Can't you just make 1 thread with all the positions of the 90's ....

I gotta go with um... um.... Karl Malone.

Fri Oct 21, 2005 11:46 pm

1. Karl Malone
2. Charles Barkley
3. Shawn Kemp

Are you retarded or what? Yinka was a centre. Duuuuh.

Sat Oct 22, 2005 1:35 am

No, Yinka was an all-round player

Sat Oct 22, 2005 2:12 am

I think there's no need to make this thread, there were only 3 PF dominating the league in the 90's: Karl Malone, Charles Barkley and Dennis Rodman (only for the rebounds)...

PG, specifically. Having 4 assists in his whole career, you can tell.

Anyway, Karl Malone, nah mean. (Y)

Sat Oct 22, 2005 2:29 am

Maloney Baloney fo sho. He was arguable the greatest PF of all time, nah mean.

Yeah. I think we've been here before. But I guess Shawn Kemp was pretty dominating, too.

I guess the choice is very subjective and it would depend of what you want from your PF.
If it's production and durability, you have to go with Malone.
If it's defense, hustle and rebounding - Rodman, or maybe Horace Grant.
Peak value? I would go with 1996 Shawn Kemp.
Barkley was a defensive sieve, but would bust his ass on offense.

My choice:
1.Dennis Rodman
2.Karl Malone
3.Shawn Kemp
4.Barkley
6.Horace Grant
7.Larry Johnson
8.Dale Davis
9.Cliff Robinson
10.Vin Baker

(Laettner, Kukoc, Kevin Willis, Tom Gugliotta, young Webber, young KG, Otis thorpe, Detlef Shrempf deserve some props, too)

Sat Oct 22, 2005 2:57 am

Karl Malone

My picks are Rodman&1996 version of Kemp.

Why wold you guys say Rodman? Barkley and Malone were a lil bit worse rebounding and thts it. Both of em were better scorers, defender and team-mates. (yes that does matter)

Sat Oct 22, 2005 5:15 am

Yeah, and actually Rodman was good only at rebounding and if we can count it, at coloring his hair...
Shawn Kemp was good at dunking and blocking shots sometimes, but nothing else...
Malone and Barkley were just explosive in both sides of the court: defense and offense, and we should remember that Barkley was only 6 foot 6 tall. They were the two best PF's in the league in the 90's
Right now the only player that could be compared to Malone or Barkley is Tim Duncan... Today the PF's are just dunking all the time, and a PF is supposed to do a lot more than that.

Sat Oct 22, 2005 5:50 am

I'm surprised nobody said Tim Duncan until Da_King mentioned it. Timmy's gotta be in the top 5.

Sat Oct 22, 2005 5:57 am

Timmy came at the late ninties so I'm guessing they're really looking at fowards that have played throughout the ninties.

I'd go with Malone as well consistently a 20-10 throughout most of his career (excluding that minor Laker stint).

Kemp gets recognition but he's a player that really fell off later on in his career.

Karl Malone
Charles Barkley
Shrempf

I hope you're just being sarcastic. Rodman is one of the best floppers of all time (and that's a good thing), one of the best all-around defenders and one helluva rebounder. He was dominant on the defensive end like no one before him since the days of the great centres like Russel. And Kemp? God, if you think that dunking is all what he could do, you're living in a world of your own.

Sat Oct 22, 2005 7:28 am

Charles Barkley
Dennis Rodman
Karl Malone
Shawn Kemp
Larry Johnson
Derrick Coleman
Grant Hill
Cliff Robinson
Kevin Willis

Stan Kimbrough

Oh Lord...Rodman was good only in defense...he did nothing in offense excluding rebounds: probably he didn't score more than 7-8 ppg in career and he was a poor free throw shooter. Keep this in your mind: Rodman was good only at defense. Probably if he was concentrated more on basketball than in his hair, he could be better...

Ok, now Kemp: I didn't say he was a bad player... but....:
Only 14 ppg in career, low stamina, bad passer. He was a good rebounder tho: 8.4 rpg in career, a good blocker and a good stealer... and his free throw percentage wasn't bad. But too many turnovers per game and his field goal precentage is lower than 50% in career (I think that almost 45-50% of his field goals were dunks).

Now, to see who was a GREAT (I say "GREAT", not "pretty good") Power Forward, you just have to see who's included in the "Greatest 50 NBA Players in NBA History" List.
