Final MVP Thread

Postby Ataraxia on Sun Apr 03, 2005 6:58 pm

Sorry for starting a thread...but I thought since the season is nearing its end its an ideal time to finally vote/give our views on who the MVP will be.

This year is extremely close.....

Alrite Im goin to do a small breakdown for the list of the favourites.

Steve Nash
Prolly the fav...but hes missed abt 6-8 games I believe.....hes definitely been a key factor to the Suns success....but Nash doesnt get it done well enuff on the defensive end....if he grabbed at least 5 RPG and had at least 1.5 SPG....he would no doubt be the best choice.

Tim Duncan
Hes missed way to many games....his stats and record is still highly impressive...but its hard to give u an MVP crown when u missed around 15 games of the season....he might have had a chance of being MVP and DPOY aswell...but the injuries ruined it.

Shawn Marion
Missed a couple of games..I think 3-4....hes my favourite for it....hes strong on both ends of the court and u cant deny that if he wasnt doin a great job guarding elite SF's & PF's then the Suns wouldnt be this successful...hes been playing outta position aswell and hes done a splendid job.

Amare Stoudemire
The fact that hes not on the double double mark kinda spoils his chances...he has been playing outta position(sorta)...but maybe if he was at 25-10 per nite...then he could/should get it.

Ray Allen
Hes stats have reduced but hes a key reason for the uprising of the Sonics this season....but I think his stat line kinda spoils his chances for the MVP award.

Shaq
Missed some games....but still hes got good numbers and without his presence the Heat wouldnt win alotta games despite Wade's big improvement....hes got a good chance actually...I dunno I dont like Shaq alot so maybe thats why I dont want him to win it. :P

Dirk Nowitzki
I think hes missed some games?...not sure but hes got good numbers...hes kept the team together despite Nash's departure and the arrival of new faces....hes prolly my second favourite next to Marion to get the award.

Sorry, but what do you mean with this? Gadzuric happens to be one of the best rebounders in the league. :?

Hence my comment. Although I'm not sure if he's one of the "best", 24th in the league with esteemed company like Joel Pryzbilla, Nazr Mohammed and LeBron

i think its going to come down to Nash and Shaq.
I think it may come down to who has the better record in the end kind of like how KG/Duncan was last year meaning Nash is deseving of it.
Then again, he could get screwed like Jason Kidd did when he brought the Nets to the finals and Tim Duncan won the MVP

Steve Nash has more impact on suns than any other player with their teams (maybe Shaq with heat)

shaq's the big name though and he does more than what shows up on the stat sheets.
wade just hitting the big shots and such and taking over when needed kind of like a kobe-like role.

Yeah where is Lebron James? He might not be a top 5 in the MVP ballots but he's definitely a top 10.

Anywyas, I would give it to Shaq because he has had more impact in the Heats than any other player incluidng Nash. I don't think Nash has enough popularity to go against Shaq so with that being said Shaquille O'Neal is the MVP 2004-05.

It's defenitly Steve Nash. What he's done for the Suns is incrideble and he's made Amare an All-Star and the Suns the best team in the West.

Amare was a borderline all-star the past two years anyway. That wasn't much work. I DO think that the Suns' record gives him MVP rights though.

What I meant was he went from solid player to really big all-star and most of that is thanks to the arrival of Steve Nash.
