dick for not giving him a chance to play.

I agree with Arvydas, he deserves a chance..IMO he is a top 3 shooter in the world..They (Hornets) really could take advantage of that..

He should stop whinging along with the other bench warming Europeans in the NBA.

Tue Mar 21, 2006 7:51 am

wow didnt think he'd be the kind of person to speak out against his coach like that. interesting

What exactly is that supposed to mean?

Anyway, if he doesn't like it, then he can go back to Europe.

Kirk Synder, Desmond Mason and J.R. Smith all deserve to play more than him anyway.

I also found it interesting that he complained that the guards lacked defence; as if an undersized shooting guard with average athleticsm like him would make a difference.

Don't worry.
I think if they aint happy, they should ask for a trade this off-season.
I think they deserve some minutes you know.

Macijauskas is awesome shooter and i dunno why Byron Scott keep him on the bench, but this is the NBA, remember our Toni Kukoc! He was all-star potential and played very well on those seasons with the Bulls but never played an All-Star game cuz nobody wanted him in all star in that time, even some poor players maded in all star game by some funny coach decision., i think Macijauskas need to change the team next season.

This is a little joke about the geografy knowlege of an average American. I guess Canadians don't have much of a sense of humour.

And about trading him to another team, he asked for a trade a long time ago, but there was no response from the staff, and the coach said that Macas is "an important part of their team". They were almost able to perform a trade that would have got him to the Spurs for B. Barry, but it was denied by the NO staff at the last minute. It just shows his real value, when B. Barry is offered for him.

We couldn't understand your culturally inclined "joke."

Who cares about this Macijauskas guy anyways, he doesn't have a future in the NBA, go back to Lithuania!

You mean Brent Barry for Macijauskas and J.R. Smith right? Because that was the offer.

Really? I thought Macas for Barry. Well then this deal wasn't good for New Orleans at all. Anyway, I think Macijauskas defenetly should leave the team, cause now a talent is being spoiled. :?

I hope that Macijauskas stays in new orleans and gets a chance wihich he deserves and shows everyone of what he is made of. In Euroleague he was a key player for TAU Ceramica and in my opinion was the best player of the 2004/2005 the best player besides Saras

EDIT: SPAM! (Fossil digging)

What's with some of these Europeans acting like their American counterparts? Trying to be an "NBA player" by being a whiny bitch won't help them. Just ask Sprewell, or Kwame (Wizards), or Marbury, or...

Macijauskas is a sore loser. Look at all of the players who had to sit on the bench before they got playing time. Look at Gerald Green. He got sent to the D-League about 4 times before he even played a minute in the NBA and he wasnt whining. Macijauskas needs to stop acting like a bitch and stop disrespecting his coach and team.

Gerald Green did complain, a bit.

Why the hell did you bump a three month old thread?

He's not one of the best shooters in the world until he proves it in the NBA....
