Europian players with fundementals?!

Postby bballer22 on Thu Oct 16, 2003 9:22 pm

Everyone is saying how Euto players come in and are ready to play because the have very good fundementals they know how to set a pick, know how to pass and know how to play overall and that should be a wake up call to American players especialy in HS.
But that was kinda what it used to be! Euro players came in to NBA after playing for thier club for 5-6 years. Peja, Turckalu, Z, and now they are coming in at such a young age. Look ad Darco, drafted beign younger then LBJ. Look at the 2004 mockdraft. I know some of there players will take their name out of the draft if they even put it in in the first place, but still alll u see next to their name is '84, '85' and in some'86?? where are they going to get time to develope those fundementals that Euro players are known for?

I'm not 100% sure on the point you're trying to make, no disrespect of course. I think what you're trying to say is that European players are comming in much younger than previously, so how are they going to have superior fundamentals? I can see your point, and though Peja came out a little older than some of the other guys, you still have a guy like Dirk who was drafted at what, 19 years of age?
Most of these European guys that make it to the NBA play pro-ball in their mid teens, so that's where the fundamentals are going to come from.
I keep seeing in every second thread "Darko is going to be a bust", but you know what man, scouts raved about him for a reason, he has the work ethic, has played pro-ball since his teens and in his last three preseason games played 14, 10 and 9 minutes!!! So I think these guys are going to have some fundamentals, maybe not great, but probably better then the average 18 year old. Of course every person is different, but so long as there are Euros playing pro-ball at 14 and 15 years of age, they are going to be solid in certain areas.
Probably not with setting screens and grabbing boards though :P
