Knicks close to gettin' bigger

By adding Mutumbo.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1632746

if all goes well and he joins the knicks i say its a good move for them...i know he is old and pretty much washed up, but he can do more for the Knicks
Like teach Lampe how to play big
teach Slavko Vranes how to play big also
Might do good and fit in ( thomas+ mutmbo=defense, houston+ van horn=offense)
or if McDyess comes back to 80-100% of what he was, Thomas can back up both mutumbo and mcdyess if needed.

i guess Knicks fan have something to keep them interested now lol

Hmm, interesting, Knicks need a big man BAD, but who doesnt these days...I dont understand why they have so many powerforwards though, trade some damn PF's for a decent Center or PG, that's what I would do, you cant possibly get all the PF's playing time...do it for the team and for the persons career...anyways, I still dont really dig the idea of Mutumbo signing with NY, I want him to sign with Dallas...the west is gonna be so interesting.

If he joins Dallas, that's going to be a hell of a starting lineup to beat.

Mt Mutombo could still contribute decent numbers at the defensive end (as well as adding a couple of baskets at the other end) given the starting role and significant playing time. If I were the Knicks, I'd try to sign him.

Yeah, they need a big man, but I dont want him to sign there...is that hard to understand? I dont dig the whole situation, cuz I want him to sign with Dallas, that way the west gets stronger, the matchup would be a lot more interesting.

IMO if a person posting here doesn't know that you can't put a lineup of PF's on the floor (especially the nYK's pf's) and/or doesn't know NYK has needed a legit center since Ewing lacks serious nba knowledge

I don't think the fact that we're complaining here on the forums will affect Mutombo' decision. I think he should go for a true contender though. Maybe Dallas or San Antonio.

Wait a second! Didn't Mutombo's stats become bad because he only played in 22 min per game AND get close to no PT...or is he just CRAP now???

1st good move by layden if this happens,
the knicks desperately need a legitimate big man, and it would probably mean kurt thomas would be relieved of the center duties and come of the bench to start games.
This in my opinion would mean kurt would be more affective is a backup, all ofcoarse if mcdyess plays this season

Last season, he was injured. He played alright during the playoffs, nothing special. He's still good but age is affecting his game.

I hope he signs with new york knicks.
They already have KVH,Houston, and if Dikembe signs with knicks, they can actually do something in the east.

I think he would do just fine with us. Even though Father Time has caught up on him, he still makes an intimidating presence on both ends of the floor.

Unfortunately, we wont see how Sweets and Lampe would fair much this season, but they are still young, and hopefully they can learn more from Deke.
