All-Rookie Teams Announced

Postby Keo on Fri May 06, 2005 10:10 am

Take a look: http://www.nba.com/news/allrookie_050505.html

First team includes Emeka, Dwight, Ben, Deng and Iggy...

Second team includes Nenad, Josh Smith, Chill, J. Nelson and Al Jeffeson.

I'm kind of disapointed that J.R. Smith didn't make it to any of them...

I'm surprised Deng made it in front of one of the Atlanta boys considering he's been injured so much. Everybody else was a no-brainer.

Solid draft.

Pretty much what I expected. Deng on the first team's kinda shaky though

Good selections, it's a shame there's no third team to accomodate guys like Chris Duhon, Beno Udrih, JR Smith, Devin Harris and whoever else you might want to make a case for.

i'm glad deng made the team. doesn't make the highlight reels but had a very solid rookie campaign.

i think some people forget about him because he was injured the last few weeks of the year. if his injury came in the beginning instead, i don't think many would be doubting his selection

pretty strange that jr smith wins a few rookie of the months but doesn't make 1st team.

2 first all nba rookies...

wow what a draft by paxson. thank goodness the days of drafting busts like dalibor bagaric, khalid-el amin, etc are behind the bulls

JR didnt make it......wtf....he was the west's best rookie...he should have made it over Childress on the second team at least.

Deng's choice is weird considering the amount of games he played....I think Duhon should have made it or least Nocioni....

crappy voters

Deng on the first team is shaky, that's about all. JR couldn't made it, but it's not a snub or anything, he wasn't anymore amazing than anyone else. Childress or Smith should've been over Deng.

Jameer Nelson was excellent when the Magic gave him a chance. He was averaging 14/4/5 or something like that.

I'm surprised Livingston got overlooked. He's averaging solid numbers as a rookie: 7.4 ppg, 3 rpg, 5 apg, and a steal a game.

Livingston only played 20 something games, so though I like him, it would've been terrible to put him on over guys who played 70+ games, that would just be bad.

Other players receiving votes, with point totals (first place votes): J.R. Smith, New Orleans, 15 (2); Andres Nocioni, Chicago, 15 (2); Beno Udrih, San Antonio, 11 (1); Chris Duhon, Chicago, 10; Devin Harris, Dallas, 10 (1); Tony Allen, Boston, 6 (1); Nick Collison, Seattle, 3; Anderson Varejao, Cleveland, 2; Shaun Livingston, L.A. Clippers, 2 (1); Trevor Ariza, New York, 1; Sebastian Telfair, Portland, 1; Matt Bonner, Toronto, 1.

Livingston did get a first place vote though, I wonder what coach gave him that, I mean I wouldn't be surprised because when another coach see's him play, they could be amazed, but 26 games...

Also about Childress and JR:

Childress: 10.1 PPG | 6.0 RPG | 1.9 APG | 29.7 MPG | 47.0% FG

JR Smith: 10.3 PPG | 2.0 RPG | 1.9 APG | 24.5 MPG | 39.4% FG

I think Childress easily won that one, Smith scored more, but was very inefficient, and he assisted more per minute, but Childress destroyed him in rebounds, FG%, and had a better A/T ratio.

Yea, watch out next year though, the guys is just too sick, if he can stay injury free, he can put up numbers like 10 PPG | 5 RPG | 7-8 APG

jr shoulda been 2nd team, but i dont think he was snubbed. the 2nd team players are all more "efficient" than JR. glad next-boredom-of-the-future/spurs beno didn't make it.

yeah, jameer was easily overlooked (he put up great numbers and played adequate def. for orlando) and he deserved his spot, although his name wasn't often used.

glad deng made it there, despite his injuries. j-smoove at 2nd team was pretty weird, considering he was top 10 in blocks per game and at the 2/3 spot. biased aside, it was a tough rookie class to get into 1st team. BUT NENAD OVER JSMOOVE IN THE VOTING!? WTF IS WITH THAT. I CANT ACCEPT THAT SHIT :cussing:

If JR had shot a little more accurately than 39% FG and 29% 3P, he probably would have made it. Childress is firing at 47%, that's damn nice for a G/F.

And for such an atheltic tall guard, it seems like he should get more boards than 2 RPG. Even Ben Gordon off the bench at 6' 3" pulls down more rebounds.

He sort of became "the man" for the Hornets aswell, so he really did have chances to boost all of those stats considering the team was going nowhere.
