[Your Team Here] 2005-2006 Season Roster

Postby NNpF on Sun Jul 24, 2005 3:58 am

Hi

I made this thread because I am curious as to what you would like your team's roster to look like at the beginning of the season.

What I'm saying is, if you were the GM of your team at this very moment, and lets all be realistic, who would you sign that's still a free agent? Any trades you would like to make (Realistic)?

So just post what you would want your starting line-up and bench to look like at the beginning of the season and tell us what you did.

And remember, be realistic!

I obviously am going to do the New Jersey Nets.

Starting Line-up:
C - Nenad Krstic
PF - Shareef Abdur-Rahim
SF - Richard Jefferson
SG - Vince Carter
PG - Jason Kidd

Bench:
F/C - Jason Collins
G/F - Ron Mercer
PG - Zoran Planinic
F/C - Clifford Robinson
PG - Jacque Vaughn
SG - Antoine Wright
C - Mile Illic
PG - Juan Dixon
SG - Richie Frahm
PF - Othella Harrington

1) Signed Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Clifford Robinson, Mile Illic, Juan Dixon, Richie Frahm and Othella Harrington.

Now, I don't know how all this signing works, what I do know is the Nets do not have the CAP space to really sign a big free agent so I was skeptic as to what Juan Dixon is expecting, and I don't know if everything I did would work out.

So please, post your roster and feel free to correct anyone (Including me) if they make a mistake with a signing or a trade.

Philadelphia 76ers

Roster As of now
C Jackson
PF Webber/Bradley
SF Korver/McKie/Mashburn
SG Iguodala/Green/Salmons
PG Iverson/Ollie

1) Re-Sign Dalembert. Match any offer of the Hawks
2) Somehow get Mashburn to retire. This will free up some cap space.
3) Sign Louis Williams. He'll be a good player someday.
4) Try and get Walker, who would go into the 3, and Chris Crawford for some PF depth. He was a good player in 03-04 before getting hurt in 04-05 and expressed interest in playing here.
5) Trade Kevin Ollie because he is not a very good player. Maybe we could get a 2nd rounder or a young PF or C that has lots of potential. I don't know if Cleveland would give us Andriuskevicius for Ollie. But they are without a good PG (Gooden-Jaric trade isn't official) so Ollie would get PT if the Cavs dont sign someone.

Then our roster would look like this:
C Dalembert/Jackson/Andriuskevicius
PF Webber/Crawford/Bradley
SF Walker/Korver/McKie
SG Iguodala/Green/Salmons/Williams
PG Iverson

Detroit Pistons

PF - Rasheed Wallace
SF - Tayshaun Prince
SG - Rip Hamilton

Bench:

PF - Antonio McDyess
G/F - Jalen Rose

I dont think the Pistons have enough for a lot of FAs but Jalen is a guy who can fill it up real quick and he can play multiple positions.

If/when Brown joins the Knicks, wouldn't he do what he always do? Not play young players that is.

Which in the long run really would hurt the Knicks. Not getting development through minutes for Nate, Frye and Ariza seems bad for the franchise.

Why the hell would he leave Boston for a division rival where he would play behind Webber? Aspecially when bigger teams seems to be out for his services through a S'n'T.

why is everyone saying this?  i like Rose in Toronto. He's done pretty well for the team. Besides, the raptors can't afford to lose him as they have hard time attracting players. and SG/SF is the position they need help with. It's hard to sign a player with MLE to replace Rose. It's true he has a huge salary, but the raptors just have to live with it IMO.

Los Angeles Lakers (Fellas, correct me if I'm wrong!)

C: Chris Mihm
PF: Kwame Brown
SF: Lamar Odom
SG: Kobe Bryant
PG: Tyronn Lue

Bench:

C: Andrew Bynum
PF: Brian Cook
SF: Jumaine Jones
SF: Devean George
PG: Sasha Vujacic
SF: Luke Walton
C: Vlade Divac

Injred Reserves:

SG: Von Wafer
PF: Ronny Turiaf
PF: Stanislav Medvedenko

1) Lakers will sign a PG this offseason and with Antonio Daniels out of the running, I see LA turning to Tyronn Lue who has played under Jackson before. The two parties are reportedly talking. Lue will start ahead of Vujacic who I see eventually taking away that spot later in the season.

2) Due to Turiaf's recent news, I'm not too sure what LA will do about Grant. If Ronny was alright, they would cut Grant from the team but I'm not sure what they will do here. I believe that they will cut Grant and re-sign Vlade Divac. Divac's 'suposedly' retired but claims that the Lakers will reaccess him at a later date which means a return may be possible.

3) Von Wafer should be signed by LA but used this season. Had a decent showing at Summer LEague with 22 and 29 points against Memphis.

Its a business man. Besides 'Toine would not play behind Webber (we don't have that stupid Jim O'Brien anymore :D ) He would play SF, which is where he played in 03-04 while he was in Dallas. Korver would just become the 6th man.

As for the sign+trade, we would not do that at all to get Walker. They would want Webber (who hasn't played long enough in Philly to decide whether he is a bust here or not) or some of our good young players. This proposal is not exactly realistic, but it's what i would want and this team could win a championship.

Chicago Bulls:

C: E Curry ( or whoever FA they sign)
PF: T Chandler: defensive minded player
SF: L Deng: being compared to Grant Hill
SG: K Hinrich: n/a
PG: B Gordon: mr 4th quarter

I'm liking very much the above line-up if they all play up to their full potential.

S&T with Philly is doubtful in my mind. I would guess on Walker staying put in Boston.

And if you got him somehow, playing him:

A/ At SF would be disastrous
B/ In the same team as Webber and AI would be equally disastrous

Walker is a ball-hog with seriously deteriorating passing instincts that wants the offence run through him, not around him. Considering that C-Webb and AI is of the same caliber it would spell disaster for Philly. But sure, if you'd take Blount and Walker (those two will hopefully go together) off our hands - yes please.

I dunno, I don't see Jalen Rose willing to take a pay cut AND to be on the bench. A much more realistic possibility I feel is to take Allan Houston to fill in as a long range shooter.

actually that might just be what happens. no big mystery that jackson likes big guards so he might just run the point through odom and play those 2 at the guard slots.

Im gonna say Jalen would take a paycut to play in his hometown (Detroit), start to win (Toronto and Chicago) anyone would take a paycut to get out of Toronto. He would play a lot on a shallow bench at the 2 and 3 and hed be a solid 12, 13.0 ppg scorer and he wouldnt have to be the ultimate bridesmade. Hes been it in college twice and the pros once.

And the thought that someone would sign Allan Houston to play serious minutes at a big scorer position with his knees like they are now? Hell no, he'll be a situational shooter the rest of his career.

Isn't Detorit his home town? (In reference to Rose)

And about the Lakers... Kobe is not playing PG. If Butler was still around, he'd have more chance of starting 1 than Bryant.
