Rookie of the Year Canidates

Sun Jan 01, 2006 11:41 am

I know its early but as of right now, CP3 is looking GREAT, look:

16.3ppg (1st in Rookies PPG)
5.9rpg (3rd in Rookies RPG)
7.3apg (1st in Rookies APG)
2.32spg (1st in Rookies SPG)

And who does he have to work with? JR and DMase? Thats about it. Paul is taking the Hornets, who are in a tougher conferance from the East, into a possible Playoff Contender at 12-16. Is there really anyother Rookies in the ROTY Race?

Andrew Bogut. Hes good, but hes not ROTY material. Marvin Williams? No. Deron Williams, No. Whos even close? I guess Frye or maybe CV31? No one really. The rookies are good this year, but Paul is just blowing them away. Imagine how many assists per game he could get if he played on a team with a Dominent scorer? Heat w/ Shaq and Wade? About 9apg. Pistons or Cavs?

Anyways in a few years, CP3 is gonna be great. I think he'll outperform Nash, maybe in like 2-3 years, CP3 will get like 19-22ppg, and 8-11apg. Probally getting 4-6rpg aswell.

Right now Paul's running away with it

Other candidates:
Charlie Villaneuva
Andrew Bogut
Channing Frye
Nate Robinson
Sarunas Jasikevicius
Deron Williams

I'm hoping Bogut will be in the running by the end of the year but he'll need to score more for that to happen. His numbers are "solid" and all but he'd need to be scoring around 16 or so to be up there with Chris Paul and the other likely candidates.

I agree that Paul is the early frontrunner. I have to admit, I wasn't aware just how well he was doing until you posted his numbers. I haven't seen any Hornets games yet (there's one coming up soon) but I have caught a few highlights and was impressed.

Damn cp3 is sick. the man is so sick he got the flu. the hornets are still in the runnung to make the playoffs. wow.

This past draft was a pretty lame one (N)

Sun Jan 01, 2006 1:02 pm

5.9 rpg for a guy initially listed at 5' 11" ??? Now that's a feat :!: (Y)

Sun Jan 01, 2006 1:03 pm

No, you dont no shit. Bogut, CP3,Williams,Robinson, Jasikavicus ans tons more! It was a great draft!

Sun Jan 01, 2006 1:20 pm

1st - far and away Chris Paul

2nd - Bogut, playing well on a good team. The fact they're a good team makes him higher than...
3rd - Charlie Vilanueva, he's had some great games, but his team sucks. So he's lower than the others.

CP3 is amazing! I hope he wins it..

What he said and I think that Frye has been playing pretty impressive too.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:07 pm

LoL how can u say this draft was lame.....the Kwame Brown, and Yao Ming draft was LAME! The Emeka/Dwight was ok, the LeBron, Melo, and Wade was GREAT. And this one is almost as good. I loved it.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:22 pm

Come on guys, what about Antoine Wrights chances

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:29 pm

Does he even play?? I watched a few Nets games this year and I never seen Antoine hit the floor.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:32 pm

I think he's played 2 minutes all season.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:35 pm

Hes played 2 minutes and got 1-1 from the field

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:59 pm

That's 24 points per 48

Sun Jan 01, 2006 4:07 pm

And what about Louis Williams lol. Hes rated a 69 in 06 and played only like 7 games and scored like 6 points lol.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 5:45 pm

And who does he have to work with? JR and DMase?

Who? David West has been the second best player on that team by far. Him and Paul for the most part have led the Hornets to the wins they have.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 6:08 pm

David West for Most Improved!

Sun Jan 01, 2006 6:15 pm

luther head by any chance? i dunno just throwing out another name

perhaps not roty, but worth mentioning

Sun Jan 01, 2006 6:51 pm
