What are your thoughts about Shawn Marion not being in there?

I always thought Arenas and Hughes were synonymous on defense, so I was expecting to Arenas on the second team.

Although Arenas is one of the top thieves at #6, Hughes is just a freak with 2.89 SPG vs Arenas' 1.74 SPG. Hughes clobbered everybody in this dept, including AI.

Marion not being in there is a crime. He's got the stats and he's got the added factor of being assigned to guard bigger players every game now that he's in the PF slot for matchups.

I thought Marion should've definitely been there. I think its kinda funny for 3 Pistons to be there especially Billups.

as well im happy that j.kidd is on there.. guy misses a lot of games this season but coaches still think he's a defensive threat.

also, @ anthony johnson beating lebron in votes
one more thing, bruce bowen is a bum. i'd love to kick that fucker in the face

I don't like how Hughes is on there, SPG is an irrelvant stat. There is no great stat for defense, sadly.

The first team should have been.

Ron Artest is in the All-Aggressive first team.

You're right.. you can't really measure defense... even if they had a stat for it, it'd be difficult to calculate that stat.

Good selections, though I too am surprised to see Billups there. I agree that AI and Marion should have at least made the second team.

Agree with Andrew and the other users. Why is Billups there? He has never been mentioned as a defensive-type player :?

arenas isn't on the same level as hughes defensively.
i don't know what kirilenko was doing on that list. he didn't even play half the season
jason kidd- i'm not too sure. great defender but not this year
i think marion got snubbed too

i was a little disappointed to see great defensive teams like the spurs and pistons have some of their guys make it but none from chicago, who lead the league in defense fg%

Why do I only see the First team and second team All Def teams? I thought there was supposed to be a THIRD all Def Team. Maybe I'm wrong.

Shawn Marion musta been there, he's the closest thing to KG in stats.

Kobe is a much better defender than Billups but maybe he got dissed this year because of many illogical reasons I won't explain here.

The Bulls play great team defense, but I don't think you can choose one or two players that really stand out in that aspect for the Bulls. Maybe Nocioni and Chandler...or Deng :?

yes you can as chandler and hinrich are excellent individual defenders as well as excellent team defenders

hinrich and chandler should have gotten more votes. hinrich constantly gets praise from opposing coaches for his defense.. chandler got a few votes for 6th man soley based on his defense..

noice signature air gordon. badasses up derr.

LBJ doesn't get any consideration? yet mr. hughes gets on the first team solely for steals? LBJ was top 3 and no vote? ai and marion not even on the 2nd team?

that's terrible. billups is good, but he definitely doesn't deserve it over marion and AI.

Glad to see chandler getting some votes

arenas isn't on the same level as hughes defensively.

Not even close, their's many times Arenas has beem a bad defender. He can lock it down at times, but overall his man to man defense is weak.

Pope Riot wrote:I don't like how Hughes is on there, SPG is an irrelvant stat. There is no great stat for defense, sadly.

Their are defensive stats, but their's no one defensive stat that can say it all, you still have to watch the players. Hughes is a good man to man defender though depending on the situation. He's not a consistent shut down player [not close], but depending on the matchup he can shut players down, and he's a bother for opposing guards because he places so much pressure on them. I wouldn't consider him a 1st Team Defender, but whatever.

Chauncey Billups was an odd selection, but also with the league's new rules it was hard for players to play as well defensively. I know a lot of people will say why wasn't Marion there, but Marion is not an All-Defensive player at PF. He's at best an average defender at PF, though at SF he's above average and good, but he played PF this season.

Yea, but he was a monster in defense when he played! Up there in stats also with regards to steals, blocks, and rebounds!

WTF is Billups doing in there? NO AI?

Billups, Kidd and Wade shouldnt be there. Marion got robbed. Iguodala should have gotten a couple more votes (im not sayin he should be on the 1st or 2nd team but conisdering how he locked up players like Kobe he sure deserved more than what he got...).
