No way man, the defense is gonna make the series exciting! It's gonna be tough and physical.

I say Spurs in 6, since the Spurs have shown their ability to be able to both score and play defense. The only time Detroit can't get beat is when they play tight, tight defense and don't go cold offensively.

I don't think it will be boring. The Pistons are a good team to watch. All because no superstar athletes aren't in the series doesn't mean it will be boring. It's not going to be as boring as last seasons' series where the Pistons pounced the Lakers 4-1. At least this one will have actual competition. I'll say Spurs in 7 and I had Spurs to win it to whoever won the Detroit-Miami series so I'm sticking to it.

well, it's a shame that the 2 best teams in the league are boring.

For me this is the dream series.

I'm not sure what to predict in this game. A part of me is saying San Antionio the other is saying Detroit. Detroit's play was erratic against Miami so i have my doubts, but i'm sure that they will compete in this one. There's no Wade to stop so that's a bonus.

Detroit win in 7.

Btw, my Detroit vs Miami 4-3 prediction was spot on...damn, i own

I don't know, like I said in the Pistons/Heat thread I've got a feeling it's going to go beyond superb defense to the point of being ugly, but I hope I'm wrong. My conflict in this series is that I really didn't want either team to win the championship.

I'll predict Spurs in six.

Yea but theres a Ginobili. Add a 3 point shooter (Bowen). A consistent guy inside (Duncan) and a bunch of other talented players.

Ginobili isn't on Wades level. Bowen isn't a problem, not like EJ was and Duncan is easier to stop than Shaq.

duncan easier to stop? are you crazy. maybe if u were comparing to a healthier shaq, or younger one too. duncan is a more fundamentally sound scorer, rather than shaq, although i hate to admit, just backs you down and throws a hook shot.

anywho, just because detroit beat the injury-plagued miami heat, i will say spurs = champions

Well... that's your opinion...

But for me this series is going to be really tough and it will be a bloody long series! San Antonio Spurs versus Detroit Pistons, top defensive teams in the leauge, deep bench, scientific and basic / straight-up basketball (basketBRAWL  )

Ben Wallace vs Nazr Mohammed
Rasheed Wallace vs Tim Duncan
Tayshaun Prince vs Bruce Bowen
Richard Hamilton vs Manu Ginobili
Chancey Billups vs Tony Parker

San Antonio Spurs - 2003 NBA Champions
Detroit Pistons - 2004 NBA Champions

Would anyone else consider this as a boring series?

It's really hard to predict who will win at this point... meantime, let's just wait and enjoy this long 7-game series and let these two champions battle it on the court and decide who's the 2005 NBA champions!

yeah, i still consider it a bore-o series.

the san antonio series receieved the WORSE POSSIBLE RATINGS for a basketball game.

detriots rating was only good because of the laker drama. shit, BORE-O SERIES OF THE MILLENIUM (N)

I think it'll be slightly better than that Rockets-Knicks 7 game series about 10 years ago....now that series was ugly....

If nothing else, John Starks' shooting in Game 7 of that series was abysmal.

 almost forgot about that....he went something like 1/9 from 3pt or worse, and his FG numbers were no better....

Dream was good though....but that series was the worst ever....

He was 0/11 from downtown and 2/18 overall, a complete turnaround from his performance in Game 6 of that series. As much as Olajuwon and the Rockets earned that victory, Starks shot the Knicks out of that one down the stretch.

Edit: I should clarify the Starks comment by mentioning the Knicks still lost that game despite his performance, but he was basically a liability in Game 7.

SAS in 5.

I don't think i've ever seen a better SAS team...even when they had Robinson. Parker - Ginobli are just trouble.

And not belittle the Pistons (well maybe a little) but outside the 1st round, both teams they've beaten were not even close to full manpower. Indy didn't have artest, JON was clearly still recovering, Shaq was injured, Wade was injured.

Of course, you cannot win a playoff title with luck...but damn this is pretty damn close. SAS will be the 1st contender team Detroit faces with full manpower.

yeah, I remember that....if Starks had even had a subpar shooting display then the Knicks would have got the win....it was funny at the time because up until that point in his career, Starks was Mr. Clutch in NY....I think after that game, his NY career was basically over....Knicks brought in Allan Houston and Starks' Knicks days were numbered....

tommorow when i have some time i would like to dig through the old posts and see how many people actually predicted this matchup at seasons start and then again when the playoffs started. i may be wrong but i think i picked the pistons to make the finals when the season started. i know for a fact i picked the spurs and i wont be changing that now.
