Trade in the works, Mobley and Christie involved

Tue Jan 11, 2005 10:31 am

Just heard that Mobley and Christie are in trade talks.

According to ESPN, this is how it would go:

Magic get:

Doug Christie

Kings get:

Cuttino Mobley
Michael Bradley

Why is this good for the Magic?

Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:16 am

I think it's a bad trade for the Magic but these two players are on their last year of their contracts.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:29 am

Well Christie is the better defender and passer, but it's weird to see Francis without Mobley, you know what, I'll say it's a good deal for them. Mobley likes to shoot, and with him gone, it will open more offensive oppurtunities for Dwight Howard, and Turkoglu

I think that the Kings one here; Christie is a veteran and he's averaging 7 points a game. So this will be the lineups?:

Magic
Kelvin Cato
Dwight Howard
Grant Hill
Doug Christie
Steve Francis

Kings
Brad Miller
Chris Webber
Peja Stojakovic
Cuttino Mobley
Mike Bibby

You'd have to assume they would be the teams, unless hedo is now starting. I can see why both teams made the deal, although it doesnt really help orlando on paper.

Bad trade for ORL on paper, terrible trade for SAC on the court. I don't feel SAC wins this trade, but it does benefit ORL more than it does the Kings.

Its not at all, those stupid Magic
I hope this deal goes through
Go Kings!

Probably so the magic can focus the offence on hill , francis and dwight. Instead of cuttino being the black hole on offence.

For some reason, the Magic always tries to find a way to lose. They were doing fine with Mobley in the lineup.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 12:46 pm

Geez Homer would love this one

Tue Jan 11, 2005 1:22 pm

seems like Jameer Nelson likes this move, played his best game as a pro tonight. Maybe theyll start christie but try playing francis a little at off guard and nelson at the point. this is kind of a addition by subtraction move. there has been some stuff about how terrible the defense is for the magic this year, this is their idea of shoring things up a bit in that area. i think it could end up as a good move for both teams, as long as someone can pick up the slack for christies defense(Maurice Evans?).

Shit! Mobley was my man and Orlando trades him? WTF? This really does hurt like hell :x

It's official now. Christie brings a defensive presence and winning experience to the Magic. Mobley is a good few notches below Christie in terms of defense and also mandates the ball more on the offensive end.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 2:39 pm

Bad trade for the kings. I mean obviously Mobley is a better younger player, but why would a team with such horrible defense trade away their only defender for another....get this....3 point shooter.

The trade would be a great trade if mobley went to a team that had good defense, but not to the kings.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 2:55 pm

Mobley better show up.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 3:12 pm

The Magic desperately needed some defense.... It's a good trade for them... 8-)

Tue Jan 11, 2005 3:32 pm

yea Magic needed defense, they got shooters already so good trade for them but on the other hand, now Sacramento has no defense at all now lol, they just traded the only player that actually play hard defense

Tue Jan 11, 2005 7:27 pm

i like this trade from Magic's point of view. Now Francis can take all the bad shots!

Christie is the defender that will come in handy against Hamilton, Jackson, Wade

Tue Jan 11, 2005 7:57 pm

Christie is an O.K. defender but I'd take mobley over him in a heartbeat. I think orlando did this only becuase of this being Mobleys last season under contract. Sacramento has so much firepower right now its scary. Webber, Miller, Peja, Mobley, Bibby... all these guys can shoot, and there is some defense in there. They might have the best starting 5 in the nba right now.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:06 pm

Christie isn't as good a defender as some are making him out to be, he's not a stopper like a Artest, Posey etc, he's always been more of an off than on ball defender, but on ball, he's good, but not great.

Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:13 pm

he's still a better option than mobley as far as defence goes.
