The 'NBA Mock Draft' Thread

Here's mine:

1) Greg Oden - Portland
They the hard decision to make but they will select him to put themselves back on the map. He should form a nice partnership with LaMarcus Aldridge.

2) Kevin Durant - Seattle
The easiest selection in the draft. A perfect replacement for Rashard Lewis.

3) Mike Conley - Atlanta
THey cannot afford to lose him in this draft because they might not get him at No. 11. They need a point guard and after missing out on Chris Paul, Deron Williams and Raymond Felton they cannot miss out on a future star point guard this time.

4) Al Horford - Memphis
With Pau Gasol and Rudy Gay in place, Al Horford is the banger they need in the middle to complete a very promising frontcourt.

5) Corey Brewer - Boston
Could be the defensive stalwart they need at the 2 or 3 with Gerald Green still not ready to take over.

6) Brandan Wright - Milwaukee
Mike Conley would've been a good choice to replace Mo Williams but with him gone they cannot pass on Brandan Wright to fill te void in their frontcourt.

7) Julian Wright - Minnesota
Hard to tell what the T'Wolves will do this draft but Julian Wright is a sensible pick to play on the wing.

8) Joakim Noah - Charlotte
With Noah falling low the Bobcats pick him up to pair him with Okafor nfor next year inside.

9) Yi Jianlin - Chicago
They need an inside scorer and if Yi Jianlin is ready next year he could be racking up points they need inside.

10) Jeff Green - Sacramento
With Artest either being traded or retiring this summer Jeff Green is a sensible selection for the Kings.

11) Spencer Hawes - Atlanta
With the point guard spot sorted, the Hawks can fill the other void in their squad with a center and Hawes could be the guy they need for next year.

12) Al Thornton - Philadelphia
WIth guys like Rodney Carney and Andre Iguodala, Al THornton could fit in nicely into this extremely athletic team.

13) Nick Young - Oklahoma
With someone needed to be paired with Chris Paul in the backcourt Nick Young may be the best thing available at this stage to help the Hornets.

14) Acie Law - LA Clippers
They must get a point guard with Sam Cassell hitting 40 and Shaun Livingston hitting the floor pretty badly.

What makes you think Mo Williams will be gone?

Jianlian is a perimiter player.

He means that Conley will be gone by that time in the draft.

And Jianlian is a post player, he is a PF that has some perimiter game. He is like Pau Gasol.

Haha, Forte was so sick. I actually have a DVD called Born To Ball and it shows highlights of a lot of NBA players when they were in high school, and let me tell you Joseph Forte was the shiznit.

Also I have high hopes for Yi Jianlian, because he really appreciates the game, and I saw some of his workouts and he has a very high basketball IQ and he won't be a project coming overseas.

I would think this is one guy that won't be partying, doing drugs and playing with guns.

The guy sounds like the chinese Cliff Robinson.

I can't see the Celtics drafting him. They already have Al Jefferson.

They probably see Yi as like Bargnani, able to play any of the three frontcourt positions....

yeah yi is not a post up player, atleast from the video and reviews i have heard/seen of him. hell i could be wrong, maybe he is a beast of a post player but i doubt it. i think he would fit well with jefferson.

however, you are right. the celtics will not draft him. i want them too but i guarentee they wont.

Sauru have the Celtics ever drafted an international player? It's been a while unless i'm forgetting someone. I think they just don't really scout internationally like some other teams.

I don't blame them, they've been brilliant at drafting college guys. Look at Joe Johnson, he's an All-Star now.

Ainge has been going to China some time now. I doubt he goes there just for the Chinese food.

I also doubt Yi is going to be a post player in the caliber of a Pau Gasol, for at least 3 years anyway. Any 7-foot guy in the Chinese Basketball League will always look like they have a post game when they go against 6'5"- 6'9" centers. Even Yao Ming dominated down low back then that he can afford to shoot 3-pointers in a game.

I think Celtics will end up with either Yi or Brandan Wright....my gut feeling says it will be the latter....

That post up guy they need is in the draft you just totally missed the mark on what guy they should get. Spencer Hawes is perfect for the Bulls. Low post scorer with a little face up game.

Yi will need sometime before he can compete, he's like Darko in that he has so much talent and just plain skill but he needs to bulk up and adjust to the NBA life.

pretty much all foreign players need a couple of years to adjust. thats another reason why i want Yi so badly. i want to draft him, trade pierce to get another young player or expiring contract plus a first round pick(like the suns to get the hawks pick next season). give Yi and the other young players plenty of PT and let them develop. sure we would lose and lose alot next season but atleast it would be for a legit reason of improving the young players we got.

And if the Celtics do suck bad enough next year, theres a shit load of quality PG's in the '08 draft that could really help.

OJ Mayo ( ), Derrick Rose, Darren Collison, Ty Lawson, Jerryd Bayless, etc.
