NLSC NBA Betting

Would anyone be interested in this?

Someone can put forth a bet, say "I put $10 on Cleveland winning 50+ games this season", and anyone can decide if they would like to take on that challenge. If Cleveland falls short, the person who matched that bet gets the $10. If Cleveland wins 50 games, the person who placed the bet gets $10 from the loser of the bet.

It could build up to a point where 3 people believe that Cleveland will win 50+ games, and 3 people can match that bet. If Cleveland fails to win 50 games, the 3 people who matched the bet get $10 each, coming from the losers. There could be a bet set that Memphis will not win 60+ games this season, and 5 people might hop on that with a $5 bet each. If one person decides to risk it and go against that bet, they will either pay each of the winners $5 or recieve $25 in whole if Memphis does win 60+ games.

You could bet on pretty much anything to do with the NBA season; Milwaukee making the playoffs, Kobe averaging 30+ points per game, Kevin Durant winning rookie of the year, etc. It could then be started again once the playoffs start for betting against teams odds, etc.

All the bets would be updated inthe first post and stay there all season, eg:

Chicago will win 45+ games this season ($5)

I'm tired as hell so I don't know if this really makes sense. It will probably end in people not getting their money or 2 or 3 guys actually entering, but if we could work it out then it could be pretty fun.

Anyone interested?

The only thing I would worry about is it coming to the end and people not paying up. I think the only way it would work would be to put the money in an account upfront and then for somebody trustworthy, maybe Andrew, to manage the account and ensure that the winners recieved payments accordingly. It'd be loads of work though, and I'm not sure I really trust anyone to handle the account. It'd be too tempting to just screw over a bunch of people around the world that you don't even know. I just don't think it would work without putting in money upfront. I'm afraid I would make 6 bets, lose 3 win 3, and then pay on the three I lost but have assholes duck paying me on the bets I won.

Otherwise, I'm down. I've always been a big fan of betting on things. Even little shit that goes on throught the course of a normal day, like whether we are going to hit a red light at a certain intersection.

 Same.

I won $22 off my cousin last week shooting jumpshots in the driveway. He got to the point where he was like, "I'm down $10, and your gonna miss eventually. Keep going!"

Anyway, I'm planning on sticking round this place for a long time and I have met alot of guys on here, so I could take control of the PayPal account if everyone was trusting of me to do so. As you said, everyone would place their bets, then send a lump sum "payment" into the account. Then when the season is over and the winners are decided, they get paid accordingly.

I just wonder though, is there a chance the money will get wiped if I don't touch my PayPal account? When Matthew payed me back my entrance fee for last years fantasy basketball league, I forgot about it, and PayPal wiped the $5 from the account - something about it expiring (my mum is the one with the credit card, so she told me this). If that happened with this... well I don't know what I would do.

yeah I wouldn't put too much hope into this. sounds like a good idea, but not many people are willing to put up the money.

Just had to.
