WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 (Ticker) -- Michael Jordan had the ball in his hands with the game on the line, but the Philadelphia 76ers came away with the win.
Allen Iverson scored 35 points as the 76ers edged the Washington Wizards 95-94 for their seventh straight victory.
With the Wizards down by one point and 5.4 seconds remaining, Jordan took an inbounds pass and drove the left side of the lane. He tried to dump a pass in traffic to Bryon Russell under the rim, but Greg Buckner came away with the ball to seal the Sixers' 10th win in 11 games.
Philadelphia led, 93-86, after a jumper by Iverson with 2:04 to play and by five points after Eric Snow made a layup with 46 seconds left. But Snow, who was fouled by Russell, missed the ensuing free throw.
Jerry Stackhouse, who scored a season-high 38 points for Washington, made just 1-of-2 free throws 15 seconds later, but Jordan grabbed the rebound of the second attempt and dished to Stackhouse, who nailed a 3-pointer to get the Wizards within a point with 29 seconds remaining.
After Iverson missed a jumper with seven seconds left, Snow came away with the rebound while falling out of bounds and tried unsuccessfully to call a timeout.
The Wizards, who have lost six straight, called timeout to set up their final play.
Snow had 16 points and Todd MacCulloch 13 for the Sixers, who shot 52 percent (38-of-73).
Rookie Juan Dixon scored a season-high 18 points and Jordan, making his frist start since February 24, added 16 for Washington, which connected at 48 percent (37-of-77).
Philadelphia trailed by five points after one quarter and by four at halftime before taking a 74-70 edge into the final 12 minutes.
