Only 32, cant believe hes retiring at 32 considering theirs probably more than 15 teams in the league that would love to have JYD on their roster.

He brings a lotta energy, that's for sure, on the court and as a cheerleader. He was fun to watch on Toronto, grabbing those balls, but I cringe anytime he shoots, though. 32 is fairly old, but he doesn't seem like a guy that's ready to retire, though. I guess he has other priorities in life now.

Well, he's still going to be involved with basetball, so I guess this is a good time. He is young though.

32 and retiring? I agree, a lot of teams would probably love to have him.
I wonder what drove him to retire...

He's the first player from the 96 draft class who made it in the NBA to retire. Remember that in 1996 were drafted: Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant, Peja Stojakovic, Steve Nash, Jermaine O'Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Othella Harrington, Jeff McInnis, Malik Rose, Shandon Anderson... All these guys were rookies in NBA Live 97

so JYD is still in NY, nice to see (Y) He could still play for almost any other team though but I guess he rather retire "young" and put that money he got to use ;)

i don't see how it makes sense. if they knew he was retiring, they don't use the amnesty rule on him since nyk would only have to pay a % of his contract IIRC

Hahahahahaha thats funny for the Knicks. Now they used the amnesty tax thing on him and he retired, lol.

He was a good player, wasnt selfish, and didnt care about how much he scored.
One of a few players I respect.

I am very surprise to see JVD retired so early. I mean he still have at least 3-4 years to play in the NBA. Well, enjoy your retirement JVG, the hustle man.

JVG... I was thinking Jeff Van Gundy there for a moment...

JYD... Maybe they didn't want to us it on Houston, if he's ready to come back.

That seemed to come out of nowhere. He didn't seem to be heading towards retirement, though perhaps he's simply grown tired of playing professional basketball.

This comes as a surprise move. Williams Retiring, just 32, whereas kevin willis intends to play for raptors next year at 43/44? everybody's different. I thought jyd had three + years left in the tank...
wonder if he might still be in live as Free Agent?
