Nets to buyout Mutumbo

Mutumbo will be a free agent on Monday once the Nets buyout his contract.

Question is where do you think he will end up? Dallas? New York? There are a ton of teams looking for a big man these days and probably would take Mutumbo even though he is old and doesn't have much juice left in the tank.

Hmm, I doubt any team will really just jump to get him but I agree that Dallas should take him because they need him.

Guess we won't be seeing an M&Ms reunion afterall. :(

New York and Dallas should consider offering him a one year deal. Or perhaps Atlanta could make use of his services again:

C-Mutombo
PF-Ratliff
SF-Reef
SG-Jackson
PG-Terry

and if Mutombo gets 85 percent of his defensive power back they might just might make it into the playoffs..

I would think that Dallas will make the first offer, they are in desperate need of a bigman that doesnt need too many touches (hello, look at the rest of the players on that team)...they just need a big man in the middle to bump bodies and grab a few boards, intimidate guards not to drive, and swat some shots when they do. All of that equals up to Mutumbo (Y)

Dallas, if they sign Mutombo are going to be a killer rebounding team.
Mutombo, Dirk who is a pretty good defensive rebounder as we know, Jamison, and Fortson...

I've heard reports that the Toronto Raptors will try to sign Mutumbo.

Dikembe takes buyout,
free to join Knicks!

Thorn gave Mutombo's agent David Falk permission to talk to other teams last week. One of those teams could be the Knicks, according to a source. As soon as he clears waivers this week, Mutombo could land with the Knicks, Pacers, Mavericks, Raptors or Sixers, among others.

would be nice to see him with the Sixers again :D (Philly would sure use a 7-2 center even if he's burnout)

I agree with Andrew that New York should take him, they only got forward and shit, not a real Center. The biggest guy they got is Kurt Thomas. And how big is he ? 6' 10" 240lbs or something.

Only Alonzo Mourning manage to play real Center at that height.
Holding my thumbs for his comeback BTW

i don't think he'd sign up to play behind mourning all year. he'd sign somewhere where he'll start
