Ruben Patterson To LA

Thu Aug 30, 2007 10:24 am

Patterson signs for the Clippers.

I'm not sure how much this will help the Clippers... although I'm excited that when the Clippers play the Lakers.,.. we're gonna see the self-proclaimed Kobe stopper play against Kobe 4 times this year in an all-LA showdown! :D

More seriously... the Clippers seem to be wanting to try to keep competiting. So this addition will help them. Perhaps they are also gonna be trading Maggette away?

I'd rather see Thornton develop at the 3 then see an old and slightly crazy Ruben Patterson steal his minutes.

Edit: Thornton is one of my favourite players in this year's draft and Maggette is also one of my top 3 favourite players, so I'm pretty pissed at the signing either way.

The fact that the team drafted Thornton and signed Patterson might imply they are ready to trade Maggette... I don't know how valid that arguement is though.

That or they've have signed him to lessen the effect of Elton Brand being out.

Maybe a bit of both.

maggette will probably play sg, then ruben and thornton play sf

Good riddance. As good as he was for the Bucks last year he burnt a lot of bridges in 1 season. Like I said all along there was no way in hell the Bucks were going to resign him as the GM and Owner for some reason had a huge falling out with him. Something big must have gone on behind the scenes.

For the clips, I have no idea what his role is intended to be. He can play the 4 but is very undersized. He played a lot of minutes for the Bucks there last year. He has absolutely no range on his jumpshot, so he won't be playing the 2. I just don't see where he fits on a team that has Tim Thomas, Maggette, Thornton and Ross available to play at the 3. Perhaps as others have suggested Maggette may be on the way out.

I agree that it's a move that could help facilitate a Maggette deal but if nothing else he can fill in at power forward, though as Ty said he's undersized. He's a decent player so in that regard it's not a bad signing but it doesn't seem an ideal fit.

So Patterson doesn't have to travel anywhere to take on Kobe  "Kobe Stopper"

You piece of shit I thought it was going to be the Lakers, I was happy for a second there.

Thu Aug 30, 2007 1:50 pm

When i read the topic title, I assumed it meant he was going to the Lakers, which would have been good for them: adding some much needed toughness and defence.

But him going to the Clippers took me by surprise. Like everyone else, i assume this is signalling the end of the Maggette years. The Clippers are sunk this season without Brand, and i dont think Ruben Patterson is going to do anything to change that.

helllll yeah Kobe vs. the kobe stopper 4 times a year. well, he might have been the kobe stopper in 98, but I don't think it really applies today. Raja Bell's the closest thing to the kobe stopper right now

brands out forlike 10 months a severe injury to the achelies (or however u spell it) is very serious brand may never be the same so corey probs wot get traded plus the have mobley at sg. livingston is also an injury prone playa. this signing is a great idea. this wil start tim thomas at big man

Fri Aug 31, 2007 1:55 am

Thought he was going to the piece of shit Lakers for a second.

I love it how "LA" is used in the title and nobody thought it was the Clippers. I have no idea what this signing means, other than getting another player who can take up minutes. They should just have Maggs as their first scoring option to build a rep so they can trade him, assuming he can still be an effective scorer. I still don't want him to go, but he just isn't fitting in with this team.

Fri Aug 31, 2007 5:52 am

Maggette will be traded by Feb's deadline for sure. Patterson will probably start at 3 and Corey on the bench due to him just not fitting in, besides Dunleavy already said he's very excited that Patterson is in LA.

I hope maggette ends up with the Lakers. As for Patterson he never really stopped Kobe.

Fri Oct 05, 2007 2:25 pm

When did it become popular to resurrect 2 month old topics?

Fri Oct 05, 2007 2:26 pm

It was for a short time, between when he first started doing it, and half an hour later when he was banned.

Hahaha.. Well when i posted that, his user title was Dumbass, so i assumed his days were numbered :D
