WFAN(660 AM) just announced this. He's supposed to have a press conference today at 4pm.
Tue Oct 18, 2005 3:32 am
God fucking damnit, now I hate him even more.
We still could've had JYD, I'm pretty sure Williams wouldn't have retired had he not been waived. Now we have nothing...
Tue Oct 18, 2005 4:20 am
and the knicks could've saved $40mil on luxuary tax.
Where's JYD thesedays? Is he retired?
Tue Oct 18, 2005 5:49 am
yes, JYD (one of the all-time fan favourite of the Raptors) has retired.

Ah I was just gonna post this up.
WFAN Radio (NY) - According to Radio Station WFAN and Steven A. Smith of ESPNRadio, New York Knicks ' guard Allan Houston is set to announce his retirement today. He's calling a 4 PM EST Press Conference today.
Houston was signed as free agent by New York on Jul. 14, 1996, and re-signed by New York on Jul. 23, 2001. He has career averages of 17 PPG, 44-Percent in FGs, 86-Percent in FTs (including winning the free throw title in the 2002-03 Season, and 40% from downtown.
Houston was critical for New York in many playoff Games, including the "shot" against Miami. He Led the 1999-2000 Knicks in scoring (19.7, 21st in the NBA) and in three-point field-goal percentage (.436, 5th in the NBA).

Well , I'm gonna miss him . I wish him the best with his knee. Good luck Allan.

Clitske shut up you loser. The man tried his heart out to comeback to the knicks, but his knee didnt hold up. Whats he sposed to do, go and buy a new knee? Spastic.
Tue Oct 18, 2005 6:32 am
depends how you look at it, its good because they saved two players' contracts worth of money, but because they didnt use the amnesty cause on allan houston, jyd retired, so i guess the bad part is it caused a perfectly good player (determination wise, not skill, hes alright but not exceptional)to retire.

I think you were trying to insult me, as the first word you typed kind of resembles my screen name. Thanks for the personal compliments too, I appreciate it.
A little more on-topic, even a 'spastic' or 'loser' like me knows that after 50 comeback tries, Houston wasn't going to succeed this time either.
Next time it would be nice if you could just reply like you're a normal person, I'm pretty sure you are so no need to start bitching like that. Have a nice day.

houston has always been a pussy.

What are the Knicks going to do without their "best player"?

lmao, i dunno why, but its hard for me to think he was ever part of a dunk contest. by the way, anyone have any of his other dunks from the same dunk contest?

He was always labelled as a one-dimensional shooter and I don't think that he did very well in the slam dunk contest either. The dunk he did in the gif has a pretty good idea, but he doesn't have the air-time or power to make it look that good.
Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:15 pm
Well, anyone think the knicks might retire his jersey? Him and Dolan have a special relationship so u neva know
Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:17 pm
I think they should, he was the franchise for many years.
Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:21 pm
I think they should too
About the dunk, give him props he didnt take a run and shoot hardly
Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:22 pm
Is his slaray going to still count against the team?

why did you remind me of that shot? it got me two sleepless nights...
i just hate Houston even more now cause i've just drafted him in a Yahoo! Fantasy league... i think that's why he retired, no heat fan can ever have him in a fantasy team.
actually i think it's not so good for the knicks, as Houston could at least contribute form the 3-point line in the final minutes of a game.

You're criticising him for trying to come back still. Who are you exactly, somebody who has made the nba? You are in no position to criticise him. He tried his best to return, but it just didnt hold up. Its not his fault the pre Isiah management offered him 100 million dollars.
And people think Isiah is a bad GM..

Houston's knee is definitely bothering him alot, he really got no choice but to retire. I thought he can make a comeback after resting so much during the offseason, just like Grant Hill, who also bothered by injuries during 2001-2003 but he came back to played 67 games in last season. Houston is definitely a very popular Knick and he will always be remember as a Knick.
