What is it then? Maybe coaching? I just think Chauncey and Webber (and Rasheed to a certain point) already reached their peak and are on decline now.

-Webber is a good hustler but he is prone to injuries and doesn't have the legs or the stamina anymore.

-Chauncey is a great team leader but, as much as I love him, his inconsistancy and poor decision making on passing and shooting game in the post season are mind bugging!!!

-Rasheed is one of the more consistant players on the team but he just doesn't shut up and the sad thing is that every time he makes some kind of provacative promise he NEVER follows through with it!!

They need someone to take over the game. Originally it was Chauncey but he doesn't deliver when its most needed anymore. He basically threw games 4 and 5 with his outrageous shooting!?! (N)

Sure, every now and then they are calling obvious ones still... but there has been alot of times where there has been a flop, and the player has just fucking flown away - and there was no call. Its a thing of beauty to watch, really.

Like you said Andrew, a lot of the time it does result in a basket - but like I said, it hasn't stopped the amount of flopping ;)

Maybe a definitive announcement from the league would stop it though...

Yes, the refs have called less flopping ;) I will say this, on 90% of varejao's charges taken this season, he did have good position and the refs didn't call it because of him flopping, they called it because he had good feet position. The way you guys are talking about it now is ridiculous, he is definitely willing to take the hit. Give him some credit for landing 99 charges drawn or whatever this regular season.

But they haven't called any flopping in cavs/pistons or cavs/spurs. The spurs are quite the flopping team though, especially manu. He had one play where he got stripped and he flew backwards and his arms flailed up in the air like he was pushed or something.

We shouldn't talk about this anymore though, lets just talk about this offseason ;)

Also, I saw some detroit fans in denial say drew gooden and varejao are couches, and varejao plays ugly defense, Their comment makes no sense and all I can say is, "I'm sorry we embarrassed you detroit, I know you are sore losers, but you lost.... badly, so stop rooting for the cavs to lose, just start rooting for your team to win, and stop promising to beat the cavs but never following through."

I can't believe you detroit fans, you keep flaming the cavs just because you're pissed off you got embarrased by them. Just admit the fact you lost and get over it, worry about your offseason, we aren't upset we got rocked by the spurs - we admitted they were the better team. I know some detroit fans are still waiting for detroit's A' game because the cavs have no chance against their A game.

Just stop worrying about the cavs problems, and worry about your own. You guys seem to care more about the cavs losing than the actual cavs and cavs fans themselves, I'm just looking forward to the offseason now.

cheater, how about you suck my fucking balls

when varejao learns to play some defence without flopping all over the place, i will give him the credit he will deserve

until then, he can go to hell, because that "defence" he plays is an attrocity that is wrecking basketball.

dont even think to bring up that sore loser argument either. we lost because we were crap. the team played crap, coach is crap, refs are crap. that doesnt mean varejao's flopping was anything other than a fucking disgrace

as for bad arguments, dont try and say the spurs are worse. between varejao and ginobili, they are both par for the worst floppers in basketball. in fact, just shut the fuck up all together with your 'arguments' because theyre making my eyes bleed in pain and disgust.

like seriously, your name is 'cheater', you whinge because lebron isnt getting star treatment, and then try to claim varejao doesnt flop. just get the fuck out of here. really.

^ Nice spam, but next time I'd recommend not to do it.

And quit baiting fans of other teams. It's not really the greatest thing to do in these forums...

I can see the Pistons sticking with their lineup for at least one more year. Getting to the conference finals isn't really that bad, even if they had been the favourite to win the East. I think that re-tooling the Pistons would be a mistake, at least not for another year unless something unexpected completely ruins their season. They're still one of the elite teams in the East and will still have a shot of getting to the finals next year.

I see there are also people who love to hate detroit :) well I guess that's what you get when you have a great franchise for a couple of decades. I also wouldn't call a 4-2 series an embarrassment. An embarrassment is more like 4-0,... like let's say the NBA finals :) ...

I have only greatest respect for LeBron he is built for basketball BUT he has no supporting cast. Even "His Airness" had Pippen and Kerr and then Kukoc and then Rodman. If he doesn't step up then there is nobody to fill his position. Did you notice how unless he scored over 21 points vs Det they didn't win? They rallied to beat an aging Detroit and had nothing to offer to Spurs, not even one game?! talking about one hit wonder...

P.S. Not to rain on your parade but we have 3 titles and how many does Cleveland have?...oh that's right none.

But the Finals MVP is the youngest player on that old team, not the "star" older player, who was effectively shut out for 2 games.

The fact that a hyperactive 6' 10" kid like Varejao can very effectively shut down a HOF post player like Duncan just shows where the league is going, the post game is dying with no signs of coming back.

The postgame almost requires the old NBA refereeing style where it was very physical and they let most contact go, in the new touch-foul whistle-happy NBA made to make new guards look like mini-Jordans, the post-game is doesn't make much sense. When Golden State can legitimately play Matt Barnes at Center and take out Dallas and a 6' 2" Point Guard leads all bigs in points in the paint, this is just a different league.

True. I just meant that Detroit does not necessarily need to worry that much about its players' age. If the main guys stay, there will be other things to worry about, like their ability to defend efficiently a superstar like LBJ, or to outrebound their opponents. But overall, I don't think that the Pistons need a huge makeover.

Looking back at the series, I don't know if Varejao was the main reason Duncan had these last two mediocre games, but I might be wrong.

I agree, there's been many lineups this season that made me scratch my head too...Another reason is probably that real centers (not just PF/C like Howard, Okafor,...) are somewhat of a rarity these days (well, that's not news, but we're starting to see the consequences more and more I think).

i agree with maes about the post game being a thing of the past. old nba you had to battle for position with a defender who would battle back now the second you bump a guy he goes flying 3 rows up.

That person needs to be rip. Tayshaun doesn't have that mentality. Delfino got traded. So it HAS to be Rip. Chauncey's getting old.

Is it just me or do some players not get calls in the 4th??

Rip will never be the first option on a team. 75% of his offensive output comes from running off a teammate's screen and shooting the J. Reggie Miller did the same thing, but he was a go-to-guy because he had much better range than Hamilton does.
