Micheal Dickerson to retire

Look for Michael Dickerson to announce his retirement due to medical reasons.

I think the link changed but I'll take you're word for it. This is a very surprising decision and a disappointing one. Had Dickerson been drafted by the right team, he may have become an all star calibre player one day.

no, the link didn't change. look better

Sources reveal Memphis is desperately trying to obtain a center, namely Hawk Nazr Mohammad ($5M/$5.2M/$5.9M), after failing to pry away Erick Dampier from the Warriors. With the exception of Mike Miller (about to be rewarded with a plush contract) and James Posey, the Grizzlies would be happy to give up any of their many small forwards/off guards - Wesley Person or Shane Battier, for instance. Look for Michael Dickerson to announce his retirement due to medical reasons.

You're right, I see it now. I think I was looking for Vancouver in the article instead of Memphis and that's why I missed it. Thanks for clarigying that.

another notch in the stupidity of former vancouver managemer stu jackson, the steve francis trade just became even more one sided if that is possible. stu wouldve been better off just taking lamar who actually wanted to play in vancouver, not cry baby francis. hey grizzly owner whathisface, theres a reason vancouverites stopped selling out grizzlie games, they sucked and they made deals to stay sucky. good riddance.

i like what jerry west is slowly doing though.

Seems the Grizzlies' problem of a logjam at shooting guard has been resolved, but that's beside the point. It's a shame to see players retire so young, especially when they cite health as the cause. Hopefully Michael has been wise with his money and has backup career plans.

Strange, he's the second Grizz player to retire after a brief career; "Big Country" Reeves was the first, and he also retired due to injury.

didnt micheal resign for a big fat multi year contract extension the off season before the season he got injured? i remember at the time i thought he was a bit overpaid. anyway, even if he retires, he'll still get some money at least from insurance, isnt that right?

Yes, he'll still get paid by the Grizz. I highly doubt he's in financial trouble, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have to look after his money.

He was a decent player when teamed with Mike Bibby on the grizz before, since they played college together.
I feel bad for the guy, he could have been a decent player..quick, agile and he shot the 3 alright.
I remember one time during a Grizz broadcast, Jay Triano compared him to a more quiet version of Vince Carter. More proof Triano is a moron. :D

I could go on forever about Stu Jackson, but I won't. I mean his daughters went to my elementary school before they moved to New York and he lived about 2 and a half minutes away from me. Nice guy, but a terrible, terrible GM.

:!: You lived so close to the GM of your home-town team and you failed to seize the opportunity to make a positive contribution to your city. You should've had a nice, long chat with him about how the Grizzlies should've been run. Had that happened, they might still be called the Vancouver Grizzlies and I could be still getting free ( ) tickets for joining this city league and that bball camp and whatnot. This is all your fault colin, I'm ashamed of you.

Good news for Mike. But it means the Grizzlies still have a logjam at shooting guard.
