Hawks AND Nuggets offer Kenyon Martin Maximum

in summary, the Hawks offer Kenyon Martin the maximum 6 year deal and he is expected to sign this offer. Doesn't look good for Nets fans (N)
If the nuggets give him the same offer, he will sign there offer sheet, but Martin out of NJ is looking very high now

Well he always says he wants to win but I think this situation will make him put his money where his mouth is. If he signs with the miserable hawks then we really know what he cares about. Right now the Clippers are a better team than the Hawks, what does that tell you?

I sort of want to see him go to the Hawks...a core of Terry, Childress and Martin is a good one for a few years. I wonder if they could bring the Hawks back to reality.

I don't think Martin would change much, I dont think he could lead the Hawks anywhere, he would just get frustrated and all that anger management would go right down the drain.

I think signing with Denver would be a good option, if they make an offer that is.

Denver has more potential to win I think.

Wow, that's some serious shit right there. :o

If he's in his right state of mind, he won't do it. He's the leader of the Nets behind J-Kidd. Kidd won't be around forever.

To Martin (the poster): ehm...alright.

I think the Hawks will be decent, considering it is still the Eastern Conference....Wait-Minny! Anyway, Terry+Jackson+Childress+Martin+whoever isn't that bad. It may take a couple of years, but it may be good.

At least he's worth such an offer by today's standards, whereas many other players are getting offered insane amounts of money given their status and accomplishments.

I agree with RedToro (nice touch, by the way :)), if Martin signs with the Hawks it will be clear that the almighty dollar is indeed more important than winning. In a way it's noble, trying to lead a franchise back from the NBA basement, but it's not as if he isn't an important part of the Nets' roster either.

Even if Martin accepts this offer, the Nets will definitely match that offer. They won't let Martin go just like that. They would rather trade him than let him go for nothing.

OMG Kenyon is on our forum !!! could you give me autograph ?
anyway !! am i the only one thinkin Martin is a star ?(Along with himself-Martin) He is such a good player !! But it would be very bad for him if he leaves J-Kidd not NJ. These 2 are such a good duo !! i dont think there is anyone on Hawks to make this great glass passes to him on FBs.

I think KMart is a star. However, the term star is really flexible and relative. There are no real set definitions for it. I do think he is frequently underrated and overrated. A lot of people think he doesn't have a post game, which is incorrect. His first few seasons, he was jump shots and dunks, but he's developed a good post game along with a strong baby hook. Neither he nor RJ rely so much on Kidd as they did a few years ago, although losing him would still hurt. Martin doesn't score nearly as much on the break as he used to (neither did RJ, did you see him dominate when both Kidd and KMart were out?).

Even if Martin accepts this offer, the Nets will definitely match that offer. They won't let Martin go just like that. They would rather trade him than let him go for nothing.

Actually, with Ratner cutting costs, it's a really tricky situation. He basically doesn't want to match the offer (if its a max) if he still has Kidd and Kittles on the team. I've heard reports it's either Kidd or Martin right now, thus the sign-and-trade deals rumored regarding Martin (Martin for Nene) and trade deals for Kidd (to Dallas, GSW).

Kenyon Martin is in the rank good, not great.

If it wasn't for Jason Kidd, he wouldn't be getting so much attention. That guy definitely makes players look better than they really are.

Oooh, that's harsh, but it's fair. I gotta say that that is partly true. K-Mart might not be that good if not for Kidd. But K-MArt has got game and with him, Childress, Terry and Harrington (if it goes through) that's a team of the future. From that they can trade, build up to what it once was when 'Nique was around with Spud. It's all good.
Even though it might seem that most GM's are smoking weed and getting high before they deal players, they're not and they're probably taking a chance and looking at things in that 'it's best for the future- better in the long run.' Although some GM's do smoke weed and deal and that's their problem, but most do a pretty good job, hauling in whatever they can get. So if Martin does sign, the team might actually get colse to the p/o's- a surprise to Martin who just want's the money.

He has stated he wants to be back with the Nets...however, he also wants money. I think if the Nets don't find someway to clear some cap space, he's going to the Nuggets.

The Nuggets sound like a more reasonable option. He would be part of an up-and-coming team as well as receiving a pay rise. I understand that the NBA is a business and no matter what industry you are in, you would be foolish not to consider looking for a pay rise, but by considering the Nuggets - a team with much more talent than the Hawks and in better position to make annual playoff appearances - Martin is considering other factors aside from money, which is admirable.

Bringing a team back from the basement is also admirable as I mentioned before, but whenever a player leaves a playoff team for a lottery team for a larger deal, it just seems to be greedy.

The Hawks have been fucked over once again unless they convince Martin that they're a better fit.

Sad they went through so much trouble clearing up cap space just to watch their #1 target about to get taken away.

OMG, I hope he will stay in NJ, but if he has to go, Denver all the way.
I would hate for him to go to a shithole like Atlanta.
Damn, Denver would rule so hard then.

Well considering Ratner or whoever the owner is will end up paying him a grand total of 103 million by the time his contract expires, I don't think he's regretting it.
