Dikembe Mutombo
Allan Houston
Damon Stoudamire
Anfernee Hardaway
Grant Hill
Jalen Rose
Brian Grant
Tim Thomas

Wow... I bet their teams would pay the $14,000,000 or whatever to have them shot, or found in a creek.

Utah sure does know how to put a team together without using lots of CAP space. They are 29th on that list and will more than likely be a playoff contender this year.

shaq has what no one else in the league has and what no one might not have for alone time, a really large frame and skills to boot. when you are 1 of a kind you can basicly ask for what you want.

that being said i dont think he deserves it. he is getting older and will steadily go down hill from here. i expect him to have a good season this year as he seems fully motivated but after this season i think a decline will occur.

so i was right? Shaq was getting 29,464,288 in those 7 months? Which is $359,320 per game!!?? This is absolutley outrageous. Its like a av. house a game!

I also found that KG took a very BIG pay cut to get new players, from 25mil to 16 http://web.archive.org/web/200306011406 ... laries.htm

Still, i cant get over Shaq's pay! What is Kobe's, i know its very big, like 130 for 7 years, and a "no-trade' clause, 1st time in NBA?!!

Now i know why Shawn Kemp didn't play last season, he made 15+ mil for eating!
Its funny how the best player in the NBA is one of the lowest payed @ 14 mil!

no, i was pretty sure that i read that kobe's contract "no-trade" was the 1st.
Still pretty incredible, a rookie and get 385000 a year! A nive sallery for a season ticket to the bench!

Charles Barkley had a no-trade clause in his contract back in 1996 which allowed him to veto any trade he didn't like. I believe even Matt Geiger had one at some point which vetoed a trade that would have sent him to Detroit along with Allen Iverson. Kobe's contract might be slightly different, but it's not the first time a player's had a no-trade clause.

Here's the rule about no-trade clauses:

After at least eight seasons in the league and four with the same team, players who are re-signing with their current employers can negotiate a no-trade clause.

So it is pretty obvious why such clauses are rare.

Matt Geiger didn't have a no-trade clause, he refused to waive a trade kicker. With the trade kicker, the salaries didn't match (or the Pistons wouldn't accept him, either one).

Jason Terry had a no-trade clause but they got around it somehow.

Terry didn't have a no trade clause. They couldn't trade him to a team unless he agreed for a year because Atlanta had matched his offer sheet.
