New Jersey Nets: Buy or Sell

Wed Sep 05, 2007 2:56 pm

Well, haven't seen one of these here yet, so Here's how this one's gonna go (please)

1. Answer buy or sell question before you. Along with reasoning
2. Post NEW buy or sell question to be answered by someone else! SIMPLE
(3. if you disagree with someone elses buy or sell of a topic, then feel free to not be obligated to post a new question.)

In the interest of people hopefully disagreeing with me (cause I want opinions) I will post 3 buy or sell topics.

1 Buy Or Sell - Sean Williams will have a legitimate impact.
2 Buy Or Sell - Jason Kidd will still be able to keep up with leagues elite guards
3 Buy Or Sell - Jamaal Magloire will return to his all-star form

1 - BUY. Sean is the answer to what the Nets have needed ever since they parted ways with Kenyon Martin. DEFENSE. He is a Beast on the block. I mean, he broke Boston Colleges record for blocks in a season in 15 GAMES!! JUST 15!! He has had his share of problems, but with veterens like JKidd and VC there to guide him, I think that they will be able to salvage him. He will also be a major contributor off the bench, maybe even starting against some of the more agile big men over Jamaal (ala Dwight Howard, Amare, CB4) Because in order to play with Jason Kidd, all you have to do is run and jump. He will do the rest. (Look at Miki Moore...Sellout....I'll nickname him Ben Wallace) I give Sean about 7-10 PPG, this season as long as he doesn't get in trouble.

2 - SELL. Now, Jason Kidd is my favorite player ever, but after watching him get burned last year by the like of Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Baron Davis etc... I realized that his age has slowed him down a bit. But, on the bright side, last year before RJ got injured, and the year before that, Richard took on DWade, and Baron Davis, and other Athletic guards like that. So I think that this will not be a problem for the Nets. As Jason will normally move to the SG and Vince will go to the SF. But on the same token, Jason can still keep up with most of the players in the NBA today. I would say only a fraction of PG's can really get by Kidd easily and Wade normally plays SG nowadays. But some of the Top PG's in the League (Nash, Billups, Deron) Kidd has no problem covering.

3 - BUY. Once again. This comes down to the Jason Kidd factor. He makes players better. Now Jamaal isn't as agile as he once was (was he ever?? ) but Jason will be able to get him the ball in much better positions than Jarret Jack and Steve Blake ever could last year. Not to mention that when He was an All-Star he Had Baron Davis and Jamaal Mashburn to draw out defenses and Magloire biggest problem has always been turnovers. With defenses having to worry about Kidd, Carter and Jefferson, there will be FAR less pressure on him now than there was in Portland. I see Magloire returning to his former self, and getting about 10-13 PPG, 8-9 RPG, and about 1 or 1.5 (avg) BPG. Not great big man stats but better than anyone else other than Curly

i know nothing about the nets and wont pretend to but
1. why would two guards be able to really help the rookie big man? yes they're vets so they can help with lifestyle adjustment and the like, but actual gameplay? no
2. Hm he has no problem covering pass first PG's...go figure
3. No, magloire is done. While carter, jefferson, and kidd will pull out D's, they're not gonna send everyone after those 3. Any decent big man can handle Magloire.

1. Buy - Jason Kidd can make anyone better. Period. There really isnt too much pressure on him, with the return of Krstic. And the big 3 carries the load offensively - he'll come along just fine.

2. Buy again - Kidd is getting on in years, but the one thing has was/still is tops in the league at doing is using different speeds in order to get the most of his body. He uses different "gears" if you will, sorta like a pitcher who throws the same pitch at different speeds to fool hitters. Plus his anticipation in watching plays develop is borderline legendary. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

3. Sell. I for one didnt think Magloire was worth of an All-star appearance to begin with, just happened to be in the right conference at the right time. He's a solid player, good starter for any team, but honestly, who would he beat out for that spot. Right now its Dwight Howard in the starting line-up, and S O'neal will prob be the backup. And forget having him squeak in at the forward spot, its already overloaded with Bosh, Garnett, and Jermaine O' Neal. Unless he's leading the league in rebounding at the break, he stands no chance.

My buy or sell set
---------------------

1. Zach Randolph and Eddie Curry team up to be a dynamite frontcourt for the Knicks.
2. Renaldo Balkman will be in the running for one of the All-defensive teams this year.
3. The Knicks win 46 games this year.

Buy or Sell - This is exactly like the true or false thread we had a couple days ago.

I didn't mean he would get to the All-Star Game...NO WAY...but return to those numbers of 13/9/2. No way he will ever see an all-star game again.

My bad... I searched buy or sell...but not T or F...Was it about the Nets though? Cause if it wasn't then I guess this is different.

It was general. The nets probably came up once or twice.

Yes, but T/F is like a test, and nobody likes tests. That is why the last one was locked. Now Buy/Sell. Everyone likes money!

^lol

People going off-topic is the reason why the other topic was locked (yes, I admit, I did some of it myself). So c'mon guys.

jkidd1216, did you intend this to be a Nets only thing? Well, not everyone here is a Nets fan, so it may be turning out to be just a few people who actually care about the Nets and/or know enough about it to buy/sell.

Sorry, I ran out of T/F questions already. Someone throw out a set, then?

umm t/f or b/s whatever, is a thread like that thats only about the nets worth a damn

Thu Sep 06, 2007 12:17 pm

false and sell, please close this, Nets aren't the only team in the universe, and besides Fitzy there are no big Nets fans, so no point, why don't you start this thing in Nets thread...

Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:24 pm
