Kobe's Decision

Postby Amphatoast on Fri Jul 16, 2004 2:42 am

3pm EST today Kobe will decide which LA team he will go to.
ironic how this is happening the day after Shaq is traded & clippers made cap room to sign Kobe to the max.

Yeah, but looks kind of obvious to me. Kobe needed all te information before taking a decision. Now he knows Shaq is gone, and he knows the CLIPs can give him the maximum contract and can play 12 games in Anaheim.
There's no reason to wait anymore, both teams have set the table for him.

Honestly, I don't see why Kobe should go with the Clippers. Lakers can pay him more and they've done everything for him (getting rid of Shaq and PJ).

The Clippers can only offer him the challenge to bring a losing team to the glory, but nothing more than that.

Isn't that what he wants?

I hope Kobe goes to the Clips.

I'd rather suck without Bryant, than win with him.

He was givin false hope to Clippers fans.I guess they can re-sign Q Rich now.The Lakers would of been finished for a long time if Kobe woulda put on the clippers jersey

As was expected...Kobe was just playing the media and the Clips. Too bad for the Clips, they let some players go just to make cap room for Kobe.

You have to give more time, it's not like they're going to win a championship next year with this roster. It will probably take time to rebuild now that Shaq is gone  . Even MJ had a great team with him.

na, they don't need to deliver a ring this year....however if there record is something like 17-65 then Kobe ain't all that great.

Kobe won't get 35pts/game. He will get similar to McGrady numbers. Don't forget Odom is in LA as well...plus GP (for now).

The Lakers want the build a young team, thats why they decided to keep Kobe instead of 32-year-old Shaq. It's a bold move as they have lost the dominance in the NBA. The Lakers would be playing a fast-paced game instead of the usual half-court.

Dang he stayed...

I wanted him to go to the Clippers. They didn't just trade Shaq because they want a young team, it's all because 1. They screwed Shaq in some business related thing. 2. After being screwed Shaq ASKED to be traded (as if the Lakers would keep him, and after the trade went through Shaq said he got what he wanted [we'll actually, the interviewer was like "You got what you wished?" and Shaq was like "No, I didn't say that... you did. My lips are shut *zip*" ])

The bottom line: They screwed the Daddy, and nobody screws the Daddy. I wanted Kobe to leave so the dumb management would be officially screwed.

PS: Also, since it's either Clippers or Lakers, they're both LA, and I still get to watch Kobe play. :D

Duh, everyone agrees with what Spinfire had to say, he just said pretty much what's obvious.

What pisses me off is they decided to re-build and go for youth when there was championship fuel left in the tank.

Faggots..

Maybe 1 championship?

What about the future though?

I'd rather have a future than a 1 or 2 year glory!

One championship > [5] years of mediocrity and barely or just making the playoffs.

Championships are remembered, mediocrity isn't. You get a banner for winning a championship, you don't get zilch for just nabbing the eighth spot. Ask Seattle, Toronto, Philly & Orlando, they'll tell you what it's all about.

Calling Kobe an egomaniac would be a shameful insult to all egomaniacs.

My take: Kobe used the Clippers as a tool to force the Lakers to do whatever he wanted (get rid of Phil, get rid of Shaq, etc) and had no intention of signing with them whatsoever. And now that all the pieces had fallen as he had wished, he dumped the Clippers for the Lakers, which was a much more obvious choice for him. The Clippers... being the Clippers as history may tell you, fell for it.

I personally hope that next season and the season after that, in every away game the Lakers play, the fans boo Kobe everytime he touches the ball.

hey rant boy, you better believe that mediocrity is remembered. case in point your boy, shaq. he'll be remembered for his dominance and his pitiful free throw shooting

and at least in this rebuilding situation the team was able to keep it's 2nd best player AND got some decent talent back for their best player. i wonder how much more you'd be crying or if you would even still be living if shaq just retired and then bryant was traded for cap room

The Lakers avoided cruel irony, though should the worst happen in his trial this offseason they could still be without the services of Kobe. Still, I expect him to play next season.

Like most people I'm picking the Lakers to fare worse next season, though I'm pretty sure they'll be top five in the West and Kobe will likely have his finest individual year. I don't think the NBA Finals or the 2005 championship is a safe bet by any means.

Yeah, he won't be remembered for those three rings, his Finals MVP awards, and probably one of the 10 best centers all time, meh. Stupid Shaq.

Again, you post your insane crap probably whilst your drunk and haven't read a thing I've said.

I'm against the re-building.
