tired of boguts crap

Andrew Bogut says that unlike Luc Longley, he's an Aussie who can really play. Bogut alluded to Longley's being "a stiff" who owed all of his NBA successes to the accident of being Michael Jordan's teammate beg to differ. Longley was a better scorer in his undergraduate career than Bogut. In the pros, Longley was a fantastic passer, an excellent picker and a more than adequate defender. Also, Longley significantly contributed to three Bulls' championships by meticulously executing the triangle offense. I hope Bogut can walk the walk better than he can talk the talk

i posted a topic couple weeks ago with him saying negative comments against kobe. well here he fucking blasts off again saying shit about his countrymen... what can he possibly have against major contributors to 2 of the greatest dynasties in nba history? i'd like him to shut his fucking mouth, play basketball, and show me that he can win a championship before he blasts off on ppl

What link did you get that from? I don't think he would go on and talk shit about Longley.. have to see it to believe it.

That still doesn't indicate anything bud, it can just be a false report. If you can find a quote by Bogut then I'll accept it. That article is basicly an accusation it looks like...

It's true, but he's right. How would you like to be compared to Longley for your entire career just because you're big and white? It's not as if Longley would have had a championship playing for any other team either. He got into a lucky situation and only really had to learn 1 offence for most of his career. Everyone whinges about athletes not speaking their mind and giving out generic comments, then when someone actually does say what's on their mind people have a cry about it.

Jaesussssss, I just wanna see some sort of proof he said it lol.. I guess it just suprises me because dissing someone isnt really the best start to a career, specially if he's from the same country. Don't get me wrong, he might of said that but I'm sure the media exaggerated..isnt that what they love to do?

Basically all he said was that he didn't want to be compared to Luc Longley.

"I've had a better collegiate career than anyone else from Australia that came over here," Bogut said. "I'm not as slow as Luc Longley, I'm more athletic, I can shoot better, I'm more competitive. So I think it's not even fair to bring that name up."

Going quote for quote...

"I've had a better collegiate career than anyone else from Australia that came over here,"

Absolutely true.

"I'm not as slow as Luc Longley"

True again.

I'm more athletic, I can shoot better

True.

I'm more competitive.

Won't know that until we see him play in the NBA, but comparing the two on court it seems true.

So I don't see the problem to be honest. It's not as if he "owes" anything to Australian basketball, I mean he was trained by a Croatian it's not as if he came through the Aussie system.

I don't think what he said was wrong at all, just like you said he's gettin a little sick of being compared to Longley. And well shit man he should. But the way the media sounds things out they make it sound like Bogut was dissing Longley. He just simply stated the obvious.

"I'm not as slow as Luc Longley, I'm more athletic, I can shoot better, I'm more competitive. So I think it's not even fair to bring that name up."

When you're a total different type of player and you get compared to someone that is nothing like you, you'll state reasons why you're not the same, simply what he's doing. He's 100% right. (Y)

I didn't like Luc while he was playing for the Bulls but he was a contributor nonetheless. And Bogut should be talking shit when he hasn't done shit on a nba court yet.

The 20-year-old apologised for his comments yesterday, claiming he had been taken out of context.

But Bogut, who played two seasons of college basketball at Utah, then dropped a bucket on the NBL, claiming the coaches and the competition were not good enough for players to graduate to the NBA.

Given Gaze, Heal, Anstey and Mark Bradtke all went to the NBA from the NBL, and Bogut's mate from the Townsville Crocs, Brad Newley, is poised to do the same, he may wish to revise his thinking.

"Just let your basketball do the talking," Anstey said.

"You don't need to talk up your game if you're winning championships."

Anstey, who was drafted at No. 18 in 1997, also offered a vote of support for Longley.

"He said he doesn't want to be compared to Luc Longley," Anstey said. "The first person I called when I got to the States was Luc Longley. He gave me a lot of good advice.

"He was an absolutely perfect fit for the best team the world has ever seen, and he's got three championship rings to show for that. Luc has been far and away the most successful Australian in the NBA."

If Charles Barkley's comments making light of the abuse of women and children and for that matter pretty much all of his quotes from they day he entered the league until now can be considered funny if not always politically correct, surely Bogut's words are no big deal - especially those taken out of context. That said, he might want to choose some of his words more carefully.

It's not as though he's the only rookie to speak his mind like that. Plenty of guys have had much more swagger and looser tongues than him.

he's comments were fair IMO....his college career was far superior to Longley's or any other Australian basketballer....media has just taken them and spun them and made him sound worse....

tired of Bogut's crap? I'm tired of Australia's crap when it comes to basketball....and soccer for that matter....but this has been well discussed in other threads, so I'll leave it at that....

When Bogut retires from the league in all likelyhood without having won a ring (since statistically most players don't win one), he'll be wishing like hell he was Longley with 3 of them, not to mention having had the priviledge of playing with perhaps the greatest player ever.

I don't know why Bogut would get all defensive about the comparison. Next time he gets compared to Luc Longley, he should just say "sweet, I'm going to win 3 rings in my career?". Although that response would probably also piss people off. You just can't win when people have it in for you.

you can understand why Bogut would be defensive about being compared to a player who was considered a laughingstock around the NBA, and considered another Bill Wennington or Will Perdue....

of course, in hindsight, it would be good if Bogut could laugh off comments and suggestions like that and spin a good line or two that gives everyone a good laugh and offends no one....

I guess Bogut won't mind the Divac and Miller comparisons, if the next best thing is a Longley comparison....they should compare Bogut to a black guy, not some white guy....

If I was starting an NBA career and the main stereotype is that I'm probably a big white slow guy because the last Australian people have heard of was also big white and slow I'd be doing whatever I can to dispell that.

You might want to refine that because he has proven he is a good basketball player... he won pretty much every individual college award he could, he was probably Australia's best player at the Olympics and had a big game against the USA... so I'm going to assume that you mean prove that he is a good basketballer in the NBA.

K sry I dont watch NCAA that close. So the only time I look at college players is during the final four and the draft talk. But at the same time being good in college doesnt neccesarilly makes you a good NBA player and vice versa.
